The Phinsider Did we see the same game?

I've been following this blog for a very long time (end of Cam Cam days) and I have to say that Matty is perfect at putting into words exactly the way I feel about the phins.

With this said I'm shocked that everyone is so down about yesterday's game. The game I saw had an offensive line that pretty much dominated the Colt's defense in the passing and running games (234 yards rushing). I saw the Dolphins converting on 3rd downs (71 %). I saw a defense that stopped the colts on 4 of 7 third down conversions.

Look I'm not saying that I don't want the dolphins to win. But when we started rebuilding I was under the impression it was going to be a 2-3 year project. It's been 1 year and 2 games. We have rookies at cornerback. We have a new safety tandem and an offensive line that's only in their second year (for the most part) of playing together. I was much more depressed after the Atlanta game when the offensive line took the week off. To me the lines are the foundations of good teams and the first thing to implement when rebuilding. This week really gave me hope.

We have the a very good coaching staff. Sparano and Co are masters at correcting mistakes: no lost fumbles and no costly penalties this week. The tight end situation on defense will get resolved (I hope...).

Look at it this way, if the dolphins get the winning touchdown not only do we beat the Colts but we completely humiliate them. That's how close we were. I understand everyone' expectations are high after reaching the playoffs last year but look at who we beat and who we lost against. We lost to good teams. It pains me to say it but we are not as good as the Colts, Stealers or Ravens but we are getting there very quickly. You can say that we had the same record as the Patriots last year but ask yourselves are the Patriots still as good as everyone thinks they are?

I think this is a time for optimism and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.
