Team Diet|BMI: Possible Root of Injuries...
We'll make this short and sweet...
As everyone has been debating the possible cause of injuries to Pitino's teams over the past 10 years, no one has made mention of or questioned the team diet. My understanding is this...Pitino is a low-fat, lean muscle advocate. The problem with such a diet is that a lack of fat will cause a lack of joint nourishment. Fat and water are what keep joints lubricated...but it is fat that gives them their strength. Now, my post is entirely theoretical, as I do not know what the team nutritionist has our guys eating (aside from Chane's penchant for cake). But from sound bites here and there over the years, my understanding is that fat is not ideal in the Pitino system or at the team table. Additionally, % body fat (do a quick google search and see how many times Pitino's name is mentioned with 'percent body fat') is an integral part of his conditioning...which only further adds insult to injury in regards to joint health when one is deprived of normal working body fat. So to conclude...from a nutrition standpoint, if one is neither consuming enough fat regularly nor is maintaining a healthy BMI with enough spare body fat, this becomes a recipe for disaster in terms of injuries to fascia and joints. Fat is what protects our bodies--especially the joints--from injury. Take that away and injuries become inevitable.
It would be interesting to find out what the team diet entails and whether this is, in fact, at the root of our string of inexplicable team injuries. I welcome any discourse on the subject and any information to help draw a more sound conclusion. Go Cards!

Against Louisville Going to the Big 12
I may be in the minority here but I'm with Rick on this one. The logistics of the Big 12, coupled with schools that have very little in common with Louisville make the lure of it all not enough to sway me. I was against this move from the get-go, and think West Virginia very quickly is going to find itself in a position less favorable (at least geographically speaking...which is a nightmare...with no real rivals to speak of) than they had with border rivals and fairly reasonable commutes for its fans. I'll take the scraps of the Big 12 in the Big East, but I don't want to be scraps for another league, especially one that is geographically located in Texas for the most part no less--unless it's the ACC or the SEC, and even then I have trepidation about being in the SEC. Sorry, but I'll take the basketball powerhouses...the tradition of MSG, the great geographical travel options (yes, I know Texas is no further than Tampa, if not closer...but still...who wants to go to Oklahoma?), and being a big fish in a smaller pond. I'm either holding out for an ACC bid or no dice. I would've liked to have seen Temple and Memphis get added to the Big East and think Marinatto would be foolish for not bringing them aboard. Anyhow, I guess we'll all see what happens in the coming months, but as it stands, I am vehemently against a Big 12 merger, and am perfectly content on staying put until we get a reasonable offer elsewhere. In the meantime, beat West Virginia. Go CARDS!
I need some NEWS!!!
Look, I want to know what Gorgui eats for breakfast, what kind of underwear Michael Lee Harris prefers (and why), where Peyton is at any given moment, and how many times SVT has whooped MM in FIFA 2011 this week! I want the Chron to make TMZ look like Reuters. Is this possible??? Mike, can you let the dogs out!? I know as a fan base we are capable of this. We need some beat reporters that are stuck to the ass of Swopshire (how are his testicles holding up?) and Vic like rubber cement every time they turn around. Of course, no bad publicity would ever be reported...only positive, uplifting, or totally inconsequential (but really, is there any such thing in regards to these physical specimens?) information.
And lest you think I'm kidding or embellishing, or simply creating hyperbole (which I think was discussed in depth on this site or a one ITV), I can assure you I am not. I want to know what CRP said to his wife this morning before he kissed her and went to work....what grocery store Colonel Strong (have we ordained him yet?) shops at and what kind of coffee he prefers (two lumps or one?) and, if it wasn't too much to ask, would he consider signing my Ace of Base greatest hits album? Anyhow, these are my thoughts...and they are sincere goddamnit.

Sporting News Article On DSmith
When you think elephant, you probably think trunk. An adult African elephant's trunk is about seven feet (two meters) long! It's actually an elongated nose and upper lip. Like most noses, trunks are for smelling. But they're also for touching and grasping.
Demarcus Smith interview (brief)
Only found on the likes of a UK fan page...
A running back from Bullit County?
This is random, but I seem to remember UL getting a commitment during the previous coaching staff's tenure (if we can call it that) from a white running back from Bullit county that was apparently lights out. I can't for the life of me remember his name, and seem to recall that he was coming as a walk-on. Anyone remember this? Where is this kid? Where is the Elijah Justice of the Cardinal football team these days?
I'm gonna fan the flames....
Sorry I couldn't resist. I'm maybe a little overzealous in regards to the Demar Dorsey/Jordan Campbell saga and when, if, or how they will come to don a Cardinal uniform. This isn't exactly investigative journalism at it's best, but news of their arrival appears to be imminent (yes, I know there was another post about it). I should probably at this point mention that the authenticity of No Fly Zone's Twitter page was and has been in dispute. Judging by recent posts, however, this no longer appears to be the case. Looks pretty genuine now by all accounts. Jordan Campbell's page is undoubtedly his own work. Either way, from the looks of things in regards to recent posts, both are either on their way or just about.
Again, apologies for continuing to kick a dead horse, but as the 23rd nears deadline, time appears to be crucial in bringing this tandem on board. And should it all go through as expected, I do believe this will be a HUGE shot in the arm for team morale and over all depth in an area we all know we lack. If anyone has any more info feel free to lay it on me.

Wayne Blackshear: One-and-done?

I don't believe we've ever had a true one-and-done. Remind me if I'm wrong. What are everyone's thoughts on this kid? I say he becomes our first (simultaneously along with Q. Miller). I say he's that good. I love his attitude and drive and I imagine he'll be roaming the baseline a la Jerome Harmon (did I just say that name?) in the downtown arena before long. I don't really see his game as much at the two as I would at the three spot, but just my opinion.
God is Great and so is the 'Ville
I know I've been hyping the Demar Dorsey scenario lately, and I don't want to get our hopes up, but one can't help but appreciate his loyalty and adoration for our beloved program. His latest tweet is both profound and insightful:
I'VE BEEN REAL BUSY! LIVIN LIFE AND MAKIN THE MOST OUT OF LIFE'S OPPORTUNITIES! GOD IS GREAT AND SO IS DA VILLE!! LOL!! $***NoFlyZone***$
Amen, Mr. Dorsey...amen.

Welcome to the Ville Demar Dorsey? :P
I wouldn't say this is official, but Mr. Dorsey has made some rather curious posts as of the lasts 24 hours that would indicate that, in fact, the University of Louisville has decided to retain his services in the secondary. Just reporting the word on the street. Welcome to the Ville Mr. Dorsey. :)
per Mr. Dorsey's twitter:
Thanks to all da fans! U ALL R DA BEST!!! NO FLY ZONE IS N DA VILLE!!

It would be interesting to hear some news on Victor Anderson
Can we make some news out of thin air? Can we get an interview? Does anybody check his garbage? This is easily our best player going into the season and quite possibly his last depending on his performance (though doubtful). I hope to God the spread offense doesn't diminish what he can do. Not that I'm bitching about a spread offense (I is a fan), just love me some Vic. And post-Krag, maybe I'm a little overprotective. Thoughts? Comments? Moist towelette?
