Looks like OBD was willing to make a big play for the TE, but he didn't want to come to Buffalo.

Might be something for the Bills to check out. Possible short term OT fill-in?

State of Confusion..er...Quarterbacks

Losman should be the QB at this point and I think there should be no question about it. Now, don't get me wrong, I am still very unsure about J.P. I fear that maybe, while he has loads of physical talent, he might not have the mental make-up of a really solid NFL QB. He doesn't seem to always go through his progressions and sometimes looks very unsure in the pocket. In his time in the league, he has never really become a consistent player. Plus, with Edwards looking calm and comfortable in his three games, in does seem like it might be time for a switch. But, I think benching Losman is a big mistake at this time. It sends the wrong message to a young team and it could result in turning a team that is close and plays hard for one another into a team divided with Losman-backers and Edwards-backers. Plus, I think the organization needs to see a bit more of Losman this year before they decide to pull the plug on him.

I would be amiss if I didn't mention Fairchild in a discussion about the Bills' offense and QBs. As I think a high percentage of people would agree, both QBs have been handcuffed by Fairchild and his play-calling. I don't want to attack and lay blame, but his offense has been ineffective at best. While Fewell's defense, awash in youth and devastated by injury, finds a way to keep the team in the game, the offense has not done anything consistently and not held up their end. I think a better, more effective move, instead of changing QBs, might be to start letting Schonert run the offense. But, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

So, here is my opinion on what should go down. The next four games are the Ravens, Jets, Bengals and Dolphins; a couple at home, a couple away. I say, give Losman those four games, open up the offense and let him be the gun-slinger he is; basically give him a legitimate chance to succeed. The Ravens have a good D, so that should be a good game for him to show something. The Jets aren't good and that game gives, somewhat, an apples to apples comparison between him and Edwards, since Edwards started against them the first time. Then finish the stretch up with two other bad teams, with bad defenses. If J.P. can't get something going consistently in that stretch, which should be the Bill's easiest stretch this year, then maybe he is not ever going to "get it" in Buffalo and they need to move on. If he plays some good football in that stretch, let him keep playing; it is not going to hurt Edwards to sit for now.

All in all, I am rooting for J.P., but I do have to admit that I am excited about Edwards. Hopefully, the organization will make the right calls and end up with a unified team with two good QBs.
