If you all thought Fitz was bad

Have you guys ever listened to the Blazers commentators? They are putting me to sleep. Super monotone.

But Warriors related in a round-a-bout way....

If you were the Neil Olshey (Clips GM) would you trade Blake Griffin if it meant getting Dwight Howard?

As a Warriors fan, would you be more worried/less worried/ remain freaked out no matter what, with a combo of Howard and CP3?

Dwight has added the Clippers as a team he would play for, but they won't be able to get anything done unless they traded Griffin.....

But not for Dwight. I say we trade

Ellis/Lee/trade exception for Hedo/Orton/Anderson/Richardson/Duhon/pick.

The pick and TE are not necessary though.

Why would Orlando do this? Dwight is VERY, VERY high on Ellis, and getting him will increase the likelihood of Dwight re-signing. Plus David Lee is a great complement to him as well (who isn't). The major downside though is their cap will be bogged down big time. But, Ellis and Arenas (if he isn't amnestied) expire at the same time--3 years--so they can blow it up around then. Kills their depth, but they can work around that. Trading for Lee's contract isn't ideal, but if it means keeping Howard, its worth it imo.

For GSW, it would change the dynamic of the team. This is largely based on Chandler signing with us, but we most of all get depth. Except Orton, all have shown they can play in the NBA.
We also get some cap relief in the short term--$2.7mm this year up to 3.8mm in '13-14. Huge savings >$10mm in '15-16 (albatross part of Lee contract). We might take a small step back this season, but it would be worth it if we can keep our pick.

If we sign Chandler, we would have pretty good pieces headlined by Curry to make a play for Paul. The relationship between Chandler and Paul AS WELL AS Mike Malone and Paul can be very helpful to get him to sign an extension with us. Yes, we won't be the favorites to land him, but we at least increase our likelihood...

I'm really liking our coaches right now. Strong willed, no nonsense coaching.

I don't care that he can't shoot 3's well, that David Lee is a 4, and he can't play the 3. We need to go after him. Play Lee at the 5 if need be. Take back a bad contract if we need to. Trade our pick and Ekpe.

Plus 2 and 20 pick.

Ridnour is decent backup pg--certainly better than what we have now, imo.

Wayne Ellington is 6'4 200, can give spot min at either G spot, and has a cool name.

Pekovic is thrown in to make salaries work. Plus, he's big and can give 6 fouls.

Pick 2: either Kanter/Williams doesn't matter both could help our team.

11: best wing available, emphasis on defense/length on tie.

20: Faried. Dude is in the mold of Blair, Hayes, etc, aka a banger. Undersized 4 who's idol is the Worm.

Plus, we get $1.6 to a big. Or we can dangle those picks to get into next year, or try D12 (who we will never get)

Better question, would we do this?

Golden State Of Mind March Madness Thread

Since March Madness is upon us, and there are quite a few players the Warriors could/would/should draft, I thought I'd start a thread to consolidate it all

To start--Jared Sullinger: Yes, I know his numbers are great, yes I know he averaged 20-18 today (in a big matchup btw), yes he isn't a headcase (I think), BUT so did Tractor Taylor. I don't know about his body type and how he will hold up in the NBA. Maybe Tractor is a strong comparison, but you all get the point. I think he'll end up not living up to his draft status. If we pick at 11 as it goes now, we should get him there (unlikely). But if we happen to get a top 3 pick (also unlikely), I'd pass.

Obviously we're not making the playoffs.... use this to see our odds for each pick in the draft lottery.

Uses Hollinger's projected final records to chart the teams

*Disclaimer* Not a big stats guy, so educate me if(when) I'm wrong!!

Read that TOR may buyout Reggie's contract. Is he someone we should go after? Not much offense, but we don't need offense. He provides things we NEED: rebounding (16/36min, 34.8drb%, 26.2trb% better than Kevin Love for comparison) and toughness. Doesn't get too many defensive stats (blocks, steals) but I've always thought he was a strong defensive player--or as strong as an undersized big can provide.

Yea, we just signed Adrien, who is similar, but 8 years experience helps.

What do you all think?

Golden State Of Mind All-Overated Team

On detroitbadboys.com site, there is an article about the "All-Overated First and Second Team."

http://www.detroitbadboys.com/archives/2007-10-19/all-overrated-first-and-second-teams/

Considering it is a Pistons site, its not surprising to see Ben Wallace on there. There are other people on there as well, some being more surprising. Namely, The Yay's own Jason Kidd. Now I know most people would think this is wrong, since Kidd can be considered the modern day Magic, the last true point guard, etc etc but thats not why I'm posting this. Guess who made the second team all-overated?? Our very own MONTA ELLIS.

I for one semi-agree with the author that Ellis is overated. But thats not necesarily saying he's a bad player. Its just that I don't feel he is ever going to be able to reach the hype that we, as Warriors fans, and media members have created for him. Now, I love  him to death, no homo. The way he plays is exciting, he makes a ton of 'wow' plays and he gets me on my feet even at home. He has the potential to be a good player, maybe borderline All-Star, but honestly I don't see more than that. He can be an All-Star in the form of a Wally Sczerbiak (sp?) or Jamal Magloire, meaning players who at the time made sense but 5 years down the line, we wonder how he made it.

As a player, I see his ceiling as high as J-Rich. I mean this by how he impacts the game. Now, J-Rich is a pretty good player, so that wouldn't be a bad thing to achieve. But there are times where it feels like his presence was hurtin the Warriors more than helping. With Monta, I feel like he doesn't have a good enough handle, or a good enough jumper to take over a game, similar to Lebron did against the Pistons. Monta is going to be a good player, but he won't be "the player" if you get what I'm saying. J-Rich was a good player, crowd pleasin etc. but his deficiencies from the line, on defense, and for the most part in the clutch seemed to doom us. I miss him, and wish he was still on the W's, so I'm not just hating. But I see the same thing with Monta, his deficiencies coming back to hurt us more than help us. Like J-Rich, we will struggle if he is option #1.

I don't wanna seem all negative and what not, so if I am just let me know and I'll try to explain myself better. But I'm just stating my opinion after reading this article. I'm not trynna hate, as I said before based on what I believe as the expectations that have been placed on Monta, he is overated. That doesn't necesarily mean he's a bad player though.

Any thoughts, comments, or hatred on what I said or on the article. I encourage all to read it cuz its pretty interesting.

Golden State Of Mind USC...CAL

I know this isn't the right place to post this, so delete this if you like OZ. But I just got off work and found out that USC lost 24-23 to Stanford. STANFORD!!! the school with a tree for a mascot. Cal's Palo Alto neighbors.

This is really good news for Berkeley fans. The Golden Bears are going to at least be ranked number 2 in the polls, and with LSU barely pulling through against Florida, Cal has the slight possibility to be ranked numero uno.

Although this is really exciting  it is probably moot though considering Cal-USC face off next week. And it could be dangerous for Cal because the Trojans will probably be hungry after this loss. But for at least a week Cal will be number 2 or possibly 1. And if they beat USC next week, they are in good shape.

Once again, I know this isn't the right forum, so delete it if needed, but I've seen other Cal related info here before.....and im just mutha f***in juiced!

Golden State Of Mind question about contracts...

With the signing of T-Hud and Croshere, I have a question regarding their contracts. I know that the NBA is paying apart of both players contracts for whatever reason, but how much of that contract counts against the salary cap? The entire portion or is it just the portion that Warriors are paying?? Thanks for the help

Golden State Of Mind darrell armstrong?!?!

According to Tim Kawakami and his latest blog, the Warriors should go after Darrell Armstrong, instead of Jason Williams. What does everybody think about this???

http://www.mercextra.com/blogs/kawakami/2007/09/18/jason-williams-a-warrior-not-likely-because-darre ll-armstrong-makes-much-more-sense/

I for one wouldn't like this because Armstrong is 40 years old and I doubt he could run with us. He does not seem like a good fit.
