Karo changing his tune?
from Larry Csonka on 411mania
It seems that Karo Parisyan is throwing himself on the mercy of the NSAC now. Previously, he stated that he told them prior to his fight about the "pain pills" he was taking and they better not do anything to screw up his future fights. Now he is basically saying "please, please do not take my money away" and that seems to be his only response. If history tells us anything about how these failed tests are typically dealt with, we should probably look for Karo to be suspended in about a month and probably for a year. For me personally, I have really not enjoyed any of his previous performances and it truly seems like he needs some time off to concentrate on his personal issues and maybe get his mind right so he can focus on his fighting career.
What does Karo have to say about his failed drug test?
Karo Parisyan briefly met with the Nevada State Athletic Commission about his failed drug test after his UFC 94 bout, for the banned substances hydrocodone, hydromorphone and oxymorphone. Parisyan appeared briefly met with the commission, but due to time constraints and a full slate of things to cover, stated that they would not rule until next month on a possible punishment. Parisyan showed up to the meeting on his own.
Parisyan stated the following, regarding his possible punishment…
"I'm just going to tell them, 'Listen, I'm sorry,' I had a prescription for one pain pill; the other I didn't have a prescription for. I have a very high resistance to pain pills, and I took some. I'm sorry.
This is the only way I have to support my family. If I don't fight, I'm going to be homeless by the end of the year. I'm going to try to get married in August. If I don't fight and I get fined, my entire year -- everything I was supposed to do -- will just go down the toilet. Between my marriage and my house, I'll lose everything if you take my money away. So I beg God and I'm begging you guys, please don't do that to me.'"

Jake Rosholt Getting New Opponent
Jake Rosholt Gets A New Opponent For Fight Night 17
Posted by Adam Tool on 01.08.2009
Alessio Sakara is out, but who's taking his place?
Jake Rosholt was set to make his UFC debut at Fight Night 17 against Alessio Sakara, but now Sakara has pulled out of the bout with an undisclosed injury. Taking Sakara's place will be Dan Miller, who is accepting the fight on one month's notice.
Accepting a fight with little time to prepare seems to be becoming a habit for the Miller brothers. Dan made his debut with a win over Rob Kimmons at Fight Night 15, only to turn around and return once month later at UFC 90 with a win over Matt Horwich. Meanwhile his brother Jim accepted a Fight Night 16 bout with Matt Wiman on only eight days notice.
Rosholt will be making his octagon debut, and the former Oklahoma State wrestler is still undefeated after beating Nissen Osterneck at WEC 36 in November.
Fight Night 17 features a main event of Hermes Franca vs. Joe Lauzon
