Bright Side Of The Sun Who becomes a bench warmer

So far we should have a strong starting five starting four as well as strong bench players(if they carry their play over from the end of last season) Most teams in the league go 8-10 deep. After watching Clark in summer league I believe he will end up being part of the rotation at some point during the year. That got me to thinking who are the 2 or 3 players that would get banished to the bench?

Here's the list of 12 players on the suns roster...

Nash

J-rich

Hill

Stat

Frye

Lopez

Dudley

Barbosa

Dragic

Tucker

Lue

Clark

If you had to pick a 9 or 10 man rotation who would be the 2 or 3 people you would play? Who do you think will be the 2 or 3 people that Gentry will pick not to play?

Bright Side Of The Sun Just a quick Poll...

As i've pointed out (probably one to many times) I think the best option for the team is to stand put and play this year out and not worry about extensions or trades (unless a trade in which we get atlest $0.85 on the dollar.) After Gentry took over we had a historically good offense even without Amare. Adding Chandler would help our defense and would open up the paint for Nash.

Nash/Dragic

J-rich/ Barbosa

Hill/ Dudley

Amare, Amundson, Clark

Chandler, Amare, Lopez

I am wondering where everyone thinks we would end up if we have a healthy Amare,a permanent coach in Gentry, and went through with the Wallace for Chandler trade.

Bright Side Of The Sun ride out the season...

So heres what Im thinking....

everyone is scared nash will leave for nothing....

everyone is scared stat will opt out and leave for nothing....

However it wont be for nothing it will be for boat loads of cap space.

I think we should play out the season and evaluate during the trade deadline. If we have a chance of pushing to the top 4 seeds then I think we should make a play for someone using wallace's expering. If the suns are not doing so hot then trade J rich for nothing and at the end of the season we stand like this.

1.) let Nash and Amare walk.

2.)  Evaluate Amundson and Tucker

                 Salarys look like this.

Barbosa          $7,100,000

Dragic              $1,972,000

Jared Dudley  $2,151,068

Robin Lopez   $1,867,320

Grant HIl?       $ 3,500,000?

Earl Clark       $ 1,837,560 ?

Thats about $18,427,948 total in team salarys. That would be about 37 million under the cap.( give or take a few million depending on Tucker, Hill, and Amundson)

the suns would have three advantages most teams would not when it comes to getting star players.

1.) Pheonix is a much better destination then most citys that are trying to land a star.

2.) We would already have strong role players ready to play( Barbosa, Hill)  aswell as (Hopefully)  very strong bench guys. (dragic, dudley, amundson, Lopez?)

3.) we would have enough cap space to give  max contracts to TWO different supper stars and still enough to offer a solid chunck of cash to a B-tier type player.

I think this is the best option instead of drastically overpaying ether nash or amare.

Also Butcher twittered this "FYI: Phx can deal Big Ben for Ty Chandler anytime they want. They're checking all other options before going down that road."

P.S. Correct me if any of my numbers are Wrong.

P.S.S. are the summer league games going to be on air or is the only way to watch them to go to them live?

Bright Side Of The Sun ramblings from a SUNacholic.....

Well with shaq gone the suns are now ether committed to win by run and gun OR committed to continue to blow up the team. To have the best run and gun five on the floor amare will have to play the Center position. This leaves us with ether sweet LU, Dudley, or barnes(?) to go to the four. The suns do however have a glut at the 2 spot with both JRICH, and Barbosa along with wanting to see what Tucker has to offer....

Trade JRich to the jazz for Andrei Kirilenko

Why the suns do it- This gives the suns a great starting five along with an athletic defender who is great in the open court. Kirilenko has been stuck at the small forward position for the last couple years and thus his production has slide. Putting him as a starter + a power forward to get the best out of him( which is quite good)

Why the jazz do it- This trade will save them 3 million in cash which gives them a better chance to fend of teams against milsap incase boozer does not opt out. The jazz also need an athletic 2 gaurd who can shoot next to D-Williams.

I think the suns fans should love this trade but Im not sure if Sarver will pay the extra 3 million or so. Do you think the jazz would do this or would they want a pick to be thrown in?

G- Nash/Dragic

G- barbosa/Tucker

F- Grant hill/Dudley/ BARNES(?)

F- Kirilenko/ Sweet LUE

C- Amare/ Lopez

P.S if the cavs could have had chanler instead of shaq that means the suns had the option of making it a three way trade so they would get back chanler + bad contract(?) instead of ben and sasha.

Also after typing a question mark after barnes multiple times I realized that I have no idea if he wants to come back or if the suns want him back ( and how much money he wants) - does anyone know anything about barnes?

Bright Side Of The Sun Shaq trade ideas.....

1. Shaq for kirilenko and CJ miles. (Maybe brewer instead of CJ Miles)

2. Shaq for T. Chandler and Contract..

3.Shaq for expiring contracts Dampier+ Stackhouse ( Buy out) and maybe a second round pick or two.

4.Shaq for Elton brand (GO TO WORK AARON NELSON) + Willy Green

4b. Shaq for Dalembert + willy Green

Just trying to start a spark some brain storming... What do you guys think of some of the ideas? If you have a good one of your own let it be known!

Bright Side Of The Sun Jared Dudley/ Fair salary

Since Jared Dudley's contract is up soon. What would you guys like to see management give him in terms of money and years?

On that note...

I also remember 82games.com did a well done article of fair salary (http://www.82games.com/0506/fairsalary0506.htm)

How much do you guys think each suns player deserves for this year? ( Playoff teams spend about 70- 75 million dollars on players)

I am looking forward to seeing everyone's opinions. : )

Bright Side Of The Sun Amare for.....

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=1727~125~312&teams=12~21~21&te=&cash=

Plus the clippers 1st round pick

We get Camby, a back up/ expiring contract and their first round ( hopefully blake or ricky robio)

I think this is the best possible trade not counting a nash+ amare for bosh calderon and  some scraps....

Do you guys think its a good trade and would the clippers do this in your opinion?
