Carlos Santana's Injury... Geez
I put it as a link because its not for the light-hearted. Looks like he may not catch again.
Steve Phillips knows a good deal when he sees one.
Thats just terrible
Good video of many of our top prospects.
What's a five-tool player?
Most already know this, but in case anyone is a little confused, DOB explains the term "five-tool player" used by scouts and others.
Ross Gload will sign with an NL East team
"Ross Gload should soon sign a two-year deal with an NL East team, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The only question is: which team will he choose? The Phillies, Braves and Marlins are all interested in the 33-year-old utilityman. The Marlins turned down a $2.6MM option for Gload's 2010 services earlier in the offseason."
I've always appreciated Ross Gload, and so long as he comes cheap, I wouldn't mind this. But I'm still a bit bitter after that walk-off homer off of Soriano at Landshark Stadium...
Rudy Jaramillo parts ways with the Rangers
This is exactly what we need.
"During his tenure, Jaramillo has produced four MVPs (Juan Gonzalez twice, Ivan Rodriguez and Alex Rodriguez), a batting champ (Michael Young) and three home run champions (Alex Rodriguez 2001-03)."
Braves prospect Jason Heyward promoted to AAA Gwinnett
While not as flashy as a call-up to the majors, Jason Heyward has finally been rewarded for his tremendous play at AA Mississippi. He will be helping Gwinnett in the International League playoffs.
Top prospect Jason Heyward promoted to AAA Gwinnett
While not as flashy as a call-up to the majors, Jason Heyward has finally been rewarded for his tremendous play at AA Mississippi. He will be helping Gwinnett in the International League playoffs.
"He's such a good hitter and he's still developing. I think he'll easily hit 30-plus homers in the majors."
I found this interesting. Its from 2005. If only it had turned out that way, but it seems unlikely to ever happen.
Heyward will blow out the candles on his 20th birthday cake in a week and a half, but he probably won't have to wait until his 21st birthday to reach the major leagues given his current pace. Heyward, the No. 1 prospect in baseball, is hitting .416/.495/.714 with 13 walks and nine strikeouts in 22 games with Mississippi. Heyward's offensive tools and feel for the strike zone are already outstanding, but the scary thing is that he's still a little less than a decade away from his peak years.
The Non-Waiver Trade Deadline: Discussion
So here we are, finally. July 31, the last day that teams can make trades without having players pass through waivers, and hopefully, the end of all the rosterbation threads (and random posts) we're all tired of. Don't hold your breath on that second part, though. This is always one of the most exciting days of the year for baseball fans, even when our team is not expected to make any significant moves. This thread is to discuss today's possible trades, all throughout baseball. I will post rumors and official trades, and hopefully some of you guys can help as well. Of course, should the Braves make any moves, it will be posted on the front page by gondeee, or in the fanshots by a helpful user. Please, do not rosterbate, there is another thread for that. Well, let's start off with some current rumors:

Phillies acquire Cliff Lee and Ben Francisco
Well, not only do the Phils strengthen their already improving rotation, but they get the right-handed bat that they have coveted since the offseason.
Prospect Smackdown: Jason Heyward vs. Mike Stanton
John Sickels compares two of the top prospects in baseball, one being our own Jason Heyward.
According to the Associated Press, via ESPN.com, the Braves are interested in adding Greg Maddux as a spring training pitching instructor.
Maybe this is the first step to to making him our full time coach. He's certainly the man for the job.
Get your rosterbation here, free rosterbation!
You know the drill, people. The other one is off the front page, so here's another.
You know, why hasn't there been more consideration of Adam Laroche? He's a great 2nd half guy, we could definitely upgrade at first, and he'll be a type A, and we could offer Arb. Would Casey Kotchman get him straight up? Then Laroche or Freeman in 2010? IMO, we could just stick with what have and hope it can compete (which I think it can), and if it doesn't, then prepare for next year. * Fixed the poll*

DOB on the Braves
They're taking calls from teams interested in Yunel Escobar.
There's nothing to the suggestion that the Braves could send Escobar and prospects to Oakland for Matt Holliday and Orlando Cabrera, especially since Escobar's much cheaper than Holliday and hitting about as well.
The Cardinals are interested in Escobar, but they wouldn't trade Ryan Ludwick.
O'Brien hears that the Braves offered Rafael Soriano to the Cards for Joe Mather last winter but the Cards wouldn't make the move.
Braves GM Frank Wren repeated that he doesn't want to move prospects and can't afford to add much payroll.
Braves have three Type-A free agents-to-be.
Of course, Rafael Soriano and Mike Gonzalez. But Fuga? Really?
Jair Jurrjens or Javier Vazquez may still make the All-Star game
Word is that Matt Cain's injury will keep him out of St. Louis this year. I know everyone here wants one of our pitchers in the game, now one of them may very well be.
Braves trade Jeff Francoeur for Ryan Church
Well, its finally happened, what we've all been waiting for. He's gone. Ryan Church is a lefty OF, who was starting in center in place of Carlos Beltran. I wonder what Minaya was thinking..
Minor league moves.
Highlights:
Isaiah Ka'aihue released.
Kevin Gunderson to AAA Gwinnett
Rudy Darrow activated, replaces Gunderson at AA Mississippi.
Deunte Heath Demoted to AA Mississippi.
Afterward, Braves manager Bobby Cox said Prado would be the starting second baseman over slumping Kelly Johnson

Ok, you little girls got what you wanted. Stop complaining.
Rumored 2003 Steroid list leaks out?
Probably just BS, but interesting still. Derek Lowe is on the list.
Zeke Spruill placed on DL
Eligible to return on June 17th I think.
Red Sox scouting "mystery Braves shortstop".

Thats the original link. More Red Sox bullshit.
