Rockett Man
So, appropriately OF Michael Rockett playing for Erie had 2 hits one a triple. He was the 13th round pick in 2009. Perhaps not a prospect a funny thing.
Adam Wilk went 5 for Toledo with 6 K's as they won 5-1. Erie lost 4-2 despite Rockett man's triple. Lakeland won 4-2as both Tyler Collins and Nick Castellanos had two hits. West Michigan lost 3-2 as Kevin Collier struck out 6 in 4 innings and # 11 prospect Danny Vasquez had 3 hits.
Tigers History: Last 5 & 5 Game
In light of 'bb's' 5 hit and 5 rbi game let's travel back to 04/05/06 when Ivan Rodriguez posted the same figures.
His feat came @ Kansas City in that winning seasons second game. He knocked a pair of doubles and a Homer in a 14-3 win. Granderson, polanco and Shelton had 3 hits each as Royals manager buddy bell used 6 pitchers.
G
ood omen that teams last 5 and 5 game came in the last world series year!
Tigers History 06/06/06
Detroit beats Washington 2-1. The tigers are in the midst of a 6 game winning run.
Ed siever was the starting pitcher. He completed 20 of his 25 starts.
Unlikely a home run figured in the game as the team hit 10 for the season.
Tigers ultimately finished 16 games ahead of Washington in the standings. They did not get close to the World Series as the White Sox and Cubs matched up with the White Sox winning.
Tigers History 6/5/40
There is a new biography of Tiger hall of famer Hank greenberg, 'the hero who didn't want to be one'.
Greenberg was on the 1940 which won the al pennant by a game. This day they beat Philadelphia on the road 9-1. Greenberg was 1-4 with a hit, and a walk.
He led the league in homers with 41. He hit one in game 5 of the world series which Cincinnati won in 7 games.
Inge on tiger leaders boards
- 2nd in defensive war
- 16th in games
- 22nd home runs
- 23rd doubles
- 27th hits
Leyland was right
Per this chap Valverde for Porcello after 8 IP and 1 H was correct.

My Weekend in Pittsburgh
I'm back to watching the tigers from my normal seat-the living room. Extra innings is beaming things back to me from. Detroit.
This past weekend I traveled to Pittsburgh and watched the pirates best the tigers. No question PNC park is a better location for watching baseball than my recliner!
It's downtown, on the river, the right size just a well done space for the pastime. Due to a self induced reservation snafu I stayed at two hotels. Both were within sight of the park.
From the second I could see right into the park. One light bank was visible, the blue seats and the auxiliary scoreboard on. Surrounded by hills. You cross the river via the Clemente bridge a yellow steel affair one of a trio of spans from the 1920's.
I know in this day and age going to the park is not necessary. I have at bat on my android. I am conversant with MLB.tv and have extra innings. Box scores need not wait for the morning paper.

Team state
- The offense often squanders scoring chances
- The defense is often slow
- The bullpen is in flux
- The starting pitching is high quality
- The manger is panicky
Visiting Pittsburgh this weekend to see Tigers
- What are things I should do?
- Where should I eat?
- Any historic sites/museums?
- Good things to do at park?
Pittsburgh this weekend
All I will be heading to Pittsburgh for the three game weekend series. Going to be staying at Spring Hill Suites by the ballpark. Even plan to go kayaking on Saturday..Never been to PNC have different tickets for each day. The Pirates have been better than expected and the Tigers are rounding into form so expect a good series of contests
If anybody wants to meet up at the park or else where let me know.
AL Only
Looking to pick up a team in an AL only fantasy league. Scoring doesn't really matter as long as AL only is met.
Schlereth is my Mud Hen hope to see him pitch Wednesday
Motoring up to Durham on the 12th to see the Mud Hens Play. Anyone else from BYB going to be there?
Jack Cust?
Slugger Jack Cust is being done away with by the A's. Would the Tigers want him? I don't like the decline in his numbers, but offense is a perceived weakness
Rotation to Open Season?
What I have is Verlander on the 5th, then Scherzer on the 7th with Willis taking the final Kansas City game on the 8th.
I have it down that Porcello will start home opener on 9th. Will we then see Verlander back on the 10th and then Bonderman or vice versa? Or will Bonderman get skipped? Supposedly Wilis is # 5 with Bondo # 4 so it makes some sense that Bondo doesn't get skipped. Also makes sense to get that 2nd JV outing in there.
Brad Thomas @ Baseball Reference
I am sponsoring Brad Thomas' baseball reference page. I'm hoping for Tiger not Mud Hen status!
Opening Day Pitchers
Who has more opening day starts Verlander or Greincke?
April 5 Opening Day
I will be travelling to Kansas City (reside in North Carolina) to see the Tigers open the 2010 campaign against the Royals. Pitching match up should be Verlander V. Greinke. We shall see if the 2010 Tigers can hit Greinke. Will anyone else from the BYB community be there? If so lets plan some type of meet up! After the game would be best for me due to flight plans etc. Tigers vs Royals coverage
