Good feeling gone?
So I'm still fuzzy on all these legal proceedings and stuff, mainly because I'm well, not a lawyer. But I saw something today when I opened Firefox today(With my Phoenix Coyotes skin and ticker!) that stopped my heart.
"Auction Open to all Bidders"
I read the article, and well, it didn't make a ton of sense, it was terrifying, because I wasn't sure of one thing
It says that "all qualified bidders" will be able to put in a bid in the September 10th auction. Does Ballsillie count as qualified? I thought that he was declined in his ownership bid by the NHL? What if he wins? Can the NHL then over-rule that?
And what of Moyes' contempt of court case? Will that affect Ballsillie's chances at all since they were in cahoots?
This might all seem like wishful thinking, but it's the only thing I can do to keep hope that the Desert Dogs can stay that.
Does Odin or anyone who went to the hearings have any details to try and sort this out?
Adios, Panger
Darren Pang posted a message to the fans today announcing he's leaving to join St. Louis in the upcoming season. It's sad due to how great him and Strades' chemistry was, but hey, a man's got to get paid. Best of luck to one of my favorite personalities in the sport.
Lots of thoughts and... well... stuff.
First off, hey guys. I know none of this that we're going through is good, but hey, it's trying times that bring us together. And not just the great people at this board, with Odie, Z4Def, C13, Mordi, and everyone else I may have forgotten. It's this great community that makes FFH the first site I check when I hop online, even if I have a tendency of lurking without saying a whole lot.
And also, the swarm of support from the other team blogs is just outstanding. All you guys are class acts, and as a fan of a ailing team in a fringe sport, it warms my heart to see support from rivals, or even complete strangers.
With all the warm sappy stuff out of the way, I have some things Ive been running through my brain.
I'm still stunned at how this is all unfolding. I mean I know that loyalty is a myth when the almighty dollar is involved, but I could never have imagined that Moyes would weasel his way out of the situation like this. I was raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and while I was born after the Colts had been stolen from our town, I was raised on the central belief that Bob Irsay was the devil. Not sure of the story? Watch this. ESPN did a great piece a few years back on how after months of saying he had no interest in moving the team, and then ran out of town in the middle of the night under the shroud of a blizzard. They say lightning doesn't strike twice. I never thought I'd have to live through what my dad did, that I would have to actually experience what I had been warned of my entire upbringing. But now, thanks to Moyes and Balsillie's back-handed rat bastard tactics, it appears to be the case. And to be honest, it sickens me.
Yes, I can comprehend the money that's being involved in this, and how our Yotes have a tendency of bleeding the green stuff every year. But come on now. There're fans here! Yes, attendence isn't up to the same standard as it is in other towns, but it's not empty! They're not playing to 100 people in a high school gym! We have fans here, we are fans here. And hey guess what people, we're human!
Humanity, it's really kind of interesting. You think people have respect for each other, and then something like this happens. To all you people that come here and are rubbing it in and saying that we don't deserve this team, that they're better suited up in Canada, the "great" white north? Way to have some compassion, you heartless bastards. You realize that the people that take the time out of their day to come on this board, and talk about this team actually CARE ABOUT THE PHOENIX COYOTES. We're all devastated at the current situation that we're all trying to deal with, and you decide that you're so much better and can come here, where we're trying to figure out what's going on, and disrespect us, as fans? As people? We're exactly the same as you. We breathe air, we drink water, we eat food, and WE LOVE HOCKEY. I know this may come off as foreign to you, that you might think that only people in Canada can know, love, and respect the tradition and prestige that hockey has. It ain't true people. We've clearly come to accept and embrace the sport, seeing as the Stanley Cup champion has been an American team since... 92/93? Yeah.
Imagine if you guys were in this situation. Let's say the Senators have been tanking, and couldn't keep going. Then, a white knight comes out of nowhere to save them. That man? Rogue financial mogul Mark Cuban, who thinks that the Senators would be an absolutely perfect fit in San Antonio. While the Canadian fans are mourning and are in absolute shambles, all the Texans come to a Sens message board posting things like "CANADA IS STUPID! YOU DON'T DESERVE A TEAM!" Despite the fact that they're just as entitled to have a team, and be fans as the people in Texas.
And for people who think they're entitled to say these kinds of things as long as they say "I'm just stating facts" or "This is the brutal truth"? Well that's the same as going to someone who's mourning the loss of a loved one to lung cancer and you going up to them and saying "Well it's their fault they smoked" Clearly that's the case. But you should have the compassion and the humanity to let them mourn, and to learn to accept what's going on.
If you're from Canada then you understand how much people love hockey, it's as strong as a passion as anything. It is as strong, if not stronger, as a love for a family member, or spouse, or best friend. Which is why I can't comprehend how there are so many people being so foul towards the Phoenix fanbase.

Another thought I had recently was about the trade deadline, more specifically Derek Morris. There were multiple reports that management told Morris to not move his family when he was traded to the Rangers. This might seem like a crazy theory, but what if the D Mo trade was made by the league, as they had control at the time, to dump some salary cap off and make the books a little better for any potential suitors? Then they could make a deal to re-sign him once they got their owner situation cleared up. I mean it's not unheard of for a league to make moves for a team in this situation. Just ask the Expos.
I will say though, with getting Lombardi, Upshall, and Prucha, if they NHL was really in charge of the trades, maybe they should take over for GMDM, given how the team was completely reborn following the deals XD
But yeah, this was just stuff I wanted to get off my chest. If you read it thanks, and GO YOTES!
