Red Cup Rebellion College Football Fans by the numbers

 http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/09/19/the-geography-of-college-football-fans-and-realignment-chaos/

I saw this article in the NYTimes - an interesting perspective on realignment.   I must say that some of the conclusions are not very believable.  As many commenters point out, the methodology clearly gives too much credit to proximity to major markets; for example, the results say GA Tech has 60% more fans than UGA, clearly accrediting GA Tech with the Atlanta market, when it really may not even be in the top 3 of fanbases in the Atlanta market.  So some of the specific results are out of whack, but in general, it seems pretty accurate, and is definitely interesting.

Red Cup Rebellion Honors College gets shout out

It's great to see positive mentions of Ole Miss in the academic realm.

The Debt Crisis at American Colleges, The Atlantic

Flagship universities are also creating their own "honors colleges," often with special housing, seminars, and faculty advisers. We visited Barrett College at Arizona State University ($8,132) and Barksdale College at the University of Mississippi ($5,438) and rank them among schools with national names.

That's some pretty impressive company to be a part of (not ASU, but the rest of the article).
