But make no mistake, there was nothing cheap, flukey or fortunate about the Chiefs' 19-14 win. They dominated the defending Super Bowl champs in every facet of the game, and easily could have won in a rout if their red zone offense had not been forced to settle for so many chip-shot Ryan Succop field goals.

Just one question...

Who the heck is going to cover Gronkowski on Monday? In my mind, the only guy that has a chance to match up is DJ and we need him in run support. Should be a huge problem.

2. Kansas City's crowd. The Chiefs haven't hosted a playoff game in seven years. That's a long time to get every red garment in the area laundered. We'll see if the Chiefs fans are as legendarily loud as we remember.

Re: Playoff Tickets purchased through ticketmaster

I was following some comments on getting the cardstock tickets for the playoff game next week, but never saw a defined conclusion. I emailed the Chiefs marketing dept and they said that there is no way to get the commemorative tickets when purchasing through ticketmaster. What a bunch of crap, but understandable. Just in case anyone else wasn't sure. Go Chiefs!

Matt Cassel: The award is called Most Valuable Player. Cassel defines the word for the worst-to-first Kansas City Chiefs. Cassel has tossed 27 touchdowns against five picks. It's the most unpredictable stat line all year. In the one game he didn't play this year, Kansas City didn't score a single point against San Diego.

Is Shanahan really a good coach? Or is he a guy who built his legend via back-to-back Super Bowls won by an entrenched Hall of Fame quarterback and a roster largely built by Shanahan’s predecessors and held together by proven salary cap violations?

Just thought this was a good point by Florio. We've all wondered this aloud, but not many media pundits actually put it as concise and as strong as this statement.

The Chiefs are getting good before our eyes. I said this week I think they'll win the AFC West, and after watching the first six weeks of the season, I think it might not be close.

I haven't rewatched the game or compared it to any other this season, but does anyone think that missing Kendrick Lewis this game may have hurt more than anyone knows? He has played so well back on that 3rd level and even though not considered a "starter", he's been called out by several media pundits as being one of our more valuable rookies. Thoughts?

Meet the NFL's newest shutdown corner. To put Flowers' numbers in perspective, he's averaging a full yard less per attempt than Darrelle Revis allowed last season. Two writers from the stats-based website Profootballfocus.com have Flowers in the running for NFL MVP through five weeks. He'll travel to Houston Sunday to take on Andre Johnson and the Texans.

I know it's crazy to talk right now, but if Max Hall lives up to his status as an undrafted rookie QB Fitz could likely enter 2011 in the final year of his deal and looking for the next contender. By this time KC could be looking to get that final player for a Super Bowl run. Why wouldn't Fitz wanna come back to team up with Haley again? Just a thought for a slow Friday...

Florio's take: Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennel are reunited for the first time since winning three Super Bowls in four years for a Chiefs team that has a long way to go in order to be competitive -- but that quietly is moving in the right direction. The Chargers have typically started slowly under Norv Turner, barely beating the Raiders in the second game of last year's Week One Monday night doubleheader. The fumes of some offseason contract issues (two of which persist) could make it even harder for San Diego to get the pull the lawnmower cord on the 2010 season. Though they'll likely eventually win the division, I think they'll have to dig out of an 0-1 hole to do it.

Florio's pick: Chiefs 17, Chargers 14.

Here’s one of those reasons: Berry impressed Kansas City’s coaches when they kept hearing that Berry didn’t just wear a Volunteers helmet — he helped shine them, too. Berry would creep into the equipment room on Friday nights to help managers polish helmets.

After reading this guy's analysis in the last couple of weeks, I was eager to see his first mock. Nothing surprising Chiefs wise (Okung as usual), but Bradford #1 overall? Wow.

Charles’ big day almost didn’t happen. Before the trade deadline in October, Chiefs’ general manager Scott Pioli offered Charles to the Redskins for a paltry fifth-round pick. But Washington GM Vinny Cerrato felt that was too high a price to pay for a backup running back. That might be why Cerrato was fired last month

Under-the-radar move: Kansas City signing ex-Chicago safety Mike Brown to a one-year contract. During his time in New England, new Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli saw the value in having veteran safeties like Rodney Harrison and Lawyer Milloy. Brown, 30, will add that same savvy provided he can avoid the injury problems that ended his nine-year stint with the Bears. At worst, Brown can provide quality depth behind Bernard Pollard and Jarrad Page while helping the development of both fourth-year safeties.

Though he's been inconsistent in his young career, Dwayne Bowe is a dominant talent who rivals Steve Smith and Calvin Johnson for the ability to catch the ball in traffic

Arrowhead Pride Falcons still (and maybe now more) interested in Gonzalez?

Could have been in the Fanshots but I feel like this is a topic worth posting about.

This could be interesting....gotta think something is in the works. Possibly the Cleveland trade that was rumored earlier. I just have a hard time believing McDaniels has a better option out there.

But by using the economy as an excuse, the most successful pro league in sports has set a poor example for others. They're throwing people out of work, not because they're losing money but because, at best, they fear the future -- although it won't stop the owners from staying in $500-a-night rooms at their meetings on the California coast later this month.

And here’s the weight room. We just bought a million bucks worth of Hammer Strength equipment, which of course you have access to at all times.

According to Albert Breer of SportingNews.com, both the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs are interested in free agent cornerback Travis Daniels.

Among the teams believed to be interested in Scott: the New York Jets, the Cincinnati Bengals, the St. Louis Rams, the Kansas City Chiefs, the New York Giants and the Arizona Cardinals.

Arrowhead Pride Chiefs reportedly tab Clancy Pendergast at the next DC

Courtesty of Rotoworld.  No link to the story as of yet:

"Chiefs hired former Cardinals defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast to hold the same position in Kansas City.</a>

Ex-Saints DC Gary Gibbs will coach the LBs. Pendergast loves to take risks, some of which create big plays while others result in big gains for opponents. He'll likely run a hybrid 3-4 scheme in KC, bringing 2008 first-round pick Glenn Dorsey's position into question. Dorsey is a pure 4-3 defensive tackle and was considered too small to for a 3-4 defense coming"

Arrowhead Pride Matt Stafford "may not" Work Out at the NFL Combine

From the FanPosts. Tweaked the title a touch.   -Primetime

From the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

"The word is Matthew Stafford isn’t going to workout. I hope he changes his mind. The league wants to see him handle a big NFL stage, not some controlled workout at his Pro Day in familiar surroundings. You want folks to drop millions in your pocket and you don’t want to work out?"

Does this mean he has the ultimate confidence in being drafted by Detroit

I have no idea why he would avoid showing off his arm unless he already knew where he was going.  Interesting to note that even JaMarcus Russell, who was assumed in almost all mock drafts to be going to Oakland, worked out.

Makes it easier for Chiefs fans I suppose.

Arrowhead Pride Pioli gets his man...

Per Fox's Jay Glazer the Chiefs have reportedly offered the head coaching position of our Chiefs to Todd Haley.  Rooney rule....check.  Up and coming coach....check.  Intriguing hire....check mate.  This will be interesting.

Let the debate begin on where the defense is going....

Does this mean Chan Gailey sticks around as well?  What about Thigpen?  Will Boldin now entertain thoughts of coming with Haley?  Russ Grimm will most likely be promoted to OC in Arizona.  Now I'm just filling words to finish this damn post....
