Jets released WR Laveranues Coles.
Coles' $6 million is guaranteed, however, and the Jets are open to bringing him back. Coles also sees open to it. "We didn't leave on bad terms," he said. "It's not out of the question that I could come back." Still, Coles wants a contract extension and the Jets are hesitant to appease him at age 30 with declining long speed. If no reunion is worked out, Coles still becomes arguably the No. 2 receiver on the market, behind only T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

I find this interesting because although they did say that he could return to the Jets, wasn't he one of the guys in the off-season who was open about how much he enjoys playing with Chad(pennington)? Would you want him if he came at the right price?

Brandon London revealed that the Dolphins recently tendered him a new contract.

He was an exclusive rights free agent, so he couldn't have gone anywhere anyways. He'll make $385,000 in 2009 and be eligible for restricted free agency in 2010. Miami now has five WRs under contract; London, Greg Camarillo, Ted Ginn Jr., Davone Bess, and Ernest Wilford. Wilford will likely be cut shortly.

time to stalk the internet for my favorite mock drafts (for the Dolphins) day in and day out.

They have a 3 round mock draft and here are who they have us picking:

25. Duke Robinson, G Oklahoma.

44. * From Washington * Sean Smith, CB/S Utah

56. Ron Brace, NT Boston College

87. Mohamed Massaquoi, WR Georgia

I would love to dissect these, but I'm not very good to be honest. I watched Massaquoi play (Florida fan), but admittedly never really paid attention to Utah or BC. I did, however, notice that Oklahoma's Offensive Line played EXTREMELY well throughout the entire season, so I did look up some info on this supposed first round choice.

Duke Robinson - 6'5" 335 lbs. He was coined "the quickest 335 pounder you will ever see." He played LG in college and could make for a formidable tandem on the left side of the line with Big Jake. Where I have read about him, the articles tend to say that 335 is a generous weight listing. Apparently he is closer to 345 than 335.

Walterfootball.com does provide analysis of each pick, however brief and bad it may be.

Pedro Martinez coming to Miami?

I was browsing the message boards on CBSsports and apparently ESPN reported that the Marlins are "talking" to Pedro about playing for us next season. Pretty interesting to me being that, although he's a name and would require some money, he does train (rehab) down here and maybe he would give us a discount on his salary?

Again though, I'm not 100% sure if this was ever mentioned on ESPN and the message board was the first place I saw it. I still find it interesting and would gladly welcome Pedro to the fish, albeit for the right price.

In the aftermath of the remarks made by David Samson in regards to the New York Yankees, the Yankees sign an Ex-Marlin.

The Yankees and A.J. Burnett have agreed to a five-year, $82.5 million contract, according to FOXSports.com and ESPN.com.

Burnett would have looked pretty good at the top of the Braves' rotation, but the club is probably better off with him having taken the Yankees' offer. Odds are that he'll give the team three quality seasons during the five-year commitment. The soon-to-be 32-year-old has made just 30 starts twice in his career, both times in contract years. Of course, he is a legitimate No. 2 starter when he's healthy, and the Yankees should be able to cover his absences fairly well.

I love AJ, but I can't help but hope the Yankees made a horrible decision with this signing. Either way, if they made a good decision signing him that means he is in the AL East and not on the braves!

Also, I know that it would be physically impossible to peg these two at each other thanks to a certain someone (thanks mr. marlin). So as a disclaimer, there is no way that this game will actually take place. Sorry if I got any of your hopes up.

Kevin Gregg traded to the Chicago Cubs

Fresh off of rotoworld and I just heard it confirmed on ESPN.

Cubs acquired RHP Kevin Gregg from the Marlins for RHP Jose Ceda.

Gregg has 61 saves the last two years, but he's hardly a dominant reliever and he's looking at a salary of around $4 million for next season. If the Marlins were only going to move one of their arbitration-eligible players this winter, he should have been the one to go. Of course, he's actually the fourth. The Marlins figure to replace him with Matt Lindstrom, though if a rehabbing veteran wants to sign cheap (Jason Isringhausen?), some sort of competition could be set up.

I can't say I'm too upset about this one. Not at all, actually. Thoughts?

Jacobs officially traded to Royals

Royals acquired first baseman Mike Jacobs from the Marlins for RHP Leo Nunez.

The Marlins will likely let Gaby Sanchez and Dallas McPherson battle it out to become Jacobs' replacement. Sanchez will be the favorite, but the Marlins would be better defensively with McPherson at third and Jorge Cantu at first.

Doesn't give us much on Nunez and what his impact could be. Me, personally, don't like the trade, but that's why I am only a fan.

So I did some research last night (drunk and tired so I may be off) but unless I'm a total douchebag the last time we were .500 or better was January 1st 2006 when we ended our season with a victory over New England to go 9-7 on the year.

Guys that is 987 days (give or take 5 or 6 due to my aforementioned state of mind)

And I know it would only be 1 - 1, but hell that's a step in the right direction! It's been a long time since the Fins have been out of the doghouse of the NFL. A 1-1 record also would put us in 3rd or even 2nd in the division! (albeit a tie, but who cares!)

Remember January 1st 2006? jeez that was Nick Saban, the streak at the end of the year. Then he followed that up with the disappointment of the 4 - 12 season which was then regrettably followed up by the hiring of the man whose name I refuse to say or type.

Anyways, I just thought that this was an interesting (and extremely depressing - i've already begun hitting the bottle since I unearthed this) tidbit.

Time to turn this thing around and it starts today! Let's go fins!

So on PTI on ESPN they did OVER/UNDER 5 Wins for the Miami Dolphins and Mike Wilbon said over. He predicted a 7-9 Season for the Dolphins.

I can't say that I agree or disagree, because I am still not sure yet. I just think it's great to see someone who is unbiased (at least towards the dolphins Wilbon is) pick the Dolphins to surprise. He actually just got me a little more excited than I was before. Let's see.
