From the greatest sports town in the world, Chicago. I was spoiled with 6 NBA championhips in the 90s by MJ, Scottie and the rest of the Bulls. Honestly, it added to a great childhood! I still try to pull for the Chicago Bulls, in the Eastern conference, but it the West my heart belongs to the Spurs. I have to respect a dynasty. The Lakers and the NOOCH can shove it. Any season in which they fail in the playoffs is a sucessful one. The 2009 NBA Finals were dissapointing, the 2008 NBA finals were a pleasure to watch, but the 2007 Finals were best. Spurs baby!

The Chicago Cubs will never win the World Series. They don't need to.

The Bears got a QB!

* Executives mentioned New York and Houston as clubs that have interest in Randolph, but he will not be easy to move because of the great disparity between his small salary ($1.8 million) and his perceived upside. The most likely trade scenario would include Randolph as part of a larger deal that featured a more accomplished player.

"I don't know that Randolph's stock has dropped around the league," the executive said. "He's a great talent; he just hasn't done much yet. So he's more of a sweetener that could get another deal done if you threw him in."

Bell and Randolph?

* TUESDAY'S WORST
Richard Jefferson, Keith Bogans and Antonio McDyess, Spurs: You're not going to win many games when 60 percent of your starting lineup combines to score just six points on 3-for-11 shooting.

* Some teams apparently would love to have Los Angeles Clippers forward Marcus Camby(notes) on their squads and supposedly have made trade proposals for the big fella, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy isn't confirming or denying such claims at this point. Camby is in the last year of his contract and making $9.1 million this season. Camby certainly has some desirable features: He's up in the top five of blocked shots per game and in the top six for rebounds per game as well.

"Marcus has been great," Dunleavy said. "We have a lot of guys that have a lot of interest from a lot of people."

* Let me explain exactly how Forbes screwed this up. They failed to account for two critical elements:

•The "show up late, leave early" quotient
•Basketball IQ
Lakers fans score extremely high in the first category, and extremely low in the second category. When you add these critical statistics to the Forbes formula, Lakers fans finish 22nd in the league.

Well, there ya go.

Poll: When to Panic?

Hi PTR-ers. We are 18 games into what is supposed to be a 'warm-up' for another deep playoff run, and our beloved San Antonio Spurs are 9 and 9. That's good for 3rd place in the Southwest division, and a 9th place ranking in the Western Conference standings. I know the Spurs are a "2nd half of the season" kind of team, and I know come February, they are supposed to flip that switch and miraculously start firing on all cylinders. But let's be real here, this is not the way for a championship contender to start the season. This is not Spurs ball. There has been too much lazy play, way too many turnovers, lax defense, lax offense, not enough rebounding, and too...many...missed...free-throws! We have a few bugs to sort out. A few suggestions as to what could be the problem(s) have come up in conversation thus far, but are not limited to (and in no order): Has Pop lost it? Is Manu not really fully recovered? Is Tony hogging the ball? Is it too early to call the RJ trade a bust? Do we need another move? Did we miss an oppurtunity? Are we too old? When do we panic??

Tues.12.08.09 Loser Thread

Blah, we have 8 games tonight, and thankully none of them involve the Spurs. That means we can't lose. But we can hope for the Mavericks or Suns to (even though they play eachother).  The Celtics host the Bucks, the Bulls host the Nets, the Mavs host the Suns, the Nooch host the Kings, the Raptors host the T-Wolves, the Bobcats host the Thuggets, the Grizzlies host the Cavs and the Clips host the Magic. I'm too irritated to find old logos tonight. Vote for your top choice of loser tonight! Great analysis on last night's game by all throughout the day today, btw!

Update: Charlotte beats Denver, 107-95. Charlotte and Denver removed from poll.

(Zero votes at this moment, anyway.)

Toronto beats Minnesota, 94-88. Both teams removed from poll. (Zero votes each.)

Boston beats Milwaukee 98-89. (Bye bye Bucks.)

The Nooch beat the Kings 96-94. (See ya Nooch and Kings.)

The Nets get win #2 in Chicago, 103-101! (Bye bye Nets, Bulls and VDN?)

Memphis beats Cleveland 111-109 in OT. (Bye Grizz and Crab King.)

The Mavs beat the Suns 102-101. (Bye Suns.)

Orlando beats the Clips 97-86. (Bye.)

* McDyess: "This is the most difficult scheme I've been in on offense and defense," he said. "Of course, I've been in one place for so long I knew there would be an adjustment period. Everything here is so exact; every play there's so much detail."

* Jefferson: "Of course there will be an adjustment period. The schemes here are very different, very involved. We just have to take things one game at a time. Like tonight. We want a 'W' but we also want to progress. We know it's a process. We just have to keep getting better every game and we'll see where we are at the end of the year."

* For starters, multiple league executives believe the Chicago Bulls’ shopping of forward Tyrus Thomas(notes) could result with him moving sooner than later. As Thomas has rehabbed a broken forearm, the Bulls have had discussions with several teams, but perhaps none as serious as the ongoing dialogue general manager Gar Forman has had with New York Knicks president Donnie Walsh.

I suppose 'no' to this guy too, huh? He is young, athletic, and coming off an injury. I admit, I've never been a huge fan, but I think he deserves a fate better than the Knicks! And the young Bulls can use some veteran Spur leadership in the form of Finley and Bonner. Yay or nay?
