Before you buy another flea collar...
...Please note that Jim Sowell owns Sergeant's pet products, according to www.sowellco.com
Now that I think about it, hasn't that company sponsored coaches shows in the past? Bob Knight show comes to mind... Usually that would be reason to support a company but given recent emails by Mr. Sowell that have become public, you might consider passing up on certain pet products for your pet friends.
If you must boycott something, at least boycott Sergeant pet products, that's a principled decision you can safely make without hurting the university.
And if you send an email or letter, post a copy here or CC: Seth.
Mike Leach Article - Texas Monthly
I saw this on the magazine rack but was in a hurry so didn't pick it up - the first few paragraphs are available online...
Sonny Cumbie leads the San Angelo Stampede Express to a victory over the Abilene Ruff Riders, knocking the Ruff Riders out of the playoffs in the first round.
A&M Vote No Confidence in Binoc Wielding McKinney
REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!!!!!!
Who knew that 8 years after his moment of glory, he would become the A&M Chancellor?
In case you haven't heard, our beloved brothers in College Station are at it again. Just last week, the Texas A&M Faculty Senate gave a 55-9 no confidence vote to Chancellor Mike McKinney, just two weeks after university President Elsa Murano resigned...
<snip>
...Yet the vote against McKinney is the latest drama out of the university that seems to be struggling to find leadership.
But Texas Tech fans should be no strangers to McKinney. It was just eight years ago that Tech beat A&M in football and Tech fans casually threw a torn down goalpost into the stands. Rick Perry's then-chief of staff, McKinney, whose son Seth McKinney was an Aggie center, stormed into the A&M locker room with a bloody face yelling "Welcome to Tech," apparently hit during a post-game melee between students.
However, an investigation into the incident revealed McKinney was actually pushing an A&M student into the metal guardrails surrounding the field when the student hit him in an attempt to escape McKinney's swinging binoculars. Despite the investigation, McKinney called out the Tech administration, claiming the report was a "cover up" and that "the administration had failed."
Texas Tech Hockey
Does anyone know the latest in the Texas Tech Hockey Club's ongoing saga with the arena rental fees and the City Council's recent decision to lock out the club?
I have been checking the club's website and they are showing some upcoming games against a TBA opponent, which is a recent (last week or so) update to their website.

Loudmouth Longhorn Sweatshirt Hangers
I just got back from watching my first Tech home game in 5 years. Drove in just for the game and drove straight home. It was great to be back in Lubbock and cheer on the team that's given me so much enjoyment this season and in the years past.
A few plays into the game, I turned to return some lighthearted banter to the spirited Baylor fans directly behind me who were enthusiastic about the game. I wanted to make these travelling Baylor fans feel like no matter what happened, they should feel welcome and unthreatened here among a sea of Red Raiders. I was compelled to do this because I travelled to the A&M game this year at Kyle Field, and the fans around me were spirited, but friendly and courteous.
When I turned, I saw that they were actually drunken UT-walmart-sweatshirt-wearing idiots, cheering every play not for Baylor, but against Tech. For three quarters I suffered through the sort of uncreative, obnoxious comments normally spewed forth from anonymous internet pea-brains hiding behind their keyboards.
I tried to tune them out, but it was tough. I was pretty high up in section 119, and the crowd up there was pretty reserved, and honestly the scoreboard had taken most of the fight out of me. I just tried my hardest not to stoop to their level. Mercifully, they left at the beginning of the fourth quarter, and I actually enjoyed watching the game from that point on.
- Gamday ticket $36.00
- Gasoline at the T+C in Post $1.55/gallon
- 3 margaritas + tip at Chimys, $20.00
- Their stammers and stutters and looks on their faces when I asked those two sweatshirt hangers what years they attended the University of Texas. - priceless

Myers/Leach Backstory mentioned by Coach Knight?
Did anyone else pick up on Coach Knight's comment on College Game Day about how instrumental Gerald Meyers was in getting Mike Leach to Lubbock originally?
Does anyone have more details or insights into what he meant? What was the lay of the land as far as Leach's prospects at that time, and what challenges did Meyers have to overcome? Internal to the University or External?
Thanks for helping me understand what Coach Knight was driving at.
