Not that anyone of you will need to read it here, since its all we'll probably read about all weekend, but Halladay just pitched a perfect game against the Marlins. Caught the last 4 innings, and it was just about the most wonderful thing I have seen this year. He was absoutely lights out.

Here is something I didn't know but makes me miss Halladay all the more:

"A Halladay routine differs from a normal routine the way a housefly differs from a space shuttle. Here are some of the details Cosart learned about the Halladay routine: He catches the throw from the catcher in the same spot in front of the mound every time; he takes the same number of steps back up the mound after every pitch; he even has an idea of how many breaths he wants to take between pitches."

Bluebird Banter McGowan out for at least 4 weeks...

Right rotator cuff tear...with surgery a possibility. I'm finding JP his usually cagey self, refusing to comment on the severity of the problem.

I think we need to assume he will be gone well into August, and worse-case-scenario till the end of the season. That vastly complicates trading AJ.

Best case scenario: Marcum gets better quickly, we trade AJ, Parrish stays up, and give Purcey a chance to shine.

Worst case scenario: We trade AJ, Marcum stays down, and our rotation is Halladay, Litsch....Parrish? Purcey?.....do we even have another major league ready fifth starter? Should we consider stretching Downs? Something I've thought had some upside.

How crazy would it be if we had to trade AJ for  pitching after all of this.
