Bleeding Green Nation Dear Howie Roseman

Good job. Seriously, I know some people are going to give you a ton of shit for this last loss. (But they are also the same people who thought this was a rebuilding year, the team would be 7-9 and Dallas would be competing for a superbowl)

My point is not to dwell on Sunday. Fuck, I mean this is Philadelphia right. And it wouldn't be a proper season without some sort of heart wrenching loss. If you have followed the Eagles long enough, there is an empty void where your heart used to be still from 2004.

Yet there is work to be done. I'll start with our most pressing needs.

RIGHT CORNER BACK - If we go through the same bs of thinking Ellis Hobbs, Dimitri Patterson, and Joselio Hanson are starting cornerbacks you have to be fucking out of your mind. Ellis is the closest, and now has had 2 serious, career threatening neck injuries. Don't get me started on Hanson and Patterson. They are depth for a reason.

Go get Nnamdi! Now. Seriously I'll go be his butler for the month if it makes it easier to get him. WE NEED A SHUT DOWN CORNER like 3rd world countries need food and water. If we go through free agency and the draft without getting an immediate impact player at right corner, Howie you should turn in your resignation. Realistically, we need a free agent much more than a rookie. Which brings me to my next point.

THIS TEAM HAS A 2-3 YEAR WINDOW WITH VICK. That's it. So there comes a point where you need to stop drafting rookies and bring in viable, proven free agents to do the job. These next positions I will list are all big needs and should be filled with a free agent.

1. DE/DT - T. Cole is getting up in age and is double teamed virtually every snap. We need a serious rusher, from the edge. I'm talking a Mario Williams/Just Tuck mold guy to come in a be a beast. Seriously, outside of Right Corner, there is no greater void in this defense.

2. RG, C, RT - For all the people saying ship Vick away, you should first take a look at the o-line you want Kolb to play behind. Seriously, this is some swiss cheese of an O-line. Mike McGlynn? Nick Cole? Reggie Wells? Winston Justice? I could live with Justice for another year, but think about how bad our protection was at the end of the year. If Vick gets sacked like he did, imagine what will happen to KK. It will make Clay Mattews look like he was a kid throwing another kid into the ball pit at discovery zone. You don't think the lack of protection was a large factor in Vick throwing more int's and fumbling more? I do. I know it's not all on the o-line, but when you get rushed non-stop all game opposing defenses are going to make plays.

Bleeding Green Nation Free Agency So far and looking forward to the draft

First off, the marlin jackson signing is a good one. If anyone saw Sean Jones or Macho cover Witten (yes I know you all did) you'ld know we desperately need help at safety. I know this guy's knees are suspect, but it's worth a shot. And the risk-reward is totally in the birds favor.

That said, I'm glad the front office hasn't jumped after all the big names dropped. I'll go position by position to illustrate my point.

Defense

DL- Trent Cole, Bunkley and Patterson are all solid players, and disregarding injury (knock on wood) we should be looking to add another DE and that's it. Peppers looks great on paper, but that contract chicago gave him doesn't. The draft will hopefully bring some better options at lower prices.

Linebackers- So who missed Stew? I did and so did the birds. He is a reliable guy in coverage who can stuff runners, More importantly he has great instincts. Jordan is solid outside as well. I also look for the f/o to add depth through the draft.

Secondary- Seems decent at this point, but I'd like to see us draft a CB or Safety for depth. (plus you never know if you'll get a gem)

Offense

O-line- F**K the andrews brothers. There I said it, but if anyone thinks they are going to come back and be a force you gotta be kidding me. I'm glad Stacey restructured and if he can play, its a huge bonus, but we need some help on the RG especially. I'd look for a free agent veteran to provide depth and a draft pick to groom as the heir apparent. I seriously doubt King Dunlap and Trevor Laws will ever really contribute so it's time to look elsewhere. Also with J. Jackson (enough Jacksons already, shits getting confusing) coming of the ACL, it be a good idea to source a reliable center as well.

Backfeild- You gotta problem with McCoy and Weaver? Me either, just get me a spell back for McCoy and were set.

Wide outs- Just give Jackson more money and we're set.

Tight End- I hope ingram can contribute, and Celek will hopefully have another great year. He could become a beast.

Quarterbacks- Saving the best for last. Honestly, move Mcnabb (i actually like the guy too.) It's just time, he's sitting lame duck and you have to get value for him while he has value. I wouldn't let a perennial probowler walk for nothing, would you?

Start Kolb. He might not win right away but neither did Aaron Rodgers, and he's doing just fine. IMO I'm glad we didn't rush him in, and it gave him time to learn with out being thrashed like David Carr. (minus the Ed Reed incident)

Deal Vick. Again with the whole McNabb thing, do you really want to have another aging vet on the bench? Get a decent back-up (like Garcia, Boller, anyone who can just come in and run the offense if shit hits the fan) and get your draft picks. This team has problems on defense, not offense. The more draft picks we get the better, and it will allow us to bolster our secondary, d-line and linebackers without much loss of production.

The only reason you keep McNabb is to win a superbowl, but if the d isn't capable of that, bring on the Kolb era. Seriously it's time. I expect Mcnabb and Vick to go draft day as well (but that's just me)

So if the front office were to get free agents, outside of peppers and chester taylor, who really would have made that big of an impact. Kampman had many of the same concerns as M. Jackson, but being this draft is big on DE's (and they have a much easier transition to the nfl versus a CB/Safety) lets just draft one instead.

So thats my thoughts. Back to work now...weak.
