Stumptown Footy Galaxy Vs Timbers meet up?

I'm originally from Portland just moved to LA this year and my roommate and me are going to the game in two saturdays. I honestly don't know much about the area where the game is being played being that I live on the northern edge of LA. So that brings me to the question, is there a meet up place for A- Local Timber fans near the stadium or B- What is sure to be a large group of traveling Army members?

Thanks a lot any info would be great. PTFC!! Oh and i'm moving back in June  yeeee!

Blazer's Edge Blazer fans support Portland Beer!

For some unforeseen reason Asheville North Carolina has a percentage point lead on Portland in this poll for the title of Beer City USA. Personally as a Portland resident and genuine beer fan, this is a title we deserve! Don't let some village of 75 thousand people on the east coast take our trophy. Do the right thing and vote for your town and your beer! If you're underage disregard this post and go finish your biology homework or something.

Addicted To Quack Congrats to Aaron Brooks NBA's most improved

This article briefly explains AB-0's successes in the 2009-10 season, In my opinion most impressively helping to keep the Rockets minus Yao Ming +.500. nevertheless here is the article. If the Rockets get Ming back and king Martin they will again be a playoff threat for years to come, especially with Brooks running the show. I knew he was one of the quickest college basketball players I had ever seen play, but i wasn't expecting him to take NBA defenders out of their shoes as well.

- Grats to our boy!

Blazer's Edge We will win without Roy

First of all, I'm clinically insane, false... And there is no second. Nate feels more comfortable playing up tempo when Roy isn't around, fact being our line-up actually fits that mold way more than you'd expect. Name 3 other big men outside of LA who get out as fast on a fast break? There aren't any, not to mention if we play Rudy at the 1 which I assume due to the lack of good play of  Bayless Nate will have to do. Also in his later years Nash can't guard anyone we have at the 1, so there it is. attack and kick. I know that is the PHX game plan.. but in this case, beat fire with fire. We have a better driving point guard and our outside shooters are more proven. I think most people will pick the suns in this series but seriously I don't think Brandon (in this series) means the world.

Any consolation, I don't remember writing this, BUT THAT IS HOW MUCH I BELIEVE!

Addicted To Quack Pent up frustration and a battle for ninth place...

Errrrr 8th place? Depends on what anyone would like to classify USC''s basketball season as. Needless to say the final Pac ten game at Mac court is essentially for second to last place. As a bright eyed freshman in 2006 I entered the UO community at a time of prosperity in terms of the basketball program. Aaron Brooks was running the show and the pit was a ticket people would nearly give life and limb for. Let me be clear that team was great, maybe one of the best in the history of the school. Losing to the eventual 2 time national champion isn't anything to be disappointed in. The one game I missed due to egregious scheduling was the UCLA , towards the end of a restless winter break. One in which Brooks put the team on his shoulders and willed us to one of the more exciting victories in Mac Court's history. Does anyone else miss those days? I would think the bulk of you share similar sentiments coupled with a sour taste of current happenings. What happened?............. Simple question with a complex and not so clear answer.

-- First problem, we recruited big men. This is equivalent to the Russian nuclear program of the cold war. Sure in relation to the United States obtaining such technology is clearly desirable. But when it gets down to the nitty gritty we have no idea how to control them or use them in effective manner, oh and their abundance is laughable in comparison to our most hated foes. Eugene has become a Grenoble of basketball talent sitting dormant seeping through occasionally to give us energy and excitement just to eventually poison is with sweet sweet radiation. That analogy is something I'm working on.

-- Second Issue, and not mutually exclusive from the first. Ernie fucking Kent. Cliche as it seems, he deserves all the flack that has been thrown his way. Generally teams don't have the best recruiting class in their history followed by two of the worst seasons of the decade. One thing i don't question is his ability to bring talent to Eugene that in most cases we have no business obtaining. But alas that is not half the battle and will certainly never win you a war. Who is coaching these kids? My sister who occasionally watches basketball would be able to point out our outstanding ability to rarely get off a good look at the hoop in the 35 seconds we're allotted. Not to mention the form of zone defense which must have been drawn up by an individual with extreme claustrofobia for that is the only reason such an atrocious perimeter scheme would EVER exist.

--- Complacency, by everyone. This one is something that needs to be shared with the whole Duck community. What happened to mac? since when is the average age at a basketball in the mid 60's? This isn't to say I have something against the elderly, I love my grandparents like the rest of you. But remember those days when the burnt orange rims stood little chance against the fierce energy Mac Court was able to create on a night in and night out basis? People, rims don't shake everywhere and it isn't something we should have ever taken for granted. We can get on the players for not believing in themselves but at some point we have to believe in them as well. The lack luster environment i've seen especially over the past two years is something that the average patron of Autzen would look at with a wary eye. When did the dichotomy between expectations for our Football and basketball program even come to this point? For lack of a better phrase, STAND THE FUCK UP AND DO SOMETHING. Are you here to watch a sporting event or observe an appendectomy? The students can only do so much and half of them have even checked out and become apart of the problem. I'm sorry if it seems like i'm venting some frustration, but that is exactly what I intended on doing (You were even forewarned before you clicked to read this).

I'm excited about tomorrows game and as I write this my eyes feel heavy with the transgressions of last night and my stomach is pitted in a knot that won't be fixed by a win over Washington state. I just want to see some heart, in the players and in the fans.

Here is to you Mac court, and here is to the great fans who have filled your seats for over 80 years.

A most gracious, thank you

Addicted To Quack More Lethal Weapons than Danny Glover?

Yes you heard it here first. Nothing like a drunk free style rap to express how you really feel. In fact I bet Chris Leak is somewhere in this fine world still upset over the sheer dis he received in this video. Nothing more to say, basically i'm just a procrastinating college student right now finding a reason not to finish two ten page papers due tomorrow, cheers!  I hope another drunk OSU fan comes up with something as amazing as This Gem.

Addicted To Quack So Stanford is...

That good, at least right now. For as much as we made USC look silly those Trees from Palo Alto rubbed the trojans face in their proverbial turd about 5 times as bad.. and in their own back yard. All i have to say about the last two weeks of Cardinal football is that I am ridiculously impressed. In a perfect world our duckies win out and thats all there is to it. I'd be happy to see Stanford finish a strong second winning out as well. But to be honest this win over USC puts us in a bit of a pickle pending these last two games as i'm sure most of you have realized by now. But key thing to remember is, we do our part  and no one can touch us. Go ducks and congrats Cardinal.

Addicted To Quack Rivals 120 countdown, Oregon comes in at......17?

While I really don't disagree with what rivals had to say in their article critiquing the ducks I suppose I just don't understand after all of their explanation they rated our offense a B, I mean really? I understand the genuine concern for the offensive line but the only certainties in Eugene Oregon of late have been rain, hippies, and the offensive line. It just seems in the system we run our O-line is if not great at the very least efficient. The same reason I found no surprise our touted defensive backfield underachieved. In fact the antithesis of the Secondary is our Offensive line. No matter who we have thrown in as a converted center or a makeshift tackle things seem to work themselves out. In contrast we can have the best safeties and D-backs on paper and very easily have "cough" Nick Aliotti" "cough" royally screw things up. Maybe this is opinion I share by myself as I chew on the things I need not worry about for another good month, but I thought i'd share this and open it up for opinions.

Blazer's Edge Why not Andre Miller?

With Sergio gone the already tumultuous and now less deep position of point guard seems even more wide open. Blake didn't show up in the playoffs and how much can we count on the drive and shoot first point guard play of a young Bayless? While Miller is at the age of 33 he has started every game over the last two season for Phili and scoring over 16.5 with 6.5 assists and an outstanding 4 boards from the 1 spot over that time span. He does not posses the explosive threat of a Bayless or the Three point dagger of Blake but he is extremely solid and has shot over 47% four out of his last six seasons. While common sense would tell us he is on the decline, he just seems to keep steadying the ship and improving. Even if he does have a drop off next year I don't think any Blazer front office personnel or fan would scoff at 15, 5 and 3. Just something to chew on.

Blazer's Edge Jump shooting rarely wins championships

No matter how nice you find Travis outlaw or friendly Steve Blake may seem to you in post game interviews SOMETHING has to be done about our current roster. As Larry Bird acts as the exception which proves the rule the blazers got blown out of the water by a Rocket team that took advantage of our poor defensive efficiency and our inability to penetrate and score. Every time I watch Outlaw as soon he pulls up and jumps forteen hundred feet in the air to just put up a 15 foot jumpshot I stare at the cieling and ask WHY? On occasion the ball hits the bottom of the net and I rejoice and everything has shifted to an equilibrium of righteousness in my Blazers world. But this just breeds compacency and that is exactly what it seems the Blazers stand for about now.

I would like to think that the flashes of Martell 2 years ago where he took his near Lebron esc frame to the bucket would be a prospect of the future, and we won't have to make a move to improve our offense when it gets down to the nitty gritty but i'm not so sure that is the case.

Honestly i'm not really sure what the tone or purpose of this fan post is. I'm a fan and I wanted to vent my most pressing concern. We need someone who can get to hole who isnt named Brandon Roy. Especially on that second line which takes more outside shots than any team in the NBA should be allotted.

K bye Blazers Edge.

Blazer's Edge What we need to do to beat the L*kers

Bring back Arvydas Sabonis and have him toss bowling passes to Rudy and B Roy on the baseline all game.. Okay ready? BREAK!

Sabas92_medium

via thehype.files.wordpress.com

Look at that fine young man and his beautiful form at the free throw strike. It appears this is also when he had legs that were more useful.

As for actually beating the Lakers. stop Kobe Box out Lamar who loves getting the scrappiest rebounds. I don't mind letting the "machines" and the Farmars of the world going for 10 as long as it takes them 13 shots to do so.

Blazer's Edge How the hell did this make the AP?

http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=290227016

"In three seasons in the NBA, the Trail Blazers forward has been disappointing. But with his team in the running for a playoff berth, Roy is making a point to lead his team by doing more than scoring -- even if it comes at the expense of his teammates' feelings."

Brandon Roy is a Forward and has been a disappointment? Those are two things i wasn't aware of. Not to mention by saying he needs to score more at his teammates expense is basically a comment taken out of context. The whole thing is a blatant piece of stupid journalism.

Addicted To Quack Boyd to make decision Tuesday

According to rivals Tajh Boyd 4 star Quarterback out of Hampton VA has a press conference set for 5 pm eastern time where he will make his final choice. He has boiled it down to Oregon, Ohio State and late arrival and maybe the Duck's largest threat Clemson.

At this Point I'd like to say i'm confident He will choose the green and yellow. But i'm a little scared the distance may be too far and Clemson may have just stolen Boyd. I honestly don't see him going to OSU and playing 3 years behind Pryor, seems counter productive for a guy who seems to want to play right away.

Addicted To Quack Will we get swept by the Beavers?

No one wants to talk about, hypothesize or merely think about the prospect of our northern neighbors beating us twice this putrid basketball season. But the way I see it at the very least we lose in Corvallis and to be honest I give us maybe a 60 percent chance to win at home. Too early to worry? I honestly think we pick up a win at home.. maybe one of at most 3 wins we get all season.

How do the rest of you see this playing out?

Lookout Landing Pike Street stench lingers all the way in Oregon

MMM dead fish

I had about 500 words written and i accidentally Highlighted it and hit the space bar, and as if it were an act of god my piece of literary genius had vanished. So I leave you with a  synopsis.

Mariner fan vs Giant fan.

- I am from Eugene and go to U of O over a third of our student body is from California. and the Giants have been vaguely more competitive in the Putrid NL west. And yet through all of their Wiley veterans on the brink of collecting social security a lot like the Mariners Left field and third base position over the years these fans still have hope, hell they have more than that. And you know what it all comes down to one player. Tim Lincecum. I mean lets be serious Omar Vizquel and Ray Durham up the middle would have been formidable during the [politics]. But here i sit as a pessimistic whiney Mariner fan along with I would assume a few other Frustrated Seattlites with little faith that we can hit 2.50 against the Rangers number 4. Fanhood seems night and day, and yet the rosters are anything but.

Also the prospect of now driving 5 hours instead of 3 (from my home town Portland) seems ridiculously daunting.

Oh and Hi to all of you. I'm new
