Some of you might remember me as the "Final Solution" guy who proposed a package of Maggs/Wright for Gerald Wallace (most won't). In any case, I've spent the last year watching our beloved Warriors toil in obscurity, shifting into the inevitable Lakers '05 phase of Monta's budding career (i.e., Monta demanding the ball and playing one-on-five, leaving his teammates to twiddle their thumbs.) On the bright side, we've seen Curry defy our preconceptions of his limited physical attributes, blossoming into one of the league's most promising point guards. With the offseason more or less shaken out, the new Warriors brass seem to want to build around Curry and David Lee (who's trade and contract I tend to agree with - starters win titles, fellas, not benches), Monta seems to have worn out his welcome (however unfair of a chance he was given) and many a trade idea's been bandied about along the lines of "LOL W'S - MONTA + IGUODALA/GRANGER = WE ALWAYS BELIEVED!!!!!!!!" Those trades, however, are unlikely to happen. Would I trade Monta + expirings for AI/Brand? Perhaps...probably yeah. Would I trade Monta for Granger, straight up? Of course I would. Door-L ain't the answer, folks. Would the Pacers or Sixers keep Riley on the phone for more than a second or two, though? Not bloody likely. So why not bandy about a more realistic trade (as far as dream trades go?) Why not trade Monta to a team with a gaping hole at the 2? Why not trade Monta for Luol Deng?

Why not, indeed. Thoughts?

Golden State Of Mind Brandan Wright...?

Is any Warrior more of a question mark than Brandan Wright? GSOMers almost universally have hailed him as a potential All-Star, stat geeks like Hollinger have been raving about the guy since the 07-08 preseason, and he boasts the second highest PER on the team behind Goose. So what gives?

For one thing, he's injury-prone. In the last two years he's yet to play in even half of the season's games. Though a healthy Brandan Wright is the best low-post scorer on the team, he can't keep himself in good enough shape to earn a starting spot. This offseason should be interesting; the emergence of AR4 coupled with (one would assume) Wright's continued improvement should ultimately drive both to work their butts off for the starting gig.

What I can't wrap my mind around is why, then, GSoM is in such a hurry to trade him. You guys are quick to point that he's the Warriors most attractive trade chip and, yet, he seems to be the answer to the Warriors' woes down low, both offensively and defensively. Granted, I posted a Wright/Maggs-for-Gerald Wallace swap on this very blog a few weeks ago, but after having watched Portland (though they lucked into a budding superstar and have a savvy GM) build a contender through the draft and patience, I'm having second thoughts.

So what happens next?

Golden State Of Mind The Warriors' Savior

It's so simple. The Warriors need a perimeter defender who can score, rebound and allows Jack to move to shooting guard. The Bobcats need scoring and another big (since Sean May's pretty much a bust at this point).

Why don't the Warriors trade Maggette and Wright to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace?

But dubs, Charlotte traded Wright. Why would they want him back?

When they traded Wright, the jury was still out on Okafor. Now that a few years have passed and the league's seen that Okafor isn't the franchise center they expected (or anyone else in their frontcourt, for that matter), Wright would be a perfect fit. His offensive game and rebounding skills are the perfect complement to the shot-blocking Okafor.

Ok, but why would they want Maggette? He's just an injury-prone ballhog.

As far as I can remember, Maggette's never played with a decent point guard. I think the best so far he's played with is Livingston? With natural point guards in Augustin and Felton, Maggette wouldn't need to feel like he needs to play iso to score (though he probably still would). Plus Charlotte doesn't have too much scoring.

Well what's in it for GS? No one can hit the 3, dubs.

Which is why Azubuike's our sixth man! Between Buike, Morrow, CJ, and Belinelli and Jackson when they're on, the Warriors have plenty of sharpshooters. Plus, the Warriors pick up a defensive hustler who doesn't care about being the number 1 in a system. If you ask me, a lineup with Biedrins, Randolph, Wallace, Jackson and Monta can and will win a lot of games.

What do you think?
