Mile High Report Bill Simmons Page 2 Doesn't feel like his ESPN pals

This is from his column

Prediction No. VIII: As we all know (or should know), a true sleeper pick can only be a team that: (A) flagrantly sucked last season; and (B) generated little buzz heading into this one. That rules out Houston (too much buzz), Green Bay (ditto), the Jets (9-7 last season) and Bucs (9-7 last season). You have to pick someone from this group: the Bills, Browns, Raiders, Broncos, Chiefs, Lions, Rams, Bengals and Niners. You need the "Nobody believed in us!" factor. You need a team that nailed its April draft and is blessed by a bad division and/or an easy schedule. You need an easy September for momentum. You need a franchise with fans who lost hope and will lose their collective crap if anything good happens. And you need to feel like you want to throw up even as you're anointing the team your sleeper.

My pick? The Broncos. Nobody believes in them because they lost Shanahan (24-24 since 2006) and Cutler (17-20 career record). Was that REALLY a disaster? They hired the architect of New England's record-setting 2007 offense (McDaniels) and traded for a QB with a 21-12 career record as a starter (Kyle Orton). (I know, I'm pushing it with the facts. But those ARE facts.) They crushed the draft: two first-rounders (including running back Knowshon Moreno, who could light it up right away) and five of the top 64 picks. They play in a division with two awful teams (Kansas City and Oakland). They easily could start 4-0 (at Cincy, home for Cleveland, at Oakland, home for Dallas). And the city of Denver has lost all hope. Also, I want to throw up and you are shaking your head right now. In other words, the Broncos fit the bill. Ten and six, I say.

Mile High Report I was asked to write an article for the Bleacher Report

Here is the link:

Go easy on me ;-) I just wanted to present my views about the history of the offseason while sharing my opinion of why I think we are better.

It was my first crack at this and I know I can improve. Share your comments with me here or there. I wanted to do it because the Broncos were getting roasted there in most of the articles.

Go Broncos!

Mile High Report Am I wrong.....

With the draft already gone and mini camps going, the NFL has said nothing about Brandon Marshall yet..........could he be out of trouble?

Could we go in to the season with the full receiving corp? That would be great.

I would love to thank everyone here at MHR.

After the Cutler fiasco and the flow of name calling and blame flying around DP, I became frustrated.

I live in NJ, the Rocky was gone, DP had become a place to rip Pat Bowlen, Josh McDaniels, Brian Xanders, Kyle Orton and our former QB and his agent. Where could I get real Bronco news and updates?

I would wonder where can I just read about the Denver Broncos and enjoy the fact we have a great franchise, great owner and are in a state of transition to a new philosophy.

I searched new blogs and lots of traditional sites, I saved link after link but the place I found the best reporting and the most knowledgeable fans was here at the Mile High Report. I had the link the whole time and this ability to use this resource and never took full advantage of it until now.

THANK YOU.

Since I have been coming here, I have had the chance to read posts from the staff that have been enlightening and educational. What has surprised me the most have been the intelligence of the fans and the discussions we all have.

I have rooted for the Denver Broncos since 1975 when i lived in Colorado. I have seen the Red Miller era, watched the Orange Crush, hoped Randy Gradishar would get recognized for how great he actually was and get voted into the hall. Through the Dan Reeves era and our Super Bowl blow outs.  Watched John Elway never say die, carrying a less than stellar Denver team on his back to the playoffs or to victory when defeat had us firmly in its grasp. To the Mike Shanahan era with Terrill Davis and then the Jacksonville loss followed by the next 2 Super Bowls victories.

Yes we really did it!

I sit here today wearing my Super Bowl Champions Back to Back sweatshirt with great pride.

It has been awhile for that kind of glory. Going to playoffs and knowing we were at team to reckon with. Heck we used to think Super Bowl all the time.

But I truly believe it is right around the corner once again.

We aren't rebuilding, we are refueling and restocking.

We are about to surprise the NFL, sooner rather than later.

We are the Denver Broncos and its fans.

We are used to being doubted.

We are used to being picked against.

We are used to rising up and surprising the NFL and the media that critiques our moves.

We were always about team first and thank you Josh McDaniels for getting us back there.

There are many doubters around this country even some former Denver players, thats ok.

Cause Champ doesn't doubt nor does Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, Brian Dawkins, Andra Davis, Kenny Peterson, Knowshon Moreno or Josh McDaniels and many more.

Neither do I!

We are going to be a team of passion. A group devoted to giving it everything we got for the sake of the team.

I am proud to root for the Denver Broncos, they are my team. I love our history.

I am proud of Pat Bowlen, he has class and has always put the Broncos first.

I am proud of Josh McDaniels for analyzing what it will take to bring us back and sticking to his guns even though it has gotten ugly at times.

Most of all I proud of you guys, the Bronco fans, the real ones, the ones who take the time to think things through and voice your opinion respectfully and stick through thick and thin to our team.

Let's enjoy what's coming.

Thank you.

Go Broncos!
