Rubio checks out NBA Live
He's walking! Probably filmed before his injury.
Simmons' Must-See List
22. Minnesota
A chance to see two of the biggest enigmas in recent league history (Michael Beasley and Darko Milicic) join forces with one of my favorite players (Kevin Love, who needs to find a good team soon or I'm going to start shooting hostages); a sneaky-good role player (Corey Brewer); The Guy Who Isn't Ricky Rubio Or Stephen Curry (Jonny Flynn, the league's worst starting point guard in 2010); Sebastian Telfair and Kosta Koufos (OK, now this is getting weird); Martell Webster and Wes Johnson (two lottery picks who are somehow the same age even though Webster was drafted in 2005 and Johnson was drafted in 2010); a new "up-tempo" offense that was a signed, sealed confession that last year's attempt to play the triangle was disastrously dumb; and, on top of all that, David Kahn sitting in the stands with a "Crap, I just realized that I should have drafted Cousins for Darko's spot and spent Darko's $20 million on a swingman" face? Sure. Twist my arm.
NBA 2K11 Starting Five Ratings
As some of you may know, the annual iterations of basketball games are coming out in about two weeks. 2K has recently shared the starting five for each team and the players' ratings. Keep in mind this is the tentative default starting five. The ratings are purely subjective and should change once the season gets under way (2k constantly updates the ratings all season depending on how the players are playing).
PG Jonny Flynn - 74
SG Corey Brewer - 70
SF Wesley Johnson - 73
PF Kevin Love - 74
C Darko Milicic - 57
Fynn is recovering so obviously he won't be starting yet, but the biggest eye-catcher is Darko at 57. In comparison, the lowest other starting centers are JaVale McGee at 59 and Joel Anthony at 58. Does that seem right? No. Good thing this is just a video game :) Also realize that the ratings are based on their position so having Flynn and Love at 74 does not mean they are the same.
Other Notables
PG Dwyane Wade - 97
SF Lebron James - 97
SG Kobe Bryant - 97
PG Chris Paul - 95
C Dwight Howard - 88
SG Evan Turner - 76
PG John Wall - 81
Wade at PG??
Wall is the highest rated rookie. Favors and Cousins were not listed as starting for their team.
No one get too upset over these. Again, this is just 2K's speculations in a video game. Who knows how these guys will play once the season starts.
NBA Jam Western Conference Rosters
Minnesota Timberwolves
Players: Al Jefferson, Kevin Love, Jonny Flynn and Michael Beasley
Legend: Chuck Person
"Jefferson remains with 'Sota in the Wii version, a la Ariza in Houston, because his trade to Utah happened too late in the summer for that update. And Kevin Garnett is obviously still playing in Boston, no matter how desperately 'Sota needs him as a legends pick. So someone please tell me that there will be a way to unlock Ricky Rubio as a secret Wolf. Please, please, please."
Imo, I would have liked Brewer on the roster. He seems more like a high-flyer than anyone else on the Twolves list. Maybe Gerald Green can be an unlockable player for Minnesota :)
