Dave D suggests Nets trade a commodity for a PF
I know it has been suggested that the Nets are done making any moves until the season starts. But Dave D suggested in the story today about the Nets Heading to London that the Nets will have to trade a commodity for a PF.
There’s no one left in the free agent pool they’re going to give any guaranteed money to, we’re told by a few agents with homeless clients. Which means the Nets are going to have to trade a commodity for a commodity to plug the hole at the four-spot.
He also suggests that the Nets use Jarvis Hayes in a sign and trade
Here’s something we never gave much thought to, though it hardly matters at this point: The Nets never renounced Jarvis Hayes. Which means they still use him in a sign-and-trade if the opportunity arose and someone had a spare power forward they’d be willing to swap. Jarvis is still unemployed, waiting for something more than a minimum-wage offer.
I know he's only one beat writer, but he's been used as a source of knowledge before and this at least tells me the Nets may not be done.
Sean May signs with Nets?
Sean May has reached agreement on a one-year contract with New Jersey, a league source tells Y!
Despite stand-out skills, Favors has unassuming nature
This is a story from Ga. Tech, but it says a lot about who Derrick Favors is. A few things jump out from this story. First is that Favors really is a kid and he was somewhat sheltered. Second is that he's very mild mannered and low key and doesn't have a big ego. He is also very coachable and a gym rat.
South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick, who often gave Favors a ride home from the gym if he stayed late, waited to see just how long Favors could last one night.
"After a couple hours, I'm like ‘I've got to go home,' " Reddick said. "He's in there, had a good sweat going on, like ‘What? I was just going to shoot until you came to get me.' "
It was almost 9 p.m. Practice had ended at 6:30.
If coached properly, this kid can be very special. I'm glad to hear that Sam Mitchell was working with him and that we have a few coaches that played PF.

TWill sounds like the odd man out
If you listen to Avery's conference call and read some of his recent comments, he made some statements that made me feel he didn't know how to use Twill.
When asked about point guards, he said Devin could be top 5-7, Farmar and DH together could be a top pg tandem and they liked Uzoh. He then said they would probably bring in another at the vet minimum. So that takes Twill out of the mix.
Then when asked about the starting lineup, he said Devin, Brook, Outlaw and CLee would go into the season as the starters without knowing who the starting 4 would be. He then talked about competition and said Morrow might be able to knock CLee out of the starting lineup if Morrow played better with Devin.
He was asked about D. James and said that D James was a Horry type and was the best rookie in Orlando. He said he would compete with Outlaw because they wanted a sf with size that can score the ball.
When the topic of Twill came up he did talk about how athletic he was and how well he could pass the ball. But he went on to talk about trying to get him to be more consistent on both side of the ball. He said he was kind of LEANING to him being a 1-2 or 2-1. Then he went on to say that he's not a 3 and stressed right after that that he's "DEFINETLY NOT" a 3.
He went on to talk about each player and pretty much praised them all without any negative answers. He knew the role of every player from the rookies to Johan Petro. He said he was happy to see TWill in Orlando because he was able to see his talents. He also said TWill has a high basketball IQ ut still didn't say how he would use him.
The fact that he knew what every other players role would be with the exception of TWill, made me feel that he's not in the plans. If he's not going to let him play the point or the 3, the only way for TWill to get on the floor is to shoot better. I like TWill and feel that he has the most overall ability on the team but he's not a pure 2 guard.
Avery also continues to talk about getting a starting PF. Without knowing who Avery will target, it appears he has a clear vision of what his team will look like and Twill may not fit that vision. I know there is a legion of TWill fans, but can any of you tell me where he fits?
Opting out right move for RJ?
Wow, RJ leaving 15 Mil on the table? He must hate the Spurs to do that.
Vince Carter Chokes?
A lot of VC lovers used a number of excuses for Vince not being able to excel in the playoffs. People said he never played with a talented big man. Can we please stop now? He is needed and he went 1-9 for 3 points tonight. JJ Redick has been playing better. I always thought he was one of the most talented players that didn't used it to it's full potential. Now he's showing it. No more excuses. He is what he is. A player with the talent of Kobe that never lived up to the hype! Who can defend him now?
