Rock Chalk Talk My Solution to Conf realignment (long)

ok I've been thinking about this for a while now and here is my solution to the Realignment stuff. ok first off everybody goes to 16 teams with 4 divisions each.

For football you take out 2 non con games, then the winner of the divisions play for a chance at the conf champ game. once the conf champ is decided we go to a 4 team playoff to decide the champ. so basically it is a 16 team playoff with the 4 mega conferences. Each team would play 1 non con game and every team in their division and their "rival" division(the division they would play to get to the conf champ game) and 2 teams from each of the other two divisions on the other side of the conference (rotating of course)

here is how i think it could look

Rock Chalk Talk FB Post-spring position preview

Fullback is a position that is supposed to play an increasingly important role on the Jayhawk offense, as Coach Turner Gill wants to incorporate a more traditional power running game to the Jayhawk arsenal. #33 Nick Sizemore 6’2 246 (SO) Lititz(PA)- Sizemore transferred to KU from Buffalo and sat out last year due to transfer rules. He is a very big bruising Fullback. There were a lot of good stories about Sizemore last year. He will be the starter at fullback this year and for the foreseeable future. He is exactly the kind of guy coach Gill wants at the Fullback spot. #32 Christian Lane 6’2 232 (RSFR) Bellair (TX)- Lane is built in the mold of Sizemore, at 6’2 232 he is a big physical force inside. He will be battling fellow Freshman Josh Smith for the title of fullback of the future. #30 Josh Smith 5’10 205 (RSFR) Hutchinson (KS) – Smith is built like a bowling ball and knows how to run the ball. The Kansas squad was lucky to receive Smith as a walkon in Gills first recruiting class. Smith needs time to bulk up and sharpen his skills. Smith is very talented and could breakout after Sizemore is gone. Depth Chart prediction 1. Sizemore 2. Lane 3. Smith

Rock Chalk Talk RB Post-spring position preview

Running back is a position in which the Jayhawks are deep and talented, expect a lot of runs this year and if KU expects to play well the RBs are going to hae to perform

#25 Brandon Bourbon 6’1 208 (RSFR) Potosi (MO) - Bourbon is an absolute burner at the running back position, he is exactly the kind of player Gill has been looking for at the skill positions. During his redshirt season he gained rave reviews on the scout team and hoped to turn that success into a great spring. He had a lower leg injury and will be out for 2 months. He will be able to play this season but how well after the injury nobody knows. He has the talent to be the number 1 back on the team but he may get no higher than third because of the setback.

#37 Ryan Burton 5’9 187 (SO) Colorado Springs (CO) – Burton had a lot of carries in the spring game but didn’t show much explosiveness, with the talent in front of Burton I don’t expect to see much from the sophomore.

#6 Rell Lewis 5’9 205 (JR) Muskogee (OK) – Lewis was on track to be the number 2 back last year before an injury derailed his season. Lewis is more of a speed back and could get some touches as the third back while Bourbon recovers from his injury

#3 Darrian Miller 5’10 181 (FR) Blue Springs (MO) – This kid is for real, as I have been saying for the better part of a year now he has unreal balance and vision in the backfield, he has a knack for making plays and he will get plenty of touches this year. He could take the #1 spot as the year progresses. Not the biggest or fastest but the kid does work, reminds me of Emmitt Smith http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnYXS...eature=related

#36 Deshaun Sands 5’7 190 (SO) Sunrise (FL) – Sands is another small scat back, but hasn’t been able to produce much yet. Expect him to improve as he is only a sophomore but I don’t think he will see regular time in the running back rotation

#29 James Sims 6’ 226 (SO) Irving (TX) – Sims broke out his freshman year with a solid year running the ball. He is the frontrunner to be the number one guy again this year. Sims is a big bruising back that will be used to pound the defense all game long allowing faster backs (Bourbon, Miller) to run free. Expect another big year from Sims
Incomming Freshmen

Anthony Pierson 5’11 175 East St Louis (IL)- Pierson was a big get for the Kansas football team, a small shifty and incredibly fast back Pierson is a true homerun threat on every play. Expect to see Pierson in the slot and on special teams a lot early, similar to how we use DJ Beshears now. Reminds me of Joe McKnight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fliv9DNBfIg

Dreamius Smith 6’ 205 Wichita (KS) – Smith is a big back with breakaway speed. He put up video game numbers in Wichita, where he absolutely dominated the competition. I don’t know how much he will play this year, but he will be good down the road, reminds me of Rashard Mendenhall http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wfCO...eature=related

Depth Chart prediction
1 Sims
2 Miller
3 Bourbon
4 Pierson
5 Lewis
6 Sands
7 Smith
8 Burton <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Rock Chalk Talk KU post spring position preview QB

This is the one position that you don’t want to have questions at on a football team, unfortunately that is exactly what KU has right now. None of the current QBs look like guys you want leading your team into battle every Saturday.

Rock Chalk Talk My Late Night Thoughts

1) Once again top notch, had a great time.

2) The videos were FANTASTIC, and very long to the KU people really know how to make those things

3)I cant believe how loud teh crowd cheers for coach Self, he is the most loved coach in America

4) The football team didnt get booed......by ANYONE. I was REALLY suprised

5)Tyrel Reed can Frekin Dunk, I think he won the dunk off overall although EJ, TRob, Selby and Wesley did very well too

6) Tyshawn Taylor played FANTASTIC, if he plays at that level all year we will be unstoppable. he was SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOO improved

7)I was a little disipointed Selby didnte a little more but not a huge deal

8) Wesley relly suprised me with his play, he is a long lanky smooth scorer. he can dunk with the best of them and really performed well.

9) the only ovation the recruits got thatI could see was at the end when half the seats were empty(unless I missed their entrence, I was sitting on the side where I couldnt see them,) <!-- / message --> <!-- controls -->

Rock Chalk Talk Best coaching Staff ever

My buddy and I were talking about who would make up the best coaching staff of the coaches that were currently coaching, here is what I came up with.
1. All coaches must be currently coaching
2. All position coaches must have at least SOME experience with the position they are coaching

we will start with the Offense

Rock Chalk Talk Phil Ford gets KU offer

Looks like Phil's hard work has paid off as he got an offer frm KU this morning. He has dropped a ton of weight and as long as he stays around 320(I've heard) the coaches were impressed with his ability to work hard and decided he needed an offer. This guy is HUGE! If he commits it could REALLY help with Darrian Miller as they are good friends.

Looks like all of this conference realignment hasn't done too much to hurt our recruiting, that's two commitments in the last few days during all of this, Looks like coach Gill and CO can really sell Kansas.

A quick note on Bodenstein.  He was a player that Darrian Miller was actively speaking with about Kansas prior to his decommitment.  I believe initially both were looking at Arkansas and that is how they met, but this could be a small help in the re-recruitment of Miller.
