Bleed Cubbie Blue I got bored...so I made a Cubs Wallpaper

Title pretty much says its...it's not complete yet, but I figured this was a good start and I would share it with you all.

I went with an old photo style for it and will continue to work on it/update here until its complete.  And I will make a widescreen version later :).  Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions for this wallpaper or any style of design you would like to see.

Also can you guess who this player is?

Bleed Cubbie Blue What time does BP start before games at Wrigley?

I havent been to BP in a couple years now and I only go to 3 games/year so I was hoping to catch some BP before Wednesday's game.  Anyone know when it usually starts/ends?

Also what is your favorite place to sit at the bleachers?  I am also hoping to get there early enough so I can get some prime seating for the thrashing of the brewers.  Any help would be fantastic!

Bleed Cubbie Blue Cubs Sales Not Resolved Yet!

According to chicagobusiness.com

Tribune Co. has agreed to terms for the sale of the Chicago Cubs to a group led by private equity investor Marc Utay, giving the company two offers to submit to the bankruptcy court, two sources familiar with the sale process said on Tuesday.
So it seems we still won't know who the new owner will be for a little longer as long as this continues.

Bleed Cubbie Blue Lou finally deciding to do something?

"We're going to try to do different things," Piniella said. "We've stayed pretty constant for 60 games or so. I think it's time to change things around a little bit." - Lou Pinella

Maybe Lou is FINALLY going to do something about this offense. As we have all seen, he has inexcusably been sitting on the bench the first 3rd of the season possibly half asleep(if not all the way asleep). The last few days I have heard some frustration publicly for the first time out of Lou all season. I think this is going to be the make or break point of the season and it seems Lou feels the same. I know many of you are saying "there is still 102 games left" and "we are only 3.5 out". But regardless of what the numbers say, I feel it is the turning point because I feel MENTALLY this team is about done. If they can turn things around in that department, then I will agree we have chance to take the division and play good baseball. If you want examples of mental mistakes, just look at yesterday's game, and all the failed execution ALL season long. That's my viewpoint...discuss away.

Bleed Cubbie Blue It's time to look at the real problem for the cubs again.

Look,  two weeks ago started the Cubs' 8 game losing streak, mainly caused by our hitting.  With that said, I think that has taken much of the attention off the REAL problem with the 2009 Cubs.  The Bullpen.

The glaring hole is not at 3B or with our under performing position players, but in the 'pen.  Lets look at some statistics.

The current bullpen is on record for NINE losses this season, that's not including Cott's amazing statistics this year.  They have also converted only 11 of 19 save opportunities(according to MLB.com). If we converted 50% of the losses, lets say 4, we would be 29 - 21 and right there with the Brewers/Cards even with that horrid 8 game losing streak.

Putting in Heilman is like waving the white flag, telling the other team we are ready to lose the game.  Patton is worthless except as an innings eater.  Gregg does not have closer stuff.  Marmol is walking waaay too many guys.  Waddell is way too inexperienced to use in tight situations.

The only reliable guy...and I can't believe I am saying this...is Angel Guzman at the moment.  And the only other guy that I would even put out there is Marmol because he has enough good stuff to work out of his massive amount of walks(in most cases).

Big League clubs don't go to the playoffs lest WIN in the playoffs(what Hendry built this team to do this offseason with all those excellent moves) with a subpar bullpen.  Lets take a look at the past 3 WS winners and look at their closers.  2008 Phillies had Brad Lidge(no blown saves that year).  2007 Red Sox had Jonathan Papelbon.  2006 St. Louis Cardinals had Adam Wainwright.

Would you put KEVIN F*&)^*(& GREGG in a class with these pitchers?  I am not asking him to be a hall of famer, I am asking him to be a reliable closer which he is NOT.

With the above said, I want to hear your opinions on what should be done with the Bullpen, whether it be rearranging the roles or doing something by the trade deadline.  Below are my suggestions.

Marmol should be moved to closer.  Angel Guzman should be new Setup guy.  Marshall/Ascanio as 7th inning guys.  Gregg as 6th inning guy if needed.  Give Waddell a chance at being the main LOOGY.  Heilman can never pitch again for all I care.  Patton as the guy that pitches in blowout wins/losses.  With that said, I would still like to see a move from hendry to get another reliable arm in the bullpen whether it be a closer or setup guy.
