Salty shut down for a month
This sounds ominous.
Two years ago, who would've thought we were talking about a hole at catcher.

What's your opinion re: Marion/Gortat
I'd like to get people's opinion - perhaps some with a better understanding of the cap...
What would've happened if the Mavs didn't trade for Marion. The sentiment I felt was that Miami was going to be forced to release him. In that case - we'd just sign him to the same contract we did.
Did the financial flexibility that went to Orlando (trade exception) make them any more likely to match Gortat's offer sheet?

Something to hold you over on off-days
The coolest intro song in the history of intro songs. It's my ring tone and anytime anyone recognizes it, I know they are good people.

Criticize Trey Hillman? Not around George Brett.
A friend of mine did this interview for a KC news station and passed on the link. I thought everyone would enjoy it --- for obvious reasons.
George Brett and some colorful language

Personal take on Kins & MY Elvis reaction
I want to get people's take on MY and Kinsler's reaction to Elvis. I heard both on The Ticket over the past couple of days, and it seems like they are holding back.
You hear both say what comes close to the right things, but it was hard for me to walk away from both interviews thinking anything but both of them feel as if Elvis is being rushed.
Maybe I'm being paranoid, but it was definitely not, "This kid is the real deal, it's only a matter of time until he becomes a star, we'll do everything we can to help him out."
Anyone else have the same opinion or is it just me reading too much into a couple of interviews during the first days of workouts?

Pie traded for very little
Despite being rated as the top prospect in the Cubs' farm system in 2006 and 2007, outfielder Felix Pie never made his mark in Chicago. Now he'll get a chance to make a big-league impact in Baltimore, instead.
The Cubs traded Pie to the Orioles on Sunday for left-handed pitcher Garrett Olson and minor league pitcher Henry Williamson.
Pie, 23, played in 130 major league games for the Cubs the past two seasons. In 2008 he hit .241 with one home run and 10 RBIs in 43 games. Baseball America rated Pie as the Cubs' No. 1 prospect in both 2006 and 2007.
Olson, 25, was 9-10 with a 6.65 ERA in 26 starts for Baltimore last season. In 33 career starts for the Orioles, Olson was 10-13 with a 6.87 ERA.
Talk about waiting a little too long to trade a guy.
