Chilly the Chump

I will start off by saying I think this is going to be a disastrous move for the Vikes. Now if brittfar manages to get them to the superbowl I will be the first to admit I was wrong and as much as I have disliked him in the past, I'll take a superbowl victory any way I can get it. I just don't think it's gonna happen and I will let Favre's record in the playoffs speak for itself.

However I want to focus on one aspect: the credibility of the coaching staff. Favre has made them look like chumps. He clearly just didn't want to go through training camp, and apparently he can do whatever he wants. Childress said he wanted a decision by camp, Favre gave him one, and he said that is the end of it. Now, training camp over, Favre waltzes in and says he's ready to play. How can Childress have credibility in the locker room? How will the players be able to believe anything he says? How will they react to the fact that Favre is clearly held to a different standard than the rest of the team? One of the reasons I think this is a disaster is that it has the potential to destroy any semblance of locker room chemistry, and that will be important late in the season when the going gets tough. If they hit a rough stretch in the middle of the season how will they hold together?

I want to be wrong, but I think this has a real potential to backfire, and if the season implodes the ownership group is going to look like fools and they will be the L.A. Vikings in 2012. It's a big gamble IMHO.

Before the end of the game.

I mean really, how hard is it to kick the ball out of bounds.

This second half has been one of the worst football performances I have seen in a while. This team is bad.

Ok now gus is down, will Tjack save the day? I doubt it but in any event this is clearly a very, very poorly coached team.

And maybe if Berrian managed to catch more than 1/3 balls thrown to him, that would help.

NFL: No Tampering by Vikes

According to Judd Zugland Roger Goodell has absolved the Vikings of any wrongdoing in the Favre Saga:

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell ruled this afternoon that the Vikings did not tamper with Brett Favre as the Packers claimed. The NFL has been investigating the claim for more than a week.

In his letter to the Packers and Vikings, Goodell said that, while those involved acknowledged conversations between Brett Favre and Vikings coaches, “None of those conversations suggest that Favre was soliciting a job or that other teams were soliciting his services.”

Needless to say this transparent attempt by the packers brass, who have botched this Favre thing about as badly as it could be botched, to drag in the Vikings and absolve themselves of blame has failed. Not that I needed any more reasons to hate the pack, but this is one.
