Community Guidelines
i think i broke them. anyway, here it is
For no apparent reason, many threads are turning into flame wars. This is unacceptable. I haven't written this site for nearly two years so a couple of readers could dominate the conversation with constant bickering. When I began, I promised to be very relaxed on the moderation tip, mostly because the biggest Kings community online is led by heavy-handed blowhards who squelch conversation for the hell of it. I don't want to be that. But I also don't want to submit myself and my readers to repeat annoyance in the form on unrelated comments in threads, flamewars, and diaries that have to do with nothing. When I see myself getting discouraged by the level of discourse, I can only imagine how those less associated with the site feel. These transgressions undoubtedly hurt the site, and they must stop.
So with the help of Louismg, I'm instituting community guidelines.
* No personal attacks on other members of the community. One warning, then one ban. Name-calling and direct disrespect will not be tolerated.
* Stop the thread-jacking. I hate to say it, but... When a thread is about a rumor placing Scott Brooks as the next coach of the Kings, it's not a place to dump on Eric Musselman or Rick Adelman. We have plenty of opportunities for that. These topical threads about something else are not the place. It'd be fine if the criticisms came in a way in which furthered the discussion of Brooks. By my count, in the 47 comments on that thread (plus the several Louis deleted due to personal attacks), Brooks was mentioned twice. If you want to talk about Muss or Adelman: open a diary (which we're less likely to mod) or wait for a Muss/Adelman thread. We do not write these threads for you to crap on.
* Make your comments readable. Most of us use punctuation. This isn't an IM conversation or an AOL chatroom. It's a semi-professional blog which earns advertising dollars and gets media attention. It's not hard to hit shift or . every once in a while. I'm not asking for perfect grammar or flawless spelling -- good God, I'd be banned if that was the case. But what good will your points be if no one understands them or feels like deciphering them? Make it legible.
Chad Ford Espn Insider trade idea:
Here are a few trade rumors along with updates from the NBA workout scene:* One possible destination for Ron Artest this summer? Houston, to be reunited with his former coach Rick Adelman.
I'm told the Rockets have been quietly putting out feelers about Artest, and the price might be right. I hear it would cost the Rockets Bob Sura (he has only $1 million in salary protection next year), Kirk Snyder, Vasilis Spanoulis and this year's first-round draft pick.
OT: the bulls make the best contracts
as more and more speculation of player movement is brewing because of the trade deadline, looking a salaries and contracts more in-depth, i think the bulls' contracts are the best in the league.
unlike every other team which 10% backloads contracts, the current contracts of wallace and hinrich are front loaded contracts. it might be due that they are under the cap and can take on this extra salary, but say it's the end of hinrich's contract and hinrich wants out of chicago or the bulls go a different direction, he would be tradable as his salary decreases from 11 mill to 8 mill which will make it easier to acquire younger talent w/out the expiring contract.
i doubt wallace will be traded (mid 30's making 14 mill in the last season) but his lower number allows the team more money to sign free agents.
other aspects are their drafting, but that's a whole other story.
the point is, if petrie blows up this team, i hope he models how the bulls frontload contracts. that will give more flexibility for the future.
man, why is this team sucking so much.
a possible trade
seeing that artest is getting plenty of interest.. (to kill time) i made a trade (that more than likely won't happen) with LAC and the magic which will net us HEDO~! and rid us of kenny thomas

my trade keys are to get us a big that's reasonable (zeljko), trade assets (artest) and give more flexibility to the future. zeljko is a pretty decent backup and he doesn't think he needs the ball and score. he has decent post moves. but i like his contract the most. ross is a good defender but is hit and miss on offense. if he just defends, he's worth it because if bibby gets back in the groove, the offense will be better. the other guy from the clippers is just a throw in from salary reason. lastly hedo will be back.
i think orlando will reject this as kenny thomas will tie up some money that will be set for extensions (nelson, howard, milicic) but it will give them a potent option for scoring with maggette. i don't really know if the magic want offense or defense but their bait is hedo.
for the clippers they get their man artest and back up pg's because it seems like every year that one of the two (livingston and cassell) are injured...
this trade is contingent on alot of if but hey something ain't right about this team. time to fix it before we are out of it.
kings signs salmons
i don't know how to block quote(from realgm) but it said that petrie is no longer pursuing bonzi... so does it mean we still won't try to sign and trade bonzi or we just don't intend to sign him? if so, time to trade KT... KT for malgoire! maybe on mars.
it looks like the youth movement is starting... with martin, garcia, douby and now salmons; we are stocking up on combo guards
oh the death of the point guard or is it the rebirth?

On the block/free agents:
Malgoire
Murphy (i know, he doesn't solve our problems)
Keyon Martin
Wilcox
Songilia (sp?) apparently wants to come back
gooden
Personally, I believe Nene was the best free agent this year given his age and ability (though coming off knee surgery). Not only is he quick, he can run, block, rebound, play D, provide an inside presence etc... Everything we needed in a big is Nene. I don't know what petrie is going to do, but no more slow (lacking quickness) Bigs like Ostertag.
