Playoff Draft Results
In a basic pool with a couple friends, what do you think of my team? (G = 1, A =.5, GWG =1 // W = 2, L = -1, SO = 3)
H. Sedin
M. Gaborik
P. Datsyuk
B. Marchand
A. Radulov
A. Burrows
K. Letang
N. Kronwall
D. Seidenberg
K. Quincey
R. Luongo
Thinking I should do alright.....I tried to stay with a couple teams I think will do well, always a ton of luck in the playoffs though. Since my team isn't (and won't be for a while) in the playoffs (Flames......Fail) always good to add a little excitement/incentive to the playoffs.
Giroux for Crosby
Been wheeling and dealing the past week trying to upgrade my team. 1 Year, Points only, straight forward categories.
Traded Pacioretty for Lundqvist.......Not sure how that one happened.
Then traded Jack Johnson & Dubinsky for Eric Staal & Kronwall.
So far I think I've won these deals, as I think Staal was a buy low scenario but I think he'll turn things around.
My most intriguing offer is sitting on the table currently. My Giroux for his Crosby.
Giroux is second overall in Fantasy Points to Phil Kessel in our league, so definitely a top performer. I've had a ton of offers for him but haven't even really entertained any of them because Giroux is awesome. But Crosby is a gamechanger - if he is actually on the verge of coming back 100%, who knows what he could do.....it's a gamble for sure, but what do y'all think? Pull the trigger on this deal?
Keeper League Prospects
20 Team Keeper League (very deep), looking for some input. Currently drafting (still a few more rounds to go). Focused on the future.
H2H league, Pretty standard scoring categories.
Here is my team:
RW Patrick Kane, Chris Stewart, David Moss
C Patrick Berglund, Sean Couturier, Artem Anisimov
LW Alex Burrows, Curtis Glencross, Steve Ott
D Ryan McDonagh, Grant Clitsome, Ryan Wilson, Michael Del Zotto Douglas Murray, Marco Scandella, Ryan O'Byrne, Fedor Tyutin,
X F Pascal Dupuis, Blake Geoffrion, Matt Hallischuk, Matt Read, Ryan Jones, Kevin Westgarth (ENF)
G Pekka Rinne, Devan Dubnyk, Mark Dekanich (IR)
Minors
LW Austin Watson, Jeremy Morin
C Evgeny Kuznetsov, Teemu Hartikainen, Jared Knight, Justin Azevedo
RW Scott Glennie, Linden Vey, Tom Kuhnhackl
How does my team look, what should be looking to improve, etc. (Gonna to be drafting some D prospects & a Goalie in the last few rounds) I have a bunch of Salary Cap available while other teams are looking to get rid of pricey players - I want to improve my scoring and think I can add a guy like Lecavalier. what prospects are expendable/which ones should I hold on to?
Burns, RNH, Grabovski.
Brent Burns is hanging out on Waivers.
Current D: Letang, Erhott, Johnson, Enstrom.
Drop Enstrom? Drop one of my extra F? (Simmonds, Callahan, Prospal)
Leave him?
RNH & Grabovski are 2 other guys that are also on the wire.
Current C's are Giroux (C, RW) Bergeron (C) Dubinsky (C, LW) Prospal (C, LW)
Proposed trade with me sending Bergeron & Clowe for Zetterberg. Waiting on a response.
I know there's value in RNH & Grabovski - but more so than any of my guys?
Goalie Question.
So I have Cam Ward & Tukka Rask right now.
One thing I just noticed was that each position has a set number of games. For instance G has 164 games avaiable, I won't hit that with Ward or Rask so I am missing out on points there - but then there's my F - I have a ton of F, many with dual eligibility - I have a surplus of games with those guys.
Wondering if I should drop a F and pick up another backup - possibly Schneider, Bernier, Montoya?
Guys I was thinking of dropping: Vermette, Oshie, Dubinsky, Callahan. Or do you think it would be worthwhile to package 2 of these guys in a trade to open up a roster spot to bring in a goalie?
What do you think?

Picked 11th - Feel alright with my team - ran out of time and autopicked on Jack Johnson, figure he'll do alright. Also, took a gamble on Nabokov, should I swap him for Bernier, Scheider or Dubnyk who are on waivers?

Horton & Ladd
These two guys have failed me miserably in the past couple of weeks.
My team is middle of the pack and I'm trying to make a push to get back into contention.
Last couple of moves: - Traded Sharp & Timonen for B. Richards & Boyes, then dropped Bertuzzi & picked up the Wiz.
- Dropped Lindback, upped Roloson.
- Waiting on a waiver wire that'll see me drop S. Kostitsyn & up Raymond.
Wondering if I should get rid of either Horton/ Ladd. Combined are a -9 (fantasy point wise) the past 14 days, +6 last 30 days. Which = alot of points that I'm missing out on.
Some guys that are FA's: Connolly, Doan, Kane, Versteeg, Benn, Tambellini, Bailey.
Really torn between dropping them and they start producing again & keeping them to see other guys rack up points.
Suggestions.
Currently sitting 5/11 in a 1YR G, A, +/-, PPP, SHP, GWG (X2), Goalies: W (3), L (-2) SO (3).
Have made a bunch of moves in the past week 1. Malkin for Zetterberg, Ladd. 2. P. Kane fr Briere. 3. Nash, Stoll for M. RIchards 4. Thornton, Giroux for Sharp, Horton.
That last move was to add some depth to my LW as Sharp is C/LW. (I had 3 Philly RW)
My team looks like this:
C - Richards, Zetterberg, Getzlaf, Carter C/RW, Sharp C/LW, Burmistrov
RW - Briere, Horton, Bertuzzi
LW - Ladd, Tanguay, S. Kostitsyn, Tambellini
D - Martin, Timonen, Visnovsky
IR - Okposo RW, Mueller C/LW
G - Price, Hiller
Is there any moves that I should make? Would dropping Tambellini & picking up another goalie be something worth looking at? Notable FA G's are Lindback, Garon, Backstrom, Boucher, Niemi.
Or should I pick up a 4th dman? Would rather have more Forwards, but some available D are Klesla, Myers, Suter, Yanick Weber, Mitchell.
Have been climbing from the basement for a while now, a lot of my guys started pretty cold this year. On paper my team looks way better than the dude who's in first, but he seems to be squeaking a ton of pts out of the guys he has & he's making it work.
Any advice would be appreciated!
What the future holds for 2011.
There is a lot of uncertainty with this Flames squad right now. I know chances they have of making the playoffs let alone making a splash in them are fairly slim this year. Speculation regarding either a rebuild, trades, or "staying the course" has been thrown around for the last month or so.
With Darryl's tendency to give everyone & their cousin a NTC/NMC, there aren't many options as far as a complete decimation to the roster goes. Add to that we are currently up to the cap & aren't getting much relief next year, and you are left with some weary fans.
Here is what we could look like next year if we "stay the course". (Regards to PrairieStew for this work)
FORWARDS Jarome Iginla ($7.000m) / Niklas Hagman ($3.000m) / Matthew Stajan ($3.500m) Rene Bourque ($3.333m) / David Moss ($1.300m) / Ales Kotalik ($3.000m) Olli Jokinen ($3.000m) / Raitis Ivanans ($0.600m) / Mikael Backlund ($1.270m) Tom Kostopoulos ($0.916m) / Curtis Glencross ($2.300m) / Tim Jackman ($0.550m) Alex Tanguay ($3.200m)
DEFENSEMEN Jay Bouwmeester ($6.680m) / Robyn Regehr ($4.020m) Mark Giordano ($4.020m) / Cory Sarich ($3.600m) Brendan Mikkelson ($0.750m) / Adam Pardy ($0.750m) T.J. Brodie ($0.733m)
GOALTENDERS Miikka Kiprusoff ($5.833m) /Henrik Karlsson ($0.650m)
BUYOUTS: Nigel Dawes ($0.141m)
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $59,400,000; CAP PAYROLL: $60,149,166; BONUSES: $600,000 CAP SPACE (22-man roster): -$749,166
Roster is based on the notion that: A) Glencross, Tanguay, Mikkleson, Pardy & Karlsson are resigned to new contracts, B) Babchuk, Staios, Morrison are shown the door, C) Brodie cracks the line up next year.
Yikes. Staring at that for too long might turn you into an Oilers fan. It got me thinking about what we could do, what direction we could take, and how it could happen. Just thought I would throw some ideas out there and create some discussion while in turn distracting us from the problematic future that awaits us.
Some possibilities:
Devin Setoguchi - With the uprise of rookies in SJ, "The Gootch" looks like the odd man out. His point totals have dropped since a breakout year in 08/09 (could be attributed to his slide in the depth chart) and he seems to be in the doghouse. He's an RFA next year and San Jose has a pretty shallow depth chart on the back end, which got me wondering wether Setoguchi could be had for Glencross & Pardy. Setoguchi has more offensive upside than GlenX & is exactly the type of player we need.
Hagman to Dallas, Nashville, Buffalo, Anaheim, Tampa, Washington at the deadline.
Although Hagman is a pretty good player and I wouldn't mind him sticking around, he's also one of the few guys without a NTC/NMC with any perceived value. I could see a fringe playoff team with some cap space looking to add a solid forward for an extra push. A return would hopefully be in the form of a good pick & young player, but who knows, I think if anyone moves, Hagman is near the top of the list sheerly based on his movability. We have too many guys on this team making 3M, Hagman although the best, looks like he's the one to go.
Those are just two ideas I had. Smaller moves that address some of the issues we have. What is everyone else thinking? I know Iginla has been involved in some rumors, it'd be sad to see but who knows. The thought of Darryl making a move of that importance really scares me.
