Blogging The Boys Great win.....but.....

Can't we ever win a game by 10 or 17 or 20 points????  We continue to make mistakes and leave teams in the game until the very end.  Were not going to make the big play every game....not to mention its taking a toll on our starters.  I know we have a lot of injuries but we have to find a way to score.  The Giants have more injuries than we do and they go into Philly and blow them out.  All the young guys have to study....no excuse for not know what the play is.

Just saying.

Blogging The Boys Let's give Kitna some props....

He has arguably been our best player this year.  Many were very afraid to see what a Romo-less team would be.  It is different but not all that bad.  Obviously the coaching change was a big factor and I'm sure Miles isn't all that excited that the vertical aspects have diminished to a degree but....

  • You can see he is the leader (will get in peoples grill)
  • You can see he is smart (haven't seen many balls into double coverage)
  • You can see he competes (I like him best when he is pissed!)
  • He makes plays when he needs to (only real loss was the Philly game, Roy blew NO)

Don't get me wrong, I still like Romo and think he can take us to the promised land, but we are very lucky to have Kitna.  I have the Sunday ticket and watch every game and see the other backups (and some very bad starters!) and most of them are just bad....shouldn't even be on the field (Croyle, Smith & Smith, Jackson, Henne, Hasslesuck and many more).

Ask yourself this....if San Francisco has Kitna, are they winning the West going away?  I say yes.

Good job Jon, I have enjoyed watching you play.  Hopefully someday the rest of the team will take their job as serious as you (YES YOU MIKE JENKINS!....cut your hair, shut your mouth, quit taking chances and do your job!...the fans pay your salary...never forget that!!!)

Blogging The Boys Earn your job each week...am I wrong?

Prepare for more of the same for the remainder of the season.  Why?  Wade, Garrett, Houck, all of the coaches....way too nice...player's coaches as they so kindly call them.  Don't want to hurt anybodys feelings.

Davis, Columbo, Ball.  Three guys who should not be playing anytime soon.  Davis and Columbo have been brutal all year and the only time you see Ball is when he is showing up late for an already completed touchdown pass (has he defended a pass the entire year?).  We finally pulled Davis but he will start next week because he is a "Pro Bowler".

Are you kidding me???  Does anyone think Bellichek, Ryan, Tomlin, Harbaugh or Reid would be keeping these guys on the field????  YOU SHOULD HAVE TO EARN YOUR JOB EVERY WEEK!!!!!  Nothing should be guaranteed...lets see guys like Church or Assawhoever (?) at safety and Young or Brewster on the O-line!  How much worse can they be?...and don't tell me the coaches see them in practice!!...they see the other guys suck in the live games, where it really counts!  Lets throw the young guys in the water and see if they can swim.

Anyone with me here?  or am I nuts.

Blogging The Boys Clarity - Another version (kind of?)

First let me say that like most of you I am the type of Cowboys fan that gets very close to physically sick when they lose, so I needed to wait to see clearly again before making this post.  I don't post often, but feel the need to vent to my therapist (you guys!...this can't be good).

I have accepted the following are no longer concerns....they are facts that we all must know and accept as reality:

1) We can't run the ball.  Our offensive line does not have the ability to drive anyone off the ball.  I don't know why, I've seen all kinds of reasons on this board...either way it doesn't matter, there is constant and consistent penetration on running plays.  Also, its obvious to me (maybe only me?) that Felix is not an every down back...he runs high and does not find or hit the holes with authority.  Barber can hit the hole, but doesn't get to the next level quick enough to concern the safetys.  From what I have seen in the past (last years Steeler's game) Choice looks like the back we need.  He runs low, finds the hole and hits it quick...gets every available yard....what am I missing?

2) Our secondary is average.  Now I'm not saying we are bad, but watching the Cincy, Baltimore game...we are no where close to them.  When we blitz and go man guys are running free and we are always a yard behind.  No quarterback is scared to challenge any of our corners.  I really, really miss Darren Woodson....our pressure D requires a play making safety...I am seeing way too much of the back of Alan Ball.  He is invisible unless you are watching him chase someone.  How about a pass breakup?...a play on the ball?....take somebody's freaking head off?

3) The team thinks their good.  You want your team to have confidence, but its obvious we "chugged the Koolaid".  We are playing tight, not to make mistakes...which usually causes more mistakes.  Chicago played with nothing to lose...we played not to lose.  Team, if your reading this by any slim chance....this is not college football, you can't get voted in...you need to execute and win a few games.  Tampa Bay has a two game lead on you.  Right now your not good.  Your just overpaid.  A couple more losses and all this talk to our "talent" will be a distant memory.

4) Our coaches need to improve as well.  Mike Martz made some great adjustments to offset the early pressure and we never readjusted.  Their defense went to a bend, but don't break defense trusting we would make mistakes, which every other team we play will do as well.  The other coaches believe we cannot sustain a drive and put it in the endzone...we are not patient enough, we want/need the big play, we will make a drive killing mistake.  Now, we may do it for one drive but we simply cannot do it back to back and force the other defense to change.  We continue to make mistakes, there is no accountability....just shoulder slumping.

I hope I look back on this later in the season and am just dead wrong.  Unfortunately...after one last look at the list, its all just fact as far as I am concerned.  Could be a long day in Houston next week.

Blogging The Boys Dallas Cornerbacks?

Can anyone help me understand why we continue to give opposing receivers free releases off the line of scrimmage?  Our corners our almost always 7-10 yards off the line of scrimmage at the snap.

The Redskins "west cost" offense is based on timing, so if you are bringing pressure forcing the QB to get rid of the ball quickly, why not also take the receivers off of their routes and confuse the timing for the QB.

Newman and Jones are supposed to be really fast so why are they worried about getting blown by?  As for Henry, he is not so fast but he should be able to do what Springs and Harris did to T.O.. be physical and keep to guy from running by him.

It just looks to me like we are constantly in the prevent defense in the secondary, we play scared, worried about getting beat deep instead of aggressive like Baltimore.

That said, the whole team got pushed around yesterday...we looked soft, the Giants running backs are probably licking their chops.

Blogging The Boys Hope the players read this....

Apparently the so called ESPN experts don't think Dallas is that good.  Apparently you win two games in this league at QB as a Packer and your Farve reincarnated.  Check out the Sunday Countdown online.....everyone (Ditka, Jackson, MeShawn, Carter and Mortenson) all picked GREEN BAY!!!!  What the &%@# is going on here.  I hope the someone puts that on the board in the locker room...I would love to see us play angry!

I know for the most part these guys are idiots...but I would think that at least Mort would have a little sense.

I can't wait for Sunday night.

Blogging The Boys The Flozell watch begins!

Now that the coaching staff worries are rounding themselves out its time to look at the roster worries that will last much longer.  The big question I have is what we do with Flozell Adams.  I for one think he is one of the top 5 left tackles and we should try to resign him, but I would only want a 2 year deal which I know probably will never happen.  Grizz, I'm dying for your evaluation of Flozell vs. Osi and Colombo vs. GapTooth against the run and the pass!

The big questions in my mind:

  1. Can Flozell be a dominant run blocker?  He was pretty good against the pass rush this year...what are the thoughts on his run blocking?
  1. Kosier is the weakest link in the line, if we replace him can we afford to have two newcomers on the left side protecting Tony's blind side?  Tony is small compared to most QB's, he is pretty fragile, if he starts to take big hits he won't stay on the field.
  1. Do we replace Kosier?  I hope so!  With Proctor? or McQ? or a free agent?  Maybe the Viking will cut Hutchinson! Not.
  1. How will Flozell mesh with Hudson Houck?  Can Houck motivate him? (which I think is his biggest problem)

What do you guys think?

Blogging The Boys Upon further review???

I don't have tivo or record the game so I am looking for some clarity on the Fasono endzone drop and the T.O. sideline go route imcompletion.  Did a Giants defender get a hand on either one?

It looked to me (only seeing the in game replay) that the ball to Fasano may have gotten touched by the guy covering him but I am not sure.

On the T.O. ball it looked like aligator arms, please tell me I'm wrong!
