Scape goat: Ben Gordon for staff lacking of teaching/coaching defense!

All of the responsibility will be on the players to enact great team defense in 2009? But those great defensive teams T.O.T speaks of in fanpost:

http://www.blogabull.com/2009/7/4/938074/forget-who-left-for-the-d-just

and the others outside of Chicago had a great defensive architect who wasn’t on the court.

Phil Jackson didn’t design the triangle offense, but his speciality is defense and he taught/teaches it passionately.
Skiles recent history coaching with the Bulls speaks for it self, even with Ben Gordon playing a key role for the team. (This argument alone questions much of the criticism towards BG defense. Bulls org is nothing but smoke and mirrors for distractions)

Now, answer this question… who on the coaching staff has experience to teach and enforce team defense to get back too: (ranking 6th in the NBA and 3rd in the East during ’06-’07 averaging only 93.8 points against per game) … Again BG was on this team and lead the Bulls in scoring?

Something to think about
The main components to ranking higher in defense and allowing less points allowed is slowing one’s offensive down playing in a half court style game, likewise enforcing the same upon the other team.

This becomes effective if a team has a better half court game together with a inside-outside(low post scorer plus 3pt) threat, again together with great half court offensive sets (scott skiles specialty, vdn has no clue in this). Three components!

Now some here and the Bulls will now decide to preach to play better defense when they now have none of the three components to pull it off?

Another John Paxson whim without any clue or strategy to his thought process! Think just a year ago the organization was preaching we have to speed up the offense because we are young, yet now saying defense (but, really this means slow the offense down) Confusion. But next summer stupid Paxson will say we need offense. So predictable!

Smoke and mirrors of distractions to justify a policy of cheapness!

There’s is nothing wrong with wanting to be better defensively, but this Paxson organization has only a strategy to vacillate back and forth without real commitment to any real strategy

Many posts note that certain players might lack basketball IQ, or good basketball IQ. I believe this skill is developed over time, and requires awareness and quick reaction. Repetition comes to mind. If the Bulls, a young team, team practices center around just exercise drills, a few motivational speeches and the a-Team competeing against the b-Team running prescribed plays? Might basketball IQ enhancement drills and teaching benefit the players? How do you teach it or can it be taught? Who on staff is able to? Bobby Knight was big on this concept!

Please review the link diagram and discuss your thoughts on this subject as it relates to particular players and the coaching staff if you have any?

Who are the Sleepers in the Draft or Elsewhere?

The Chicago Bulls had a good season. Still, I can't recall notable late 1st round or 2nd round draft picks selected by the Bulls which had good success in the NBA? I know there are some. What picks can you name which fit this category? It seems that the Chicago Bears scouts always find late round talent. What about Bulls talent scouting team?

It's about time the Bulls land a poor man's Tim Duncan or find another Carlos Boozer or Paul Millsap, or Manu Ginobili, etc...

Bulls need some cheap affordable hungry talent, but, theses player will need some playing time.
Thabo taken in top 20, yet didn't get the minutes a Paul Millsap received. Was Duhon so much better than Thabo this year or is Skiles so resistant to change?

Does Skiles need to expand his coaching style similiar to Don Nelson? Nelson truly benched starters that were not performing and kept them on the bench. Will Skiles ever do that? Do the Bulls need some internal competition to light some fire? I say "Yes" Who is this GS Matt Barnes? or Andris Biedrins who kept Al Harrington benched?

Here are some ideas:

developmental league player, Elton Brown (6'9 250 lbs), age 23, (ppg 18.4/playoff 25) (rpg 9.6/playoff 11.7)

or Derrick Byars, Senior, from Vanderbilt (6'7 220 lbs) (ppg 17 - apg 3.4 - rpg 4.9 - )

or troubled Sean Williams (Boston College), (6'10" - averaged 12.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5 blocked )?

Who are some of the sleepers you know about?

Should Tyrus Thomas be sent to D-League

Read

http://www.nba.com/features/wurst.html

Will it expose his under-developed game and reduce his trade value or allow him to develop an offensive NBA game?

Do you think he would dominate the D-League? After considering the possibility that he might not have been the best player on the LSU team when he was drafted? Nor is he ranked in the top 10 rookies this year? Playing time and Skiles coaching, aside...

Is Tyrus really similiar to either E-Rod or JYD, both former Bulls, with outstanding leaping ability and great hustle work ethic, respectively? But limited offensively?

March Madness approaches! Time for E-Rod types to shine for that NBA contract! Did E-Rod dupe Krause into a nice contract (5 years 32 million for a reserve who average 7 ppg) during his playoff run with the Hornets?

Should Paxson allow Tyrus to wear a head ban, similiar to the one he worn in the NBA Dunk contest and also similiar to the one E-Rod wore?

March Madness approaches! Last year if LSU didn't have the great run during tournament, and Tyrus still entered the draft do you think he would have been taken in 1st round, 2nd round or undrafted?

Did "unknown" Tyrus dupe Paxson? or was this a wise pick?

Did it, Tyrus leaping ability, dupe you or do you still have faith the he will be a NBA star?

Ty2 Potential?

Potential

Unrealized expectations seems to have led to some kind of community wide
delusions by many. Even Ty2 doesn't like to use the dreaded word

http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/thomas_feature_060907.html

But is that enough to eclipse him from this NBA labeling
....

To quote Da Coach, as California Al mentioned in another post..

"One word you never hear used about the great ones is potential".

Now a quote from "In Paxs you trust"

"A lot of chatter out there was about picking an `NBA-ready' guy,
Bulls GM John Paxson says. At another time, in another place,
maybe that's a consideration. But when you are drafting No. 2,
with a clear shot at far and away the best talent in the Draft,
you don't pass on him. Not now and not ever.

Is Pax's speaking on Potential?

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4155/is_20060629/ai_n16519820

Stop the excuses about Ty2, don't say the "p" word again.

Play with a broken nose, stop blaming posey, Skiles cut some air
holes in the mask?

anyone remember pistons & rodman beating up on jordon and pippen before
the two got tougher...

Will this pick be on equal to a another horace grant?

Bulls, Who, except Kirk with Killer CrossOver Move

Who else on the Bulls current roster can execute a killer cross-over move (freeze and/or break defender's ankles (figure-of-speech)) slash, drive, score to the basket (and/or get a call) move besides Kirk Hinrich??

I believe it would be nice to have another player with this type of skill in critical situations? Thabo?, I haven't seem him play!
Oh yeah! Gordon has the cross-over, needs a bit improvement on finishing when help defense comes, yet his floater scores consistently, but does usually draw a call.
