Get Blazers Edge out of SB Nation!
Look what happens when we try and go global. Blazers Edge was down all day. If this is what the future of Blazers Edge is going to be like, then I don't want any part of it. When SB Nation goes down, Blazers Edge goes down right along with it. In all the time I've been visiting Blazers Edge, this is the first time that the site has been down for more than an hour or two. And the default message that appeared on my screen didn't even mention our beloved Blazers Edge. Does anyone else find this insulting? I don't want to be part of SB Nation if it means being subjected to their malfunctions and administrative foul ups. I want my old Blazers Edge back. It used to be unique. It used to be independent. It used to be a thriving, diverse, multi-storied culture. Now it looks and feels like a monoculture. And look what hapens when SB Nation gets hacked or gets infected with a virus. We locals here at Blazers Edge have to suffer along with everyone else across the SB Nation. It didn't used to be that way.
Perhaps I am overreacting. I'll keep coming here almost every day, but I gotta say I wish we hadn't joined SB Nation.

OT: The Round Mound Sounds Off
Charles Barkley had some interesting things to say on Wolf Blitzer's show yesterday. Gotta love the guy for always speaking candidly. He seems to have no fear of the moralistic loudmouths who will inevitably villify him for his remarks. A video clip of his remarks is here:

-OT- Bad Dream Last Night
Last night i didn't sleep very well. The first bad thing that happened was a cop called me at 2:00 am. I wasn't in trouble or anything like that. The cop was actually returning my call. But still, he didn't have to wait until 2:00 am to call me. He came on duty at 6:00 pm. The first thing he said was that he had just gotten my message. I suppose you could say he was being courteous by being prompt. But still, I'm sure he knew it wasn't an emergency. He didn't have to call me at 2:00 am. I had called him about a guy from California who he had given a speeding ticket to. Anyway, at the moment the phone rang I was having a bad dream or something, and when it rang I half-awakened and fell under the strange impression that the phone call had something to do with the events in my dream. It was kind of disturbing. I let the phone ring and ring, still in my dream and wondering whether I should answer. Finally I picked up, and you can imagine my alarm when a cop introduced himself on the other end.
The half-awake dreaming state that one sometimes finds oneself in is very interesting. But that is a subject for another diary.
I finished with the cop, all groggy with sleep and not thinking clearly at all. I think the cop was amused by the whole thing. What a freak. I must have talked to him for about 10 minutes. I was trying to talk him into changing the speeding citation from 120 MPH to 90. As I write this now I'm kind of amazed that this conversation actually happened. I bet the cop was joking around with his buddies and they cajoled him inito calling me at such an ungodly hour. I thought these guys were supposed to be public servants.
I laid awake for about a half hour after I hung up. The cop refused to change the citation. The whole incident was kind of pathetic. I wonder if the cop had me on speaker phone. I finally went to sleep. Then, to my horror, I dreamed that the Blazers traded Travis Outlaw for Devin Harris. Seriously. I actually dreamed that we traded Travis Outlaw. It made me feel sick in my dream. Extreme anxiety. I was practically pulling my hair out. My fantasy of meeting Travis and hanging out with him was gone forever. That was by far the worst part of the night.

Lamar Odom body slams Ray Allen
Odom made the L*kers-Celtics game look like an ice hockey game tonight. Evidently he lost his temper after one of the Celts blocked his shot. At the other end he slammed into Ray Allen while Allen was about to go up for a shot. Wasn't even going for the ball. Just a violent body check. It's a wonder that a brawl didn't break out. I think Allen was too shocked to think about retaliating. Anyway, I'm wondering how many people think Odom should be suspended by the league.
I hate this kind of play. I think it ruins the game and gives the NBA a bad reputation. I hope Odom is suspended for at least one game.
