Spring Training Advice Needed

I'm pulling the trigger on a SpringTraining trip this March, and I would be grateful for any and all advice. Does anyone have ideas on places to stay, good eats, other points of interest near the...

Jerry Meals says its safe!

I'd call Jerry Meals a douchebag, but at least a douchebag has a useful purpose.....

I've seen enough....

Gene Collier says the time is now for Pedro Alvarez to start earning his $6 million dollar bonus, and I'm inclined to agree. Look, I love Indianapolis...lived there for many years. But Pedro didn't sign with the Indianapolis Indians...he was signed to mash balls over the Clemente wall. Are they trying to fix a problem that should have been fixed in Bradenton? If so, shame on the team. Is Pedro a head case? If so, shame on Pedro...time to pull up the big boy pants and do what you agreed to do when you signed on the line that is dotted. Can't be physical, because he is raking in AAA. I don't give a rat's patoot about trading for a first baseman. We don't need a trading partner to have Alvarez on the 25-man roster by 3pm today. I suspect they're hoping to salvage 1 game against the Cards and activate him for the roadie to let him get his feet under him away from the unrealistic expectations of a sold-out PNC crowd. OK, fine. Sunday it is. But not one day later.

Think bigger, seize the moment!

We may be out of the Beltran Sweepstakes, but Paul Ladewski sez: Not so fast... Here's the money quote, raising an issue I haven't seen raised yet: "Here's what else I like: The Clemente factor. Beltran hails from Puerto Rico, so I don't have to tell you who his main inspiration has been all these years. Think the guy would be a teeny-tiny bit motivated to uphold the standard that the great Roberto set decades ago? Right there in front of the Clemente Wall, no less?"
