Derek Holland or Madison Bumgarner (fantasy related)
Given that Holland has been very impressive in AAA and MadBum has struggles mightily (although appears to be righting the ship somewhat), which would you prefer to have on your team for the next ten years? Both have some questions about their secondary stuff, although Hollands Fastball is 95+ fairly consistently and MadBum is just getting back to 91-92. Ideally bumgarner would recover his lost stuff, but he doesnt appear to have the makeup of a guy who can live with borderline average stuff
jose lopez or garrett jones in 5X5
batting average league, i think its lopez but what do you guys think? jones looked great last year but seems to be the guy most people think will really come back down to earth.

Grichuk or Heathcott
Obviously late round dynasty talk here, but if you could have one of these guys, which would it be? Grichuk had a not horrible beginning in the AFL hitting like 290/330/550 with double digit doubles and triples, 8 homers a ton of RBI and a few steals in only 250 AB but also a 9:65 BB:K ratio (numbers off the top of my head), He has tremendous power but gets bagged on a lot by Sickels etc.
Heathcott is pure tools but has yet to play a minor league game, scouts seem to like him more but do you guys put any stock in Grichuks performance to rate him higher than heathcott? I give no weight to the off the field issues by the way. I guess my thoughts are that I like Heathcott more but if Grichuk took a few walks I feel like he would be a top 50 prospect
ETA on Carlos Santana?
I know that he probably wont be a factor until 2010 at the earliest but do you think he gets a cup of coffee this year? Shoppach and Marson will have first dibs obviously but I dont really see either standing in Santanas way, do you?
Also curious about Eric Young JR, Desmond Jennings and Logan Morrison. Do you think they have a chance of being called up this year...is Brian Matusz the last top ten prospect we'll see in 2009?
Sean Rodriguez this year (fantasy keeper question)
So what do you guys think. A lot has been made of his MLB numbers and rightly so, but do the LAA plan on running Izturis and Aybar out there every night? This guy (and Wood) need to be in the lineup every day, is my opinion, and with Figgins and Morales, could actually prove to be a very good infield.
I guess my questions i regarding this year and as a fantasy league keeper, is S-Rod worth stashing away right now. At least worth it over Mazzaro or Alcides Escobar? I also have Mark Teahen actually playing right now but would consider dropping him since he isnt a long term plan kind of guy.
Can he help me this year (or next) or are we looking at the Brandon Wood scenario of the last 2+ years?
Quick help! My picks here!
So I never thought Id have the option, but here is who was drafted in our one round draft so far
1. Strasburg (me)
2. G. Beckham (me)
3. Hanson
4. Bumgarner (me)
5. Cahill
6. Posey
7. Alonso
8. Stanton
9. Lawrie
10. Andrus
So at pick 11, I never thought Id have this choice, but I can take:
Eric Hosmer
Neftali Feliz
Carlos Santana
Logan Morrison
Tim Beckham
Brett Anderson
I have a TON of young pitchers or Feliz is the easy pick here. Is he good enough to take anyway? Also, what do you guys think about the differences between Morrison, Santana, Hosmer, Beckham. Also I have pick 14 so another of these guys will be there as well.
So who would you take?
4th minor league pick in the 6th year of a deep keeper league. I am lucky enough to have acquired picks 1 and 2 and will be taking Strasburg (obv) and Gordon Beckham, mostly for need in that I will need someone to play soon as I cant keep all the MILB players for free.
So, Im assuming Bumgarner goes #3 but lets pretend that all these players are available, who do you take based on what you think they will do when they arrive.
Also, as a side note, would I be better served taking Bumgarner #2 and taking my chances with G. Beckham? He seems like a cant-miss bat who will play soon. Or do you guys think Feliz is the better prospect...Im curious to hear!!!
Zach Collier vs Isaac Galloway
Both struggled out of the gate in A-ball. Both outfielders are projected as 5-tool guys with lots of untapped potential. Galloway surprised people by taking fewer $$$ to sign with Florida in the 8th round. Some have viewed this as a sign that he didnt want to get shown up at college and hurt himself down the road. Collier was a supplemental first rounder but Im not sure that he was considering college at that time. From what I heard Collier looks more ready but maybe Galloway has more upside. Who would you rather have for future fantasy purposes?
Deep prospects for last rounds of MILB draft?
Hey all, first post here. Considering drafting some of the recent international signings in rounds 18,19,20 of our 14 team MILB draft.
Im looking at:
OF Eduard Sosa
OF Kelvin DeLeon
OF Juan Duran
OF Yorman Rodriguez
OF Rafael Rodriguez
SS Hak-Ju Lee
Im not sure if anyone has ideas on ranking these guys? I think Sosa is probably the top guy right now but all of them are so raw...its hard to judge.
Also considering OF Zach Collier (Phi), 3B Austin Gallagher (LAD), SS Ryan Flaherty (Cubs), 3B Juan Francisco (Cin), SS/RHP Mychal Givens (HS),
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
