Halos Heaven Roku Media Player adds MLB.tv

For anyone not familiar with it, the Roku Media Player was born the Netflix Player, a $99 appliance that you hook up to your TV, and your internet connection (it supports WiFi out of the box) and it allows you to play movies from Netflix's Watch Instantly catalog on your TV.  Recently renamed to expand beyond just Netflix, they first added support for Amazon's Video-on-Demand, and just yesterday they announced support for MLB.tv.  You have to have an existing MLB.tv account, and the same blackout restrictions apply so it's not going to replace cable any time soon, but if you're a baseball junkie, already have an MLB.tv subscription, and don't have a computer to hook up to your TV this could be a pretty good alternative.  It can do HD quality, provided that you have a fast enough internet connection.

EDIT: Link to LA Times article.

Halos Heaven Howie to the DL

So sayeth the official site.

Following Friday night's 5-4 victory over the Mariners, the Angels announced they were placing second baseman Howard Kendrick on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 14.

Bad news for sure, but Aybar seems to be picking up the slack.  If only Izturis would start hitting too then we wouldn't miss him as much.  Though I don't think either of them can really make up for a currently hitting .500 Howie.

Halos Heaven Juan Rivera

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet, but there's an article on the official site that mentions that Juan Rivera is going to be starting a rehab assignment on Monday.

Quoth the article: "Sidelined with a broken left leg suffered in winter ball, with brief 90-foot trots forming the extent of his physical activity, outfielder Juan Rivera will make his first rehab start -- or any start, for that matter -- of the season with the Rookie League Arizona Angels on Monday."

It goes on to quote Mike Scioscia saying that he could be in the 50-60 at bat range by the end of August or early September and that he could be an option later on.

Halos Heaven Figgy's recent hot streak thanks to Haynes

According to an article in LA Daily News Figgins credits some batting advice given to him by Nathan Haynes for his recent resurgence after his two-day benching:

"The things he said were real important because it's not your at-bats or the things you're doing wrong but to just try something different," Figgins said. "What he told me has been working."

Neither one is giving specifics on what words of wisdom Nate shared with Chone.

Halos Heaven More A-Rod Rumors

Buried in an article about Joe Torre regaining respect for A-Rod is this juicy little tidbit:

And everyone presumes that Arte Moreno will offer A-Rod partnership as an owner to get him to come west to play for the Angels.

That's all the article says about it.  It's obviously pure speculation, but would it work?  Has there ever been a player in their prime that a franchise wanted so badly that they were willing to offer them part ownership of the team in order to play with them?

Halos Heaven Jose Molina, bus driver

From the game recap at the official site.

"Jose Molina had a dream day for a catcher, calling a shutout, starting two rallies with hits and stealing home on the back end of a double steal with Reggie Willits. There was an unconfirmed rumor that Molina would drive the team bus to the airport for the flight to Texas and Friday night's start of a seven-game road trip."

For some reason the mental picture of Jose driving the bus with a big grin on his face just cracks me up. Just don't crash it Jose!

Halos Heaven Speier to the DL

According to the LA Times Speier's going on the 15-day DL "because of a non-baseball-related medical condition."

They're saying that it's basically the "flu-like symptoms" that he's been experiencing, but to land on the DL it's gotta be something worse than that.

Maybe Casey gave him mono.

Halos Heaven Extra Innings on cable

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070404&content_id=1880145&vkey=news_mlb&fext=. jsp&c_id=mlb

Three days into "extra innings" Major League Baseball came to a seven-year agreement with iN DEMAND to have the cable provider offer its Extra Innings package to cable operators across the country.

The deal, which had already been inked by DirecTV, ends months of acrimony and gives baseball fans the opportunity to renew the package with their local operators rather than switch to the satellite provider. EchoStar Satellite LLC is the lone entity that still hasn't come to an agreement.

Maybe Seitz will start blogging Angels games again?
