What will happen in the summer?

Lets discuss the option of a new head coach to planet orange.

As of June 28, 2008, these guys (from InsideHoops.com) are either jobless or an assistant -- Tom Thibodeau, Jeff Van Gundy, Mike Fratello, Dwane Casey, Terry Stotts, Brian Hill, Paul Silas, Eric Musselman, Bob Hill, Lenny Wilkens, Sam Vincent, Avery Johnson, Flip Saunders.

With many more to loose their jobs by the summer it appears that the Suns have a few really good candidates to choose from.

Who would you like to see on the Suns bench calling the shots?

The Matrix - too good for the Suns?!?

I was reading the Jazz blog today and found two nice reads about the suns.

According to http://basketbawful.blogspot.com/2008/01/dear-suns-please-stop-sucking.html we need to stop sucking, and yeah , I kinda agree. In my opinion, with a real coach, we should be 30-5.

Anyway, there is also great read on the whole trade Shawn situation at http://hardwoodparoxysm.blogspot.com/2008/01/why-shawn-marion-is-too-good-for-suns.html

Please don't be mad at the bloggers, as you won't be agreeing with many posts, but some things said on theose two blogs are priceless.

Who else is hot?

With Golden State's overtime win over SA last night (GS 2 -  SA 0 for the season), the Warriors have well overcome the poor start in the season.

The western conference looks as follows:

  1. Phoenix
  2. SA Sterns
  3. Dallas
  4. Portland
  5. NO Hornets
  6. LA Fakers
  7. Denver Nuggets
  8. Golden State
Suns vs Golden State would be a great game to watch. Imagine a 260 points per game awesomeness!

Penny Haradway - a former sun, may be the right fit?

I am starting a rumor right here, right now.

The Orlando Magic were my second favorite team, and I practically grew up wanting to play like Penny.

So when we traded for him it was one of the happiest days of my life. But it wasn't what I thought it will be.

The heat waived him 3 weeks ago. If you were Steve Kerr would you bring him back for the rest of the season?

16 games for Miami this season - 8 starts; Penny averaged 3.8 points and 2.2 assists. Career lows!

Poll
Would you sign Penny
Hell yeah - The vets do well with us, and he can dish out

Probably - Give Steve the 2 minutes of break he needs per quarter

Maybe - Its like buying an old sports car. You never know!

Meh - Our bench doesn't play either way, why bother!

No Way - he ran out of Magic a long time ago, play Al McCoy instead

Need Orlando tix

Hi,
I am looking for some tix (2, 3 or 4) for Nov-30 game versus Orlando. I was hoping we have some season ticket holders amongst us.

No worries, I will be cheering for the Suns. Its my best friends birthday and he is an Orlando fan.

Anyone willing to sell me theirs? I will consider all offers!

I would prefer lower level, but nosebleed word work too!

Thanks!

Suns apply to host 2009 All-Star Game

[Editor's note: Edited to remove the cut/paste of the full article and replace with an excerpt and a link.]

Jerry Brown, East Valley Tribune reports:

"Suns owner Robert Sarver said Monday that the team and the city of Phoenix have applied to host the 2009 NBA All-Star Game."

The full article is here.

I am looking forward to this and hope I will get tickets if this is true!

Preseason Open Thread: Suns vs. Nuggets (on TNT)

[Editor's Note: Since emirem broke the news on the Suns getting the TNT coverage tonight, we'll let this be the official Game Thread. Unfortunately, I won't be able to do commentary again because I had already made plans for tonight before the TNT coverage was announced. However, feel free to discuss the game here.]

NBA preseason coverage on TNT continues on with the Denver Nuggets visiting the Phoenix Suns.  Courtside announcing will be Marv Albert (play-by-play) and Reggie Miller (analyst) with Craig Sager (sideline reporter).  In light of the recent wildfires affecting the Southern California region, TNT modified its preseason telecast schedule, replacing original plans to televise the Utah Jazz vs. the Los Angeles Lakers from the San Diego Sports Arena with the Nugget/Suns contest.

Thursday, October 25, 10:00PM ET
Denver Nuggets @ Phoenix Suns

For all those that couldn't attend the game, but wanted to see it!

Game Recap - Phoenix Suns vs Utah Jazz 124:101

[Editor's Note: Since none of the preseason games other than the first one have been televised, it's great when those who get to attend in person take a few moments to tell us what they saw. Thanks a bunch, emirem!]

Starting line up:
Nash, Hill, Bell, Marion, Diaw
Bench:
Marks, Strawberry, Barbosa, Banks, Tucker, Frahm

Most notable player of the game: Diaw

Boris has lost some weight. He looks really fit. D'Antoni had him playing 40 minutes and he looked like the Boris two years ago getting 11 rebounds and 9 assists. I am really excited to see him play again.

Grant Hill took a lot of open shots, which is exactly what we needed to do. His shot is not there yet, but it will come.

Marion was explosive. He was all over the court.

Boozer and Kirilenko were held to 21 points together (not each) by the two above. Great defensive work. I think D'Antoni has something going on here.

Nash played 24 minutes only and had 12 points and 7 assists, trying really hard to make the new guys look really good.

As usual Raja was the crowd favorite and managed 24 points in 24 minutes with 5/6 from behind the line.

Barbosa, as usual. 20 points in 20 minutes. Took some poor shots, but thats Barbosa for you.

Sean Marks got some playing time. He managed to get up to 11 points, but got himself in foul trouble. A little too aggressive. Occasionally he looked as if this was his first Basketball game :P

Strawberry and Banks were solid. I think we have something going on here. Tucker and Frahm were out there too.

The game started of slow. We scored 7 points in the first 6 minutes, yet finishing with 28 points by the end of first quarter.

Behind the Line we looked really good. At the half time we were 11/12 finishing the game 16/26 versus 2/10 from Utah. Maybe D'Antoni was watching those Warriors games too.

Utah did out-rebound us 44:37 and they had more turnovers. Other than that the Suns were dominating the game in every other category.

Overall Shooting percentage: 52.4 %.

All of this with Amare out injured.

Before the game I wasn't too confident with the new team. However seeing them play last night I believe we will finish in top 3 this season once again.

I hope Mr Stern doesn't destroy our championship run once again!

Go Suns!

Farm salutes Suns' Nash in corn maze

A 10-acre plot of Queen Creek corn has achieved the childhood aspirations of countless basketball-loving boys: It grew up to be Steve Nash.

The Phoenix Suns guard is the latest celebrity to have the surprise honor of being featured in the maze at Schnepf Farms. It is part of the farm's annual Pumpkin & Chili Party, which begins Thursday.
