Pitching picture frames: Does anyone know where I could find a number of frames showing a pitch thrown from the mound to home plate? Preferably a fastball.
Thanks

Yesterday, the revival of the New York Cosmos was announced, with an aim to be playing in the MLS.

How would Red Bulls fans feel about having a second team in New York, and would it affect attendance levels for the Red Bulls?

Goodbye then, Barca.

The fact that they don't want to spend over £42m on one of the world's best midfielders who is entering the prime of his career shows they don't really want/need him, that he's just a trophy piece for them. Oh, and it also shows that they have troubling debt problems.

What exactly does spin angle mean

I know the greater spin angle means more movement, but is there an average spin for a pitch, such as a curveball, and what angle shows great movement? Oh, I mean Pitch f/x when I mention spin angle.

The Short Fuse Pressing, and what can Arsenal learn from Barcelona?

Think back to Arsenal's first match of the season: 6-1 away to Everton. While the result was remarkable for the amount of goal's that Arsenal scored it was also remarkable for the way Arsenal pressed. Everton were hardly allowed time on the ball, and they gave the ball away a lot. One example of a goal created by pressing was Arsenal's fourth: Arshavin won it from Hibbert, and Arsenal were away. Pressing continued against Portsmouth, Celtic, Man United and Man City, and Arsenal were fairly unlucky to lose in those last 2 games. Yet, what has happened to the pressing that Arsenal employed earlier in the season?

Could this be the reasoning behind Mike Jacobs? I'll hand it to Omar:

"If you see the teams in the World Series, they’ve got power," Mets General Manager Omar Minaya said. "You’ve got to be able to break the game open. It’s not only home runs, it’s slugging. I think the right word is slug. You’ve got to get the extra bases."

Mike Jacobs can slug. World Series teams can slug. By the transitive property, the Mets can be in the World Series because Mike Jacobs can slug.

Question about wOBA

is it possible to convert to weighted Runs for pitchers, as in on an ERA scale? As in converting opponents wOBA into runs

Steve Phillips ineffectualness:
Based on a statistics sheet from Japan, Steve Phillips, the Mets’ general manager at the time, thought Komiyama was an experienced reliever. But Phillips misread the category Games Finished to mean saves, when it actually referred to complete games. Komiyama went 0-3 with a 5.61 earned run average (and no saves) for the Mets and went home after one year.

tRA for Hitters
I was thinking whether it would be possible to do tRA for hitters; i.e take the batted ball run values, multiply by the batted ball numbers like in tRA and then divide by Plate Appearances.
Is this possible?

More Francoeur yuck
" RealityChuck says:

The hatred of Francour is purely emotional (ironic, since it comes from people who try to pretend they’re more rational that Mr. Spock in their analysis). It really bothers the sabrmetric crowd that someone can be a solid major leaguer despite the fact he doesn’t fit into their equations.

Francour is an emotional issue for them, since it means that their analysis methods are flawed. They are so emotionally invested in the numbers that any real-world example that contradicts their beliefs needs to be ostracized. In this, sabrmetricians are like any other religious cult. It isn’t possible for them to conceive that the numbers are wrong, so the problem has to be the player."
I know it's metsmerized, but god they're idiots.

Amazin' Avenue The Value of a Perfect Baserunner

Seeing as the Yankees gave a playoff spot to Freddy Guzman, who is basically a base stealer, I was wondering whether anyone had any ideas on the value of such a player.

I'm not sure what the AA rules are on "pimping" your own blog, but I occasionally write a blog, and this post examines what the Mets would've been if Reyes, Wright, Beltran and Santana hadn't got injured.
Also, I'm not completely sure on my WAR method.
Update: The spreadsheet that has the stats

Help with Pitcher War

I was seeing what Figgy's FIP would've been if he was up for the whole year (and used his MILB stats, translated, thanks to BP), and needed help with figuring out his wins above replacement. I used the glossary on fangraphs. I get a 3.07 FIP (the constant was around 3.1). To scale it to RA, I divide by .92. That gets me to 3.33. Then, to adjust by park factor, I divide (I think thats what I'm supposed to do) by .94. (ESPN's Park factors) That gets me to 3.55. That's fine to me, but when I did Maine, and divided by .92, and then .94, and then used the formula to get to WAR, I got .4, when it's .6. Did I go wrong in any way?

I know it doesn't mean much, but look how the WP goes up as Ollie goes on the DL, and down for the rest of the year as Reyes goes down.

Does anyone know the formula for ESPN's Fantasy Baseball Player Rater? I know it's complete bullshit, but I'm wondering if anyone can find out/knows what the formula is.
