I have been a fan since the '69 NFL Championship game. The first time I ever remember watching a football game on TV. We beat Cleveland 27-10. I was seven years old. I just remember liking the "blue" team...lol. Color TV was not quite the same back then. The first time I saw the Vikes, in person, was with a die-hard Bears' fan at Soldier Field in '88. We won again, 31-7. The first time I took my oldest son to see the Vikes was in '98 at St. Louis and, you guessed it, we won 38-31. The first time I was able to take both of my sons to see the Vikes play was last year (2009), again in St. Louis. And, sure enough, we won 38-10. You may have figured it out by now, we live in St. Louis. Since the Rams have been perennial losers for most of their time in St. Louis, the Vikes have not played them that much. They have only played three regular season games in St. Louis since '95. There will be another "first time" this fall (2010) when my two boys and I go to Minnesota and see them (with homefield advantage, for a change) against Dallas. Hope the streak continues. Skol Vikings!
P.S. It is post Vikings/Cowboys game now, and you guessed it! We won 24-21. Had a great time. Hearing the Vikings' gjallarhorn in the dome and singing the fight song was so surreal. Skol Vikings! !
