Brew Crew Ball Nyjer Morgan to Brewers for Cutter Dykestra

MLB.com is reporting that Nyjer Morgan has been traded to the Brewera. Considering his relationship with the Cards, this should make for an interesting season. Morgan hit .253/.319/.314/.633 with the Nationals last year. Morgan is batting 1.000 against Catchers.

The Brewers gave up minor league prospect Cutter Dykstra, losing his dad's stellar financial advice, and cutting down on the team's sons of famous players quotient.

Asked to comment, Carlos Gomez probably swore in Spanish or something.

Brew Crew Ball Kevin Mench is back

With a surplus of giant hats left over after they DFA'd Frank Thomas, the Toronto Blue Jays realized that they had a need for a lefty mashing Shrek look-a-like. So, in exchange for cash considerations, Kevin Mench has been fished out of AAA and sent to Toronto.

Brew Crew Ball Tom Haudricourt "Brewers Essential"

Tom Haudricourt, who we all know and "love" from the JSonline, will be discussing his book Brewers Essential this Thursday, April 24 at the Schwartz Bookstore in Mequon (10976 N. Port Washington Rd.) at 7 p.m.... Will Haudricourt diss Gross? Will he dismiss questions about Gagne?

Brew Crew Ball Game Thread #30: Brewers vs. Cubs

The 17-10 Brewers take on the 14-14 Cubs, with Mark DiFelice taking the mound for the Brewers and Cory Bailey pitching for the Cubs.

There's a good chance both teams will be checking their watches throughout the game.

Brew Crew Ball Leyva gets the ax

From the Brewers Blog, Leyva hasn't been asked back for 2008.

For Nashville fans, the juicy bit comes at the end...

By all appearances, Leyva, 54, did a solid job as the Brewers' third base coach, so they probably have somebody else in mind for the job. The leading candidate probably is Frank Kremblas, who has managed Class AAA Nashville to the playoffs each of his three seasons with that club and is line for a promotion.

Personally, I can think of a of a few times were Leyva either sent a runner that he shouldn't have or vice versa, but I'm not sure if he's better or worse than the average base coach.

Brew Crew Ball Two game scoring questions

I was keeping score at the game for "fun" tonight, and I ran into to situations where I wasn't sure how to mark it.

So, what would you have put on the sheet when Maddux was thrown out at first?

Secondly, when Vargas tossed to Braun to run down the guy that was going to third (I think it was Greene?), how would you mark that?

Brew Crew Ball Game Thread #158: Nashville's Revenge

We've all heard about Rickie Week's amazing On Base Percentage since he returned from Nashville, but what about Carlos Villanueva? Since returning from the magic land of country music, He's only given up 4 Earned Runs in 19 Innings. He does seem to give up a bunch of hits and walks, but seems to be able to pitch out of it. He's going for his ninth win tonight, and six strikes outs would give him an even 100 for the year.

Brew Crew Ball Game Thread #156

Milwaukee returns home after some depressing losses in Atlanta to face the Saint Louis Cardinals.

It's the battle of "who wants it more" as both pitchers haven't had a W since the first of September, with Cardinal's Ace Adam Wainwright (13-11) facing master of the pulled up socks look, Dave Bush (11-10).

Brew Crew Ball LaPorta to spend the winter in Arizona

From jsonline.

The Brewers have assigned the minor leaguers who will play after the season in the Arizona Fall League and the Hawaiian Winter League.

Among those going to the AFL, considered a finish league for top prospects, is Matt LaPorta, the Brewers' first-round draft pick in June. Current draft picks usually don't go to Arizona but the Brewers are trying to get extra at-bats for LaPorta, who sat out several weeks after signing with a quadriceps injury.

Brew Crew Ball Prince Fielder gets a three game suspension

From the Journal

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder has drawn a three-game suspension for his run-in Sunday in Houston with home plate umpire Wally Bell.

As with most suspensions, Fielder is expected to appeal the decision, which would allow him to continue playing. Suspensions often are reduced on appeal.

Update [2007-8-15 17:55:35 by battlekow]: Bump!
