Many have been critiquing the play calling for the second half so I posted the plays for all to see. Additionally, I have a snippet of a radio interview that shows Fisher's ultra-conservative mindset.

Below is the video from the Carolina Panthers game. I assume that McCourty will be the starter. I think Verner may have lost his momentum in last night's game. Getting beat by Jarrett will not help Verner's case in my opinion (I swear that I thought that was Harper on that play in the video). McCourty made several nice plays but he still appears to have trouble tracking the ball on deep throws. All in all, secondary appears to be better than last year but we shall see with the Saints coming to town.

My observations...
1. McCourty has been in more plays but it's tough because I think it's too early to get a consensus that qb(s) are not throwing to Verner's side.
2. There has been talk that McCourty has more "long" speed than Verner; however, McCourty has been beat deep on two occasions and I didn't necessarily see "closing" speed.
3. Verner didn't look all that great on the goal line plays in the Cardinals game.
4. Both seem to be steady tacklers unlike Rod Hood.
5. Keep in mind that Finnegan gets burned sometimes too. Cornerback is becoming one of the hardest positions to play.

Below states that he's not that physical as a tackler. I'm not sure about that.
Verner is an excellent athlete that possesses the speed, quickness and agility to be an effective perimeter defender. He uses his hands well to re-route his opponent as well as having the burst and body control to maintain leverage in pure man schemes. Verner is an instinctive player that anticipates well to make plays on the ball. He is an effective blitzer off the edge but isn’t always physical as a tackler. He needs to continue to improve his overall technique to maximize his talent at the next level. Verner is a good football player that has the tools, attitude and instincts to be a solid contributor as a rookie both in the secondary as well as on special teams.
