Okay I'm not for trading Grienke at all. However, if no new deal is worked out and doesn't appear that it will I would rather get all we can out of him. The Rangers make no secret of their interest in Zack. My question...what kind of a haul do you guys think we could get?

Off-season Targets

I know there have been lots of posts on this topic, but it is a boring Friday at work so I thought I would throw in my 2 cents. This would be my list of off-season objectives if I were GM.

FA Targets:

-Orlando Hudson

- Starting Pitcher (Perez,Sheets being top choices)

Trade Target:

-Matt Holiday

The question is what will the Rockies want for Holiday? We have the pieces to pull of a blockbuster but what will they want? I would start by offering Banny/Teabag/Lumsden/Pimentel (pitching is the currency of baseball) for Holiday. Would that get it done. I think it's a good offer. And you can replace Banny with a FA SP. The Royals have shown that they can deal with Boras so I think an extension for Holiday could get done.

I like the idea of a Hudson/Aviles MIF. Bring up Kila and split him and Billy at 1B/DH and I think you have a very solid team that can compete next season.

I was talking a lunch with a friend who is a Cardinals fan and I was saying that they need more parts than the Royals do to contend (they are overachieving this year) and these were my thoughts on what should be done.

Wo what does everyone think?

Jeff Francoeur

According to MLBTradeRumors:

The Braves will listen to offers for Jeff Francoeur and Will Ohman, and maybe Mark Teixeira if the Braves struggle in the next week. The Royals are said to be interested in Francoeur.

I think Francoeur would be a good pick up. What do you guys think that the Braves would want in return?

A DDJ, Guillen, Francoeur OF sounds nice so I wouldn't want to give up DDJ.

I would give them either Teahen straight across or maybe a Mahay + a prospect. If they didn't move Teahen what do you think his fate would be? Headed to the bench?

Bill Hall

According to MLBTR (as I am sure some of you have already read) Bill Hall is hoping for a trade. What does everyone think of him playing SS for our boys in blue. He'd be an upgrade at the plate. And he's not the worst on defense (he has to play the position better than German). I would be for it. Still would rather try to land Greene, but Hall would be a nice pick up also.

The question is what would the Brewers want in return. Any ideas?

Milton Bradley

Tim over at MLBTR suggested during the chat today that KC could be a possible destination if the Rangers decide to move him. Any thoughts on the idea of getting the guy we just missed last year? What would we give up? I'm guessing Nunez is no longer going to be the offer.

Bradley's bat would be nice, but I would rather try to figure out our SS solution. Besides that where would Bradley play on the field. A move or two would have to be made to compensate I would think.

Josh Fields and play him at 1st. He's a 30 HR guy plays good defense (could easily move across the diamond) and at this point I would think he wouldn't be too difficult to trade for. Then it becomes a question of who we give up for him. I would say some of the obvious choices would be

German, Gload, Grudz, Teahen, Shealy, possibly some pitching prospects.

Once we came up with a long term solution at SS we'd have our IF set for a few years.

Gordo, Fields and Callaspo, with SS X, sounds nice to me.

This basically just came out of boredom but I was something I'd been thinking about so I thought I would see what others think.
