MMAmania.com My interview with Carlos Condit

04_condit_kim_large_medium

via cdn2.sbnation.com

He's one of the top MMA fighters in the game today. He is Carlos Condit and began his career when he 18. Carlos trains at the esteemed Jackson's Submission Fight Team out of Albuquerque, NM. He has an impressive record of 27-5. Condit has an agressive nature of fighting and a knack for finishing fights. In fact, his first 17 fights were all finished in the first round. Out of his 27 wins, only 1 has come by decision.

Carlos has accomplished a lot at the young age of 27. He was a runner-up at the Rumble on the Rock 8 man Welterweight Tournament in 2006. Condit next went on to fight for the WEC in 2007. At WEC 26, Carlos defeated John Alessio for the vacant WEC Welterweight Title. He would go on the defend the belt 3 times before the WEC welterweights were absorbed into the UFC.

Condit is 4-1 to date for his run in the UFC. His only loss was a very close decision to Martin Kampmann in his UFC debut in April 2009. A fight that could of went either way. His exciting fighting style has earned him 2 Knockout of the Night bonuses and 1 Fight of the Night bonus in those 5 fights. Carlos is next expected to face B.J. Penn at UFC 137 in October. It is beleived that a win over Penn will earn him a shot at the UFC Welterweight Title.

I was able to get in contact with Condit. He allowed me to briefly interview him via the internet. Carlos often connects with his fans on Twitter. His Twitter name is @CarlosCondit. He can also be reached at www.carloscondit.me. Carlos Condit t-shirts & merchandising is also available. Condit's Signature shirt from Headrush is available at many mma clothing sites across the net. I have included my questions for Carlos and his answers below.

Q : What influenced you to start training MMA?

CC: I was into martial arts froma young age, ninja turtles and JCVD movies and such. Saw ufc when I was 9 and was hooked.

Q : When was your first pro fight? Where?

CC: Did my first pro fight when I was 18 in Juarez, Mexico.

Q : How much time(per week) is dedicated to your training?

CC: When I'm in camp I train approx 3 hrs a day 5-6 days a week. Sometimes more.

Q : How do you keep yourself motivated?

CC: I absolutely love what I do, so I'm pretty motivated in general. But when I need a push, my family is a great source of inspiration.

Q : What is your "walk around" weight, say at the beginning of camp? and do you ever see yourself moving up to MW?

CC: I walk around @ around 190. WW is a perfect division for me, thats where I'll finish out my career.

Q : What do you enjoy doing in the rare moments away from training, fighting?

CC: When I have free time I hang out with my son, watch documentaries, go shooting, go fishing, read random stuff on wikipedia.

Q : If you defeat BJ and your next fight is NOT a title fight, is there anyone you'd like to fight? or a loss you'd like to avenge?

CC: If I beat BJ I will probably get a title shot. If for whatever reason I don't, I'd like to avenge my loss to Shields.

Anyone else having a lousy day?  Well, the best way I put a smile on my face, and sometimes cant stop laughing uncontrollably is viewing some of the hilarious photoshopped images/gifs of Michael Bisping I have seen on the internet over the past few years.  There are so many great ones out there, I would like to use this fanpost for everyone to post their favorite and funniest photoshopped pics.  NO criteria, as long as they include Bisping and are funny.  I know, how can a photoshopped picture of Bisping NOT be funny?

So lets see which one will be the funniest.  After a couple days, I want to have a poll and let you guys pick which one is the best.  I cant wait, this is gonna be freakin hilarious.

Get at it!!!! Above is my favorite knock on Bisping.  The video is so hilarious and so true.  It has some of the best photoshopped Bisping pics ever, and is the funniest video on the cocky brit I have ever seen.

MMAmania.com Can you believe the nerve of this M-1 mouthpiece?

Evgeni Kogan Says Fedor Loss Doesn't Affect M-1 Global's Future (via ArielHelwani)

You only need to watch the opening couple statements from M-1 Global's Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan to see and hear enough.  I am shocked at the arrogance of this guy.  It it werent for Helwani, no one would probably interview this pr**k.  Above is the video of Ariel Helwani's "POST"  fight interview with Kogan .  Sorry this is short, but I mostly look forward to hearing opinions on this (insert expletive).   Can you believe this guy is telling Ariel when he should be interviewed?

MMAmania.com Mario Yamasaki in charge of Silva-Belfort title fight at UFC 126. Let us all pray that he pays attention to this one

Yep Mario Yamasaki.  MMAJunkie broke the bad news that Mario Yamasaki would be in charge of the title fight between Silva and Belfort.  I know referees do not have it easy, but I wanted to show what occured at the hands of Mario Yamasaki during the Barry-Beltran fight.  I will describe briefly below the happening during the Beltran-Barry fight at the Fight For the Troops event over the past weekend, where, yes, Mario Yamasaki was in charge of the match.

I dont have a link to the video, but you can go to UFC.com and "buy" it.  Anyhow go lets go to about 1:38 left of round 3.  This is when Beltran got an accidental eye poke.  Beltran was visibly in pain and Mario Yamasaki yells "stop, stop, stop.......TIME" as he motions time out with his hands, then goes towards Beltran.  Mario's next word's to Beltran are what is the most amazing.  Mario looks at Beltran and says..."what happened?...your leg?...your legs?".  Beltran looks disgustingly at Mario and says emphatically, "NO, my EYE!!!!!"

So, basically what happened is Mario had NO CLUE what had just happened and then called time out because "something was wrong" with Beltran.  This has happened before with Mario, Herb Dean. as well as other referees.  I know referees get a lot of criticism and their job is very difficult, but they cant call time out in a mma fight when they thought someone got hurt.  If Mario thought Beltran's leg was hurt. then the ONLY option there would of been to call the fight over due to tko injury.  Calling time out to figure what is wrong is not an option.  If Beltran was injured due to leg kicks, then Mario just gave him sufficient time to recover and get back into the fight.  Just imagine if Mario did this everytime someone got hurt or knocked down. This guy needs to pay attention more.

Anyone else notice this??.

MMAmania.com Most controversial decisions in UFC history

There are many more questionable decisions than those listed below. These are just my top 5 most controversial. Please feel free to add your most controversial decision (if not listed in my poll) below in the comments. I have quite a few more, including smaller shows, but I chose to go with these 5 because they are probably the most well known and most controversial. I personally think that Bas Rutten getting the nod (for the UFC Heavyweight title) against Randleman at UFC 20 was the most corrupt and awful decision ever. What do you think was the worst decision in UFC history? Enjoy! I look forward to your thoughts!

MMAmania.com Dana said he listens to the fans.....

I will try make this as quick. and painless as possible  I have only done a couple of these fanposts, but really enjoy reading others' here at mmamania.com.  Anyhow, I have seen Dana White interviews lately where he says he is now rethinking Mir-Lesnar III.  Dana said it was mainly because of the fan input/outcry which primarily came from his Twitter.  Dana has repeatedly said he listens to what the fans have to say and puts together the fights that the fans want to see.  Dana has done this before with the Henderson/Franklin rematch that was scheduled at one time.  The general concensus then was that not many really wanted to see that rematch.  If it werent because of us fans, we may not of been treated to the KO of a lifetime when Hendo quieted Bisping, even for just  a little bit.  If Dana had made the Hendo/Franklin rematch happen, who knows what may of happened.  Maybe Hendo would of won again and still got a KO of the year or even scarier, Franklin may of decisioned Bispinig...or even lost!!  OMG, thank God that didn't happen.

Anyhow, I was hoping that the fans would send a message to Dana about a future proposed title fight.  Maybe I am in the minority, but I cant imagine that many arent outraged that Jake Shields is still getting a title shot after his dismal debut perfomance.  Dana has promised title shots many times, then afterwards had a change of heart for whatever reason.  Again, maybe there are those out there that think Shields should still fight fot the title and "earned" his shot.  No disrespect to Shields or fans of his.  I am only trying to reach those of you that feel the same as I do.  I am so upset because guys like Paulo Thiago, Carlos Condit, Jake Ellenberger, Jon Fitch, Diego Sanchez, etc, etc fight 3 fighters of equal skill level and/or better than Kampmann each  year and ONE loss really throws them far back in the title hunt.  If Shields does get that title shot it will not be till at least late spring or early summer 2011(about 10 months from debut and probably and about the same time the mentioned above fighters will have to get by THREE really good fighters just to keep pace and stay near the top of the stacked UFC WW division..  And all Shields needed in the same period of time was to get by Kampmann, well, and luck from the judges  I am not knocking Kampmann, he is one of my favorite fighters.  I think he is about 5th or 6th best UFC WW and this is a stacked division.  Many even thought Kampmann won that fight, as do I.  That fight was far from a decisive or dominant win and many believe that Jake didnt even win the fight, period.  I just feel that Shields needs to prove himself before he gets a title shot.  The other top dogs in the Welterweight division will fight 3 contenders(of equal skill to Kampmann and better) by the time Shields fights for the title.  I am just asking people that feel as I do about Shields and his "title" shot to simply send Dana Whtie a simple Twitter message.

Here is a simple example.  Go to Twittter.com and send message to @danawhite.

@danawhite U said you listen to the fans.  If fans made you rethink Mir-Lesnar 3, then Shields' title shot should be no brainer. NO to Jake!

If you feel like I do, simply go to Twitter.com and cut and paste the above @danawhite tweet, or make up 1 of your own that fits the space given.  Send it everyday, twice a day, even 5 times per day.!!  Tell your friends to do the same.  Do whatever it takes to make sure they all dont get lost in the 1.2 million followers he has that also send him messages  Maybe I am blowing this way out of proportion.   But, Dana is known to both, listen to fan's outcries, AND go back on his word after promising a title shot.  This is definitely one of the times where he should reconsider.  I have even tweeted @danawhite Take a poll and see for yourself just how few UFC fans think Shields deserves that title shot.  I hope some of you start sending Dana some feedback and just maybe he will rethink this one also.

Thanks for your time and spread the word to anyone that also feels that Shields doesnt deserve the next shot at the UFC welterweight title.

MMAmania.com The UFC still "protecting" Bisping???

I am new to the Fanpost section here at Mmamania.  So, bare with me on this, and if you are a Bisping fan you can stop reading now.  I just want to throw an idea out there and see what you guys think.  Rumors are swirling about that Bisping will fight Dan Miller at UFC 114 in Las Vegas.  I will state here that I hate everything about Michael Bisping and how he is marketed by the UFC.  He has had the "easiest" path of just about any UFC fighter.  I could go on and on and on.  So here is my idea!!!!

I think an abvious choice for Bisping's next fight would be against Nate Marquardt.  They both are coming off losses  and at nearly the same time.  Bisping has said again and again how he wants "top" MW's, but somehow he rarely faces them.  What do you guys thinks???

I am going to start a "TWEET" bomb in hopes that many, many more will follow.  I am going to "tweet" to @danawhite something along the lines of..... STILL "protecting" Bisping???  Obvious choice and the fight fans want also is Marquardt/Bisping.  So, open a Twitter account, if you dont already have one, and starting sending Dana White the message!!!!  Dana has stated that he does listen to the fans, so lets give him something to think about.  Dana's name at Twitter is @danawhite

Who should Michael Bisping face next???
