Chipper is to make rehab starts at 3B for R-Braves tonight & tomorrow, and may come off DL Monday.

Additional DOB tweet is here. Also, MiLB article here. Game time tonight at State Mutual Stadium, 755 Braves Blvd., Rome, GA 30161, is 7:00 PM; and tomorrow, 2:00 PM. Edits: It was I guess Carroll Rogers of the AJC, not DOB; and an article is now posted saying, "...plan is for him to DH tonight and then either DH or play third base on Sunday."

DOB Tweet 7/2/11 4:28 PM

Mike Minor had a dominating start for G-Braves this afternoon.

Line: 8.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K. Got the win despite 9th inning bullpen fail, improved his AAA record to 3-2, and lowered his ERA to 2.23. I think there is no way FW trades this kid.

Wherein Baseball Jinxes and Streaks are gingerly addressed; with Poll.

I started thinking about baseball jinxes earlier tonight when I received an "\antijinx" reply to a random trivia-type comment on our losing Open Thread. Now, personally, I want to go on record as...

Braves' MiL teams announce opening day rosters

The big news already posted on the TC front page is, of course, that elite prospect Julio Teheran will be in the AAA Gwinnett Braves' starting rotation.  The Press Release announcing the full...

Proctor re-signed to MiL deal, has reported to G-Braves

Veteran depth I guess, but still surprising to me.

McLouth’s simple key to rebound

Interesting article on Nate hitting the reset button on his approach to the game. Also, it includes that the Braves at some point hired a sports psychologist named Geoff Miller to develop a mental-training regimen for the entire organization, which was news to me.

Francoeur: "I was just hardheaded ..."

I fully well know that many here have written off Frenchy, but this AP article suggests that he is finally attempting to make big changes to get his career back on track. The full money quote: "For me, I'll never say I got too much too fast," he said. "It's my career. I'm the one holding it back. I'm responsible for it. I did try to do too much, there's no doubt about it. Though I had a lot of success early, but I was just hardheaded with not needing to change much."

What is that loud Schafer buzz I'm hearing?

I guess after only a couple of days of ST full-squad workouts, its more than a little early to get too excited, but it appears our once and future CFer, 24 year young Jordan Schafer is once again...

The Donald & the Mets?! Oh, my.

I hope to Pujols this is just more empty publicity-mongering.

Prospect Smackdown: Craig Kimbrel vs. Jeremy Jeffress

John Sickels goes all head-to-head comparative analysis.

Conrad: "I’ve got to move on and do my job."

DOB Carroll Rogers delivers a solid piece on Dirt Dog dealing with his defensive fail. Edit: sportswriter properly id'ed.

Chipper Rehab Update: "Reinvigorated" & "Excited"

Either grasping at straws based on inconsequencial indoor batting cage sessions or cause for legitimate optimism, Chipper is at least talking the talk.

Chipper's .415 OBP for '08-'10 was 2d in NL, 4th in majors

At least to me, even taking into account that the '08 batting title season was extraordinary, this seems like a pretty remarkable statistical tidbit. Ya'll disagree?

LHP Matt Fouch ('10 34th round pick): "... there's more to life than baseball."

A young man answers the call of duty. Edit: Fixed link - now @ page 1 of article. Sorry 'bout dat.

Greinke traded to Brewers

Sources of ESPN's Buster Olney and Jerry Crasnick say Royals are receiving outfielder Lorenzo Cain, shortstop Alcides Escobar and pitching prospects Jake Odorizzi and Jeremy Jeffres, and shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt may be going with Grienke to Brewville.

Post-Uggla Rosterbation Thread

Well, Well, Well. What does Wren have in mind next? What do you rosterbation-crazy Choppers think FW should have in mind next? Jumping right back into the frothy what's next pool, I would say a...

Local (Kokomo) article re Beachy's thoughts on call-up and future

Best quote: "I'm going to be hopefully competing for a spot in the rotation ... I'm going in with the mindset that I'll be in as good a shape as I can ... be ready to take care of business on the field and the rest will work itself out."

FO beating the indy bushes for big bats.

In the grand scheme of  things, the Braves' absolutely under the radar signing of Christopher Garcia two weeks ago, likely doesn't amount to much at all.  For although it has to be at least...

Final Weekend: Braves' Stats Watch

Although there are certainly more important things to focus on this weekend, namely, clinching our playoff berth and honoring Bobby, we do have at least three players with statistical issues...

John Sickels' Crystal Ball re JHey's Career

Stumbled across this over at SB Nation's Minor League Ball and thought it was interesting enough to pass along FWIW.

Van Wieren Tribute to Cox: "... his whole life is this team"

really cool reminiscences and vintage photo too.

Julio Teheran: all-minor league SP

The Braves' Columbian phenom was one of thirteen players recognized in Sporting News annual minor-league awards, as follows: "SP Julio Teheran, Braves. He dominated at three levels this season (A, high-A and AA) at age 19, averaging more than 10 strikeouts and fewer than seven hits per nine innings. ETA: 2012" This was almost 2 weeks ago, but I don't believe it was noted here at TC.
