LL Watchman outing: ROLL CALL!

I'm in, who else should I be looking for? Cinerama in Seattle. Are we planning on meeting anywhere before the outing? How many words must I type before I reach the 75 word minimum. Seriously, roll call threads are a good thing. I haven't read the comics for this but Sin City and 300 were amazing movies and I have decided to place all my faith for this movie in Zack Snyder. 75.

The long road back to the playoffs

The Mariners go into tonights game 8 back of both Oakland and Anaheim, but the Mariners have 9 other teams to pass if they are going to make the playoffs this year (heh).

So for that fan in all of us that thinks we are in it until we are mathematically eliminated, we can start scoreboard watching tonight.

The Mariners are 2 games back of the KC Royals and the Detriot Tigers. The Tigers play the Yankees and the Royals face off against the hated Orioles.

A win tonight by the Mariners combined with a loss by either the Tigers or the Royals would put the Mariners one game back from not being the worst team in the American League!

Played on a summer baseball team with a bunch of "at risk" types and tonight I was reminded by Big Richie of one of my favorite baseball quotes: "It's not who wins the game, it's who wins the fight in the parking lot after the game." Richie got the teams hardest hit in weeks.

Look the Mariners might not be kicking ass but the are taking names. The season is over barring an improbable miracle but at least the Mariners will be able to audition a new first baseman while Richie serves a (minimum) 10 game suspension.

Graham wrote an interesting article about the biomechanics of pitching as it relates to injuries.

http://hardballreview.wordpress.com/2007/12/13/pitchers-and-injuries-the-biomechanics-of-baseball/#r espond

3003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003003 00300300300300300300300300300300300300300300300300

My brother in Law found this study on the Pythag. and posted an overview of his thoughts over at Hardball Review.

I think the first question Mariner fans will be asking themselves when making projections about next season will be the pythag issue: Can the Mariners defy the pythag?

http://hardballreview.wordpress.com/2007/10/22/new-study-on-pythagorean-baseball/#comments

The link to the actual study is found in the comments section.

Tonight is trading card night and I want to collect all the cards in the set. I figure that those of us who read this fine site and are going to the game anyway should meet up and trade cards so we can all have complete sets.

I'm getting a CF bleacher seat and am at the very least hoping to run into Red, Bretticus and Deanna at the game.

No word yet on what the M's gave up to get him.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/d/davisja02.shtml

I know Davis throws really hard and based on his 9BB in 11.3 IP it would seem that he has little to no control. I would also guess that this is the end of our wife beating, human concession speech.

Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!Bye Bye Mateo!
