Burrows: I hope to be back for training camp
"I hope to be back for training camp," said Burrows on Tuesday, more hopeful than realistic. "I have a rehab program and I'll be working really hard at it."
It's more likely that, given no complications in his rehab, Burrows will more likely be back sometime in October at the earliest.
Ehrhoff, best shutdown defenseman?
View From My Seats conducts its year end awards and Ehrhoff earned top five votes for the Norstrom, given to the best shutdown defenseman, and for the Norris, given to the best overall defenseman.
Ehrhoff got two votes as the best stay at home defender in the league, but he didn't get any second, third, fourth, or fifth place votes. Another Canuck, Willie Mitchell, earned a third place vote, along with a couple of fourth and fifth place votes.
Apparently someone also thinks that he's the third best defenseman across the league; Ehrhoff also received a couple of fourth place votes.
Oh, and a surprise was that Michael Del Zotto received a second place vote in the Norris.
Hank, Kes both 9/2 odds for Hart, Selke
Is it possible Henrik Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks is that much of a long shot for the Hart Trophy?
Corbeil: Burrows may not be ready for start of season
Paul Corbeil, Burrows' agent, said Monday that he does not expect Burrows to be ready for training camp and suggested he could also miss the early part of the regular season.
"He may not be ready to play until sometime in October or November," Corbeil said.
[Canucks assistant general manager Laurence] Gilman said it's too early to say how long Burrows will be out, although he acknowledged the recovery period for labrum surgery is "definitely a period of months."
