Bills @ Chiefs Preview
Finally, the time has come Bills fans. After what has seemed like the longest offseason in history, the Bills are set to begin the 2011 NFL season with a visit to Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs. Unfortunately, optimism isn’t at a fever pitch for this team but as always, we expect the Bills to be very competitive and many are predicting a Bills win on Sunday. For that to happen, a lot of things must go right for the Bills.
Jaguars @ Bills Preview
The third preseason game is generally seen as a dress rehearsal for the starters and we should see most of the first string playing at least a series into the 3rd quarter. My preview is after the jump.
Bills an Example of Losing Cheaply
Buffalo, 11 consecutive years out of the playoffs, just traded one of its few established performers, Lee Evans, to the Ravens for a middling draft pick. Unloading Evans and replacing him with a minimum-salary young player cuts the Bills' costs by about $3 million this season, which is more than profits would rise if every seat were sold. Trading Evans makes a winning season less likely, but the odds of a profitable season go up -- and a built-in excuse is created. How long until a Buffalo team official says, "We knew we'd have an off year when we lost Lee Evans," as if he had been swept from the practice field by helicopter-borne commandos, rather than deliberately traded away.
Buffalo @ Denver - 8/20
As you are all aware, our beloved Buffalo Bills are playing the Denver Broncos in their second preseason game this Saturday. This matchup in Denver will present the Bills with different challenges than they faced in Chicago and should be another great barometer of the teams prospects for 2011. Some of the match-ups I'm most eager to see are listed after the jump.
