Weddle could sign Wednesday
David Canter, who is Eric Weddle's agent stayed up late last night talking to a team for over an hour. However, that team's name was not released.
David Canter tweeted "Good thing I stayed awake to watch A Few Good Men. Just had incredible 1 hour phone call with a team. Gonna be fun tomorrow WOWWW"
Not even SI's own Jim Trotter could get the team's name out of him.
There are currently 6 teams in on Weddle, HOU, JAX, IND, SD, and MINN. Realistically only HOU and JAX could compete with the salary demands (Likely to be around $8 mil/ per) and the fact that HOU has already planned to move Glover Quinn back to FS has the Jaguars the favorite.
However, never count out TB. They have a lot of money to spend and have been quiet, almost a little to quiet.

Minnesota Governor says funding for stadium not in budget proposal
Posted by Mike Florio on February 10, 2010 11:51 AM ET
In theory, the excitement generated by the 2009 Vikings, with a 12-4 season, a rollicking romp over the Cowboys in the division round of the playoffs, and an NFC title game for the ages should have been enough to shake some public money out of the tree that is Minnesota government.
But with fiscal problems making said tree look like the thing Charlie Brown bought at a very steep discount, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty said Tuesday that his proposal for a new state budget will not include funding for a new Vikings stadium, according to Mike Kaszuba of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
(Mr. Wilf? Ed Roski is on line 2. Again.)
Pawlenty suggested last week that a new lottery game could help fund the venue. Regardless of he ultimate plan, the clock is ticking more loudly than the heel of Marisa Tomei's boot.
The Metrodome lease expires after the 2011 season -- and the Vikings have no plans to renew it.
And so the Vikings in two seasons will become stadium free agents, which means that they should be the top targets for a move to Los Angeles.
Scouting the North and South Team (Day 2)
This is my first scout post on here. I hope I did well and everyone enjoys it.
NORTH:
QB) Tony Pike (Cincinnati)- continued his struggles on Tuesday. Had trouble throwing the deep-outs. However, Jacoby ford was able to make an acrobatic catch and bring one in, that was way over his head.
QB) Sean Canfield (Oregon State)- has worked more under center then the other two QB’s. However, they did not show much of him at practice.
QB) Dan Lefevour- (Central Michigan) has looked the best of all three QB’s. He made a nice pass on a bee-line deep post to WR Demario Alexander (Missouri)
RB) They didn’t show a whole lot of the RB’s. What they did show, was how well the RB’s could block a LB coming in. The only one that did well enough worth mentioning was Joique Bell (Wayne State; DI AA player of the year)
Legarrette Blount (Oregon), Rashawn Jackson (Virginia), Lonyae Miller (FS)- all struggled at this drill.
WR) Mardy Gilyard (Cincinnati)- has looked sick here. He was badly beaten the Jams and got great separation.
Jacoby Ford (Clemson)- has looked and been able to make the acrobatic catches, however his size put him at a disadvantage against a towering DB.
Taylor Price (Ohio)- seems to look confused at time on how to run a route. On an out route, I noticed he turned the wrong way and lost his footing. (Imagine that)
TE) Ed Dickson (Oregon)- looked good, displayed nice hands and crisp routes.
Mike Hoomanawanui (Illinois)- looked big and physical, was still able to make the catch with the LB draped all over him.
OL) Mike Iupati (G-Idaho)- Looked like a men amongst boys at the RG position. They tried him at LT, and it failed miserably. He looked uncomfortable having to move his feet that much in space. DE Alex Carrington (Arkansas State) beat Iupati both times Iupati was at Tackle. Also, DE Tyson Alualu (CAL) threw Iupati to the ground when Iupati was at tackle as well. This Tyson kid looked impressive, showing great strength.
Zane Beadles (T-Utah)- Looked like gabage (with no ‘r’.) DE Alex Carrington (Arkansas State) bull rushed him TWICE and drove him straight back. Also, DE Brandon Graham (Michigan) owned him and beat him both times to the outside.
Vladimir Ducasse (T-UMASS)- is best suited at RT. Brandon Graham (DE/OLB-Michigan) beat him once to the inside, with a swim move. The next one, Ducasse owned Brandon. 1-1. DE D’anthony Smith (LA TECH; Keep an eye on this kid)- beat Ducasse both times Ducasse was at G. Ducasse had no power step, looked like he was almost trying to play Tackle at the G position. Smith showed a nice inside move and beat Ducasse both times.
Shawn Lauvao (G-ASU)- showed great technique when Jerrod Odrick (DT-Penn State) tried a swim and spin move on Lauvao, and was able to sustain his ground. Lauvao won both.
Eric Olsen (C-ND)- Olsen is having nightmares after Mike Deal (DT-Purdue) bull rushed him straight back both times into the QB. 2-0 Neal. DT Cam Thomas bull-rushed Olsen and olsen gave up a little ground, but did a decent job. Next one, Cam owned Eric with a great spin move.
Matt Tennant (C-BC; My favorite OL men)- came off the ball and lunged at DT Cam Thomas (North Carolina) and Cam hit a swim move on him, however Matt was able to re-cover and after giving up a little ground, and won the battle. 2-0 Tennant. DE Tyson (CAL) killed Tennant (who was at guard) with a swim move, however the next time Tyson tried to bull-rush, and had no success. 1-1.
Ed Wang (T-VT)- Wang was slow off the ball and did not display good technique and balance. DE Austin Lane (Murray State) had good explosion, and got around Wang with an inside move AND then the next one, he straight up bull rushed Wang. Lane 2-0
Sam Young (T-ND)- was VERY impressive. Looks raw, but has great strength. Manhandled DE Tyson (CAL) both times and won both.
CB’s) Syd’Quan Thompson (CB-CAL) struggled on the deep routes with the WR’s, however owned any WR running a short route.
Kyle Wilson (CB-Boise State) blanketed and owend any WR that lined up against him.
Brandon Ghee (CB-Wake Forrest) ran with every WR and showed great awareness.
SOUTH:
QB)
Tim Tebow (UF) the cameras were focused on him for half the practice. Didn’t get to see to much of WR’s OR RB’s. Tebow is still working and looking better at dropping back in the 5 and 7 step drop. (Of course, still awful mechanics and still pushes the ball) But, had a much better day today. Looked good on the few bootlegs he did, hitting the WR’s in stride.
Zach Robinson (OK ST)- In my opinion looked the best. Got the ball out of his hands quick, and looked more confortable in the 5 and 7 step drops then any other QB.
Jarrette Brown (WV)- Um… Pat White but fatter anyone? They didn’t show much of him, at all.
WR)
Shay Hodge (Ole Miss)- looked very impressive. Was able to get separation and make nice catches. Turned a few heads.
Dexter Mccluster (Ole Miss) stole the show as he played some WR and RB. At WR did a stop and go route and left Javier Arenas in quicksand. Mccluster also laid-out and caught a pass from the Messiah (Aka, Tim).
Riley Cooper (UF)- looked good today. Struggled at times with the Jam, but was still able to make the catch. Had a few drops, but nothing big.
Joe Webb (UAB; transitioning from QB)- is big and physical. DB’s are having a hard time covering his big frame. Keep an eye on him, will be interesting.
DL/OL)
Geno Atkins (DT-Georgia) Owned Mitch Petrus (G-Arkansas) who reached for geno, and geno showed his speed and got around him. 2-0 Geno
Brandon Lang (DE Troy) vs. Ciron Black (T-LSU)- Black owned Lang on both of these. Lang only bull-rushed, nothing special. Ciron 2-0
Antonio Coleman (DE Auburn)- vs. Chris Scott (T- Tennessee)- Antonio had a nice inside move, and one the first one. Scott recovered and won round 2. 1-1
Dan Williams (DT- Tenn) vs. John Jerry (RG- Ole Miss) Jerry looked VERY impressive and owned Dan on both tries. Dan had nothing special and only displayed his bull-rush, which got him no where with Jerry. (Keep an eye on Jerry, he will shoot up draft boards) Jerry 2-0
Fat Cody (NT-ALA) vs. J.D. Walton (C-Baylor)- Will all 370 lbs going forward in one on one against Walton, its safe to say that cody won both, easily. Cody 2-0
Jeff Owens (DT-Georgia) vs. Jeff Byers (G-USC)- Byers owned ownes on both drills and even pan caked him on the last one. Byers looks good as well. Byers 2-0
(WELL, THAT’S IT FOR THE SOUTH, THEY DIDN’T SHOW MUCH OUTSIDE OF TEBOW, HOPEFULLY TOMORROW I WILL HAVE MORE)
Also, Jags had a formal interview with Geno Atkins and LeGarrette Blount.
Jags also worked a little with J.D Walton (Center from Baylor)

Fitzpatrick, Fitz against Jags D
| The Buffalo Bills are expected to start Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB this Sunday, according to a league source. Trent Edwards, the team’s longtime starter, returned to the lineup last week after missing about a month with a concussion, but was yanked in favor of Fitzpatrick during the loss to the Titans. |
http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/11/17/bills-expected-to-start-fitzpatrick-in-week-11/
According to a source the Bills will start QB Ryan Fitzpatrick over QB Trent Edwards against the Jaguars.
Edwards passed for 6 TD's and 7 INT's this season and has a 74.1 QB rating.
Fitzpartick played in 4 games and started 2 this season, he passed for 2 TD's and 4 INT's and has a QB rating of 49.8.
People Without Knowledge Shouldn't Start Rumors...
This was on Bleacher report.
[Editorial Note: This is pure garbage. This Bleacher Report Scribe's "source" says it's a done deal, then why did he follow it by saying it's a possibility for the Rams to move there... Please guys... ignore all of these idiots, or go to his site and tell him what a classless jerk he is for starting illegitimate rumors. There is no credence to this fool's article. All we can do is buy tickets and hope for the best. - Collin]
Football Back In LA?: Jaguars And Rams To Move To Los Angeles
by Doc
Scribe Written on October 22, 2009
For almost fourteen years now, the closest Los Angeles has been to an NFL team has been the USC Trojans. Well, that is about to change.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be moving to Los Angeles, and it could happen as soon as next season. With attendance down, the Jags have been trying to gain more support from their fans. They were even thinking about playing some games in Orlando.
My source tells me that the decision has already been made, but the front office is not announcing it, in an effort to not disrupt support from the fans in Jacksonville. At this point, there has been no decision as to whether or not the team's name will remain the "Jaguars."
The team will play at the Los Angeles Coliseum for two to three years, before ultimately moving to a stadium that will be built in the City of Industry. Here is a link to view the stadium that will be built:http://www.losangelesfootballstadium.com/
I have also learned, that there is a large possibility that the St. Louis Rams could relocate back to Los Angeles. This may come as no shock, as the team is up for sale; new ownership may seek more opportunities by moving the team back to L.A.
The NFL will be back in Los Angeles soon enough.
Third string quarterback Tyler Thigpen has been traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to Miami for an "undisclosed" draft choice, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Our View: Might Thigpen soon be the starter in Miami? With Chad Pennington out for the season, the Dolphins are going with Chad Henne in Week 4, but Henne has thrown just 31 career passes compared to Thigpen's 426. Henne is undoubtedly Miami's quarterback of the future, but if they haven't chalked up 2009 just yet, Thigpen could get a look, and it could be soon.
SERIOUSLY? And we couldn't get him...?

Our Next Backup?
As many of you know, when the Oakland Raiders released QB Andrew Walter the Jaguars were one of the teams in pursuit of him. Instead Andrew decided to sign with the New England Patriots.
Well, as of today, Mr. Walter is out of a job. New England cut him in favor of undrafted rookie QB Brian Hoyer (from Michigan State; those of you keeping track)
Does, this mean Jags will go after him? All signs would point to yes, since they have not added a "capable" backup. However, it remains to be seen. I have not heard anything as of now about the Jags pursuing him... All I know is that we *were* interested in him before he signed with the Pats.
(JUST WANTED TO SHARE THIS WITH YOU ALL; LET YOUR MINDS WONDER)

Sanchez Situation Getting Interesting
Sanchez Situation Getting Interesting
Posted by Mike Florio on April 23, 2009, 12:02 p.m. EDT
At a time when much of the focus falls on the question of when and if the Lions will do a deal with Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford as the No. 1 overall pick, the other big-name quarterback is continuing to stir things up.
According to Sal Paolantonio of ESPN, intrigue is developing surrounding USC quarterback Mark Sanchez
Several teams are involved — the Seahawks, Browns, Redskins, and Jets, for starters.
One scenario involves the Redskins moving from No. 12 13 to No. 4 (a spot held by Seattle), drafting Sanchez, and then trading Jason Campbell to the Vikings, Bucs, or Jets.
The Browns also are supposedly interested in taking Sanchez at No. 5 and trading Brady Quinn to the Bucs or the Jets.
Per Paolantonio, the Jets are the team most interested in Quinn. But the Jets also are inclined to try to beat the ‘Skins to Sanchez.
If Sanchez is on the board after pick No. 5, we’ve been told that the action is likely at No. 8, with the Jags trading down with the Redskins or the Jets.
Rumor going around...
The Buffalo Bills could now be trying to trade there new fourth round draft pick that they just acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles (121 overall) to the Jacksonville Jaguars for defensive tackle John Henderson, which would reunite Marcus Stroud and Henderson who were a dynamic duo in Jacksonville for several years, several sources tell ProFootballCentral.
NOW, the bills are also shopping Roscoe Parrish... Maybe they would want to include him in the deal? IDK, what do you guys think about this? I personally dont like it...
Update on Tests...
As i reported earlier in the week, Draftbible.com reported that a few players had tested positive for Marijuana or Steroids...
Here is an update from Profootballtalk.com
As of this posting, the guys (and/or gals) at NFLDraftBible.com haven’t taken down reports regarding multiple positive drug test results from the Scouting Combine, despite denials from the agents for some of the players, a statement from the league, and a specific demand from the agent for USC
linebacker Clay Matthews that the report he tested positive for steroids be retracted.
It’s as if the folks who run the site in question are oblivious to the firestorm they’ve created.
On Thursday, the site reported that Matthews and teammate Brian Cushing tested positive for steroids, and that several players tested positive for marijuana: Boston College
defensive tackle B.J. Raji, Illinois cornerback Vontae Davis, Florida receiver Percy Harvin, and UTEP kicker Joe Martinez.
In support of the steroids claim and the Raji, Davis, and Harvin marijuana report, the web site cited “various sources, including one NFL
team.”
For the Martinez marijuana report, the web site cited various sources and claimed that the report was “confirmed by UTEP.”
On Friday, Mark Humenik of Athletes First issued two separate e-mails to NFLDraftBible.com on behalf of Matthews, ultimately demanding a retraction of the report. Tom Condon of CAA strongly denied the report on behalf of Cushing. Agent Todd France also issued a denial as to Davis.
The e-mail messages regarding Matthews, culminating in the demand for a retraction, are raising eyebrows as to B.J. Raji’s reported positive result. Athletes First represents both players, and the demand for a retraction has been made only as to Matthews.
The implication, of course, is that Athletes First might be conceding the accuracy of the report as to Raji.
Indeed, SI.com previously reported that Raji tested positive, and Athletes First issued at the time a statement that at no point denied the accuracy of the report: “We will not comment on rumors from unnamed sources. I do know that B.J. has been one of the hardest workers and nicest individuals that we at Athletes First represent. There is no doubt that he will be an invaluable addition to an NFL team both on the field as a player and in the community as a role model.”
FAILED DRUG TESTS...
As we ALL know, B.J Raji failed his Drug Test...
ALSO, Percy Harvin and Vontae Davis both failed their drug tests at the combine... Marijuana was found in their system...
In other news, Clay Matthews and Brian Cushing failed their drug test as well... Their's was STEROIDS...
I want some opinions as to SHOULD the Jags still take one of these guys, why or why not? And how bad does this affect their draft status... ?
Jags like C Eric Wood
**STORY FROM SCOUT.COM**
| Although the Jaguars re-signed veteran center Brad Meester at the start of free agency, the team could certainly use some more depth at the position, especially some younger depth. Find out which player has seemingly caught the Jaguars coaches eyes’, among other teams. | ||||
Louisville center Eric Wood may not be as highly touted of a prospect as California’s Alex Mack, but he has certainly caught the gander of many NFL scouts and coaches, as his work ethic is second to none. He’s aware of his stiff competition as there are several center prospects who could get selected on the first day of the draft. “That’s a really good center group and a lot of people told me this is the best center group they can remember,” Wood told reporters. “There’s a primary emphasis on playing different positions. When you get into the league and you get with a team, you’re going to have to play different positions just like coach Del Rio said.” Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio is very familiar with Wood’s work as he and the Jaguars staff had the opportunity to instruct him as he played for the South team during Senior Bowl week. Wood is familiar with Jags offensive line coach Andy Heck, and Heck appeared to make an impression on the young lineman. “He’s great,” Wood said of the Jaguars O-line coach. “I feel like he’s a really good offensive line coach and he understands his players and he played 12 years in the league so he definitely understands the position. It’s great playing for a guy who has NFL experience.”
“I’d say I’m fairly consistent in my play,” Wood said when asked what he could bring to a potential NFL employer. “What you see is primarily what you’re going to get on film. I’m very consistent throughout games based on what I’m playing and I’m not up and down. I feel I’ve got the strength, conditioning, and intelligence to play the game.” Some teams, such as the Pittsburgh Steelers have even considered giving the Louisville center a shot at guard, as scouts feel that he is versatile enough to play nearly anywhere on the line. Still, Wood has never suited up in any other position than center during his collegiate career. “I’ve never played guard in a game. I was starting at guard in my redshirt freshman year back in ’05 and Jason Spitz was playing center, who’s now playing for the Green Bay Packers, and we flip-flopped in the fall camp and I just went 49 straight at center.” Wood had to go all the way back to high school before he remembered playing any other position. “I used to play tight end in high school, and catching passes and catching touchdowns is always fun, but I moved to the offensive line,” Wood said. “What fires me up is trying to master my position, trying to master techniques, and then the obvious finishing blocks, knock-downs, pancakes are something I’ve always been a fan of.” When asked what NFL center he looked up to, he was quick to respond— “There’s a lot of great centers in the NFL and one guy I’ve been able to get some film on is Olin Kreutz. I appreciate the way he plays the game, he’s a technician, a tough guy, a tough player, and I like the way he plays.” Wood has steadily moved up draft boards as the final weekend in April is approaching, and that may be to the Jaguars detriment, as he could be gone when they pick in the third round, or possibly even the second. |

JAGS TRADE RUMOR...
I have just heard of a possible trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars... That would send John Henderson and a 4th round pick to Cleveland for Shaun Rogers...
This is VERY interesting as Shaun Rogers wants OUT of Cleveland and I personallt think that a 4th round pick along with John is WAY to much for a player who did not play to expectations last year...
I wouldn't mind having him, because he is a run stopper and is still younger than Henderson...
Florida Falcons....
Are you tired of waiting for the NFL combine or NFL draft just to get to hear something about football??? Well, you're in luck. I myself am part of a Semi-pro football team.
We are called the Florida Falcons and a non-profit organization, we play during the NFL offseason to keep the football atmosphere pumping through football fans veins... We play a 10 game schedule, playoffs and a championship. Alot of players have been to arena ball, college ball, and SOME even in the NFL... We don't get paid, we just play for the love of the game. However, we take it very serious as alot of us (including myself) have been playing for many years longing the day to win a ring (championship.)
If you are interested our website is thefloridafalcons.com. Our league is called the Florida Football Alliance (FFA.) Games are very cheap to attend and family friendly. For more info, just ask me, or you can go the our website!
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to seeing some of you at our games!
