We need to stop waiting and re-sign Ronnie. I think he is one of the top runners in the league out of a base formation, but I’m positive there is no single running back in the league that can run the Wildcat as effective as him. If we are going to continue making this a permanent formation in our system, Ronnie Brown is necessary. It looking like next year will be uncapped; witch will come into play and if I’m not mistaken gets rid of the ability to franchise a player, so that option is out. I personally think he is worth top tier running back money and can’t think of a reason not to pay this man.

On a side note if we could find a way to get Ricky to stick around more then next seasons, I’d have no beef with that either, but Ronnie is obviously a more pressing concern.

Calvin Pace

Im not sure if anyone else saw what Calvin pace said in the New York times but here is an exsample of a sore loser.

Afterward, linebacker Calvin Pace, who returned from a four-game suspension, was angry. Pace called Henne a “second-year clown quarterback,” saying “you have to give him credit, but our defense lost the game today.”

Pace added: “I’m going to be honest. I can’t respect that stuff, all that Wildcat. Because we’re in the N.F.L., man.” He called the Wildcat “nonsense” and said: “They got us today. But we’ll see them again.”

I say, yes you are in the N.F.L. and that "nonsence" just got you beat.

What is success for Chad Henne?

As we all know by now it looks as if though Chad Henne will be our starter for the remainder of the season. Already, after a quarter and a half some have labeled him as “the suck”. I was wondering what would be considered a good season for him? What would warrant him a full offseason as the starter? I thought that another year holding a clipboard for him would have done him a lot of good. I don’t think the team is built well enough for a young, inexperienced quarterback. Our receivers are not what you would call elite. And where as other teams have a tight end to dump off to in a bad situation. this year our TE have been so non existent that people haven’t even realized it yet. It like we don’t have any. So with that in mind what do you think is a good season for him?

Expectation

A little over a year ago, the Miami Dolphins took the field after the worst season in franchise history. They had a new regime in the front office and a large group of new faces wearing jerseys. They began their season with the hated New York Jets. It turned out to be a close game that was won by the jets on fluke plays. A marked improvement from the year before and a reason for a slight bit of hope for the future.

The next week would not be so uplifting. A 31-10 thumping by the eventual NFC champion Arizona Cardinals. It was a bad loss that felt a lot like a recap of the previous season. In the end it was chalked up to being the same ol’ Dolphins and growing pains of a re-building franchise.

In week 3 of the season, a funny thing happened. The Dolphins won, and they won big. A destruction of AFC east rival New England to the tune of 38 to 13. Instantly there was not only a renewed sense of hope for the future, but new idea of winning now. The term “re-building” was thrown out the window and the “Why not us” mentality was born.

The dolphins would go on to win 10 more games that season and win the division. The offseason began with another solid draft and strong free agent signings by the front office, suring up the secondary and strengthening the offensive line. All was right with the world, but the Dolphins also added one thing to there team that they did not have at the beginning of last year…expectations.

So far in 2009 the dolphins are once again 0-2. The first loss, to the other comeback team from last year, the Atlanta Falcons was filled with bad offensive line work and a secondary that was vulnibril to tight ends. A disappointing loss. At 0-1 the rumblings already began. The second game of the season against the Colts saw the Dolphins rush for over 200 yards and completely dominate the clock with 45 minutes of position only to be beaten by a Peyton Manning come from behind touchdown drive. A close 27-23 loss.

If the Colts game would have happened that way this same time last year the reaction would be totally different right now. After all, the Dolphins not only went out there and competed, but at times dominated one of the elite teams in the National Football League. They stepped out on to the field with a game plan, and exsucuted that game plan, but just did not have enough fire power at the end to seal the deal. But its not last year, and the Dolphins are the defending AFC East champions, and Fans now have expectations. The fans who just one month ago were praising the regime are now cursing offseason such as Gibril Wilson and Resigning players for large sums. When truth be told the regime biggest mistake was last year’s success.

On a personal note I saw something in last night game thread that really did bother me. During the last two minutes of the game while the dolphins were trying to go down the field there were a number of “fans” posting 0-2 before the game was over. To me that is unacceptable. I pride myself on being one of the people who went to and suffered through every home game at Dolphin stadium in 2007. I never gave up on my dolphins in any game until the last snap. If you that kind of fan go to Foxboro where your kind is welcomed.

We all have our little quirks when it comes to superstitions or just out right craziness when it comes to foot ball.

I have a friend that will not pee if his team is winning in the first half, and will continue to hold throughout out the entire game. I guess he believes that he has some form of influence on his team winning and loosing through his piss… I don’t know.

My thing is that I refuse to drink Sam Adams beer during the season, because I hate the Pats so much I don’t want to consume anything that has to do with Boston. What makes that tuff is that I think Sam Adams Oktoberfest is one of the best beers out there, but my dolphins are just more important.

So I guess my questions to you are, what’s your thing that you do that makes others wonder if you are either too intense or retarded.

Slow Friday

So, this is my first post and since there doesn’t seem to be anything of substance going on in the world of football, on top of the fact that my job is the equivalent of hanging out at a south Florida D.M.V. just for fun, I figured why not.

I was arguing with my buddy, who happens to be one of the 45 Buffalo Bills fans in the world, about our respective teams and who has been worse over the last few years. The main point of my argument being that the Bills are at the last year of a “decade of suck” in witch they have failed to make the playoffs. He’s response being that because of the “lucky” season we had last year that I have forgotten just how bad we were. Not just the 1-15 season either.

That made me think we have had only three losing seasons in the past nine, 4-12 in 2004, 6-10 in 2006, and of coarse 1-15 in 2007. Every other season was 9-7 or better. All and all not to bad.

He’s point though was,” how bad were the losing teams?” That question brought me back to a time where my friends would have the theme from the Benny Hill Show paused on the speaker system, just for the off chance that the Dolphin offence, by the grace of god, got into the redzone. Everyone here knows that when those teams would be in range to score, not only did they find a way NOT to score, but it would be embarrassing for any Phinfan and absolutely hysterical for anyone else. Jay Fiedler comes to mind….just in general.

If there is one play that sticks out in my mind as being the worst during those nine seasons, its has to be John Beck throwing an interception BEHIND HIM against Buffalo in 2007. All I could here was the laughter, not only coming from my friends but also the neighbors in the condo next to me. I got up, went to the fridge, grabbed the 12 pack of Guinness, and locked myself in my room till I had to go to work the next morning. I’m sure all of you have your own story about an awful moment in Dolphin history; there are a couple to choose from.

As I really think about, who the hell cares about the past, (even though our past is way better the Bills) the most important thing is that the Dolphins have a bright future. The days of cringing when a ball is thrown deep, will be replaced by excitement to see the ball go down field. Although I’ll still get a little queasy when were inside the twenty.
