Only one eligible BCS-conference team will not get a bowl spot. Right now, that teams appears to be UCLA. However, there remains the possibility that Notre Dame, which I have in the Little Caesars Bowl, will turn down a bowl invite, what with its coaching staff in flux and its star players already setting sights on the NFL. In that event, a spot would open for the Bruins, most likely in either the GMAC or Humanitarian bowls.

Photos from USC vs ucla 11-28-09

Here are some interesting shots from the game yesterday.  Hope you guys enjoy them.

Here is an example on how to protect your statues from vandals.  The George Tirebiter statue was encased in a protective doghouse this year.

Neuheisel once again doing his best Pete Carroll imitation.

I caught this shot after the hug.  Chow and Pete shook hands and exchanged a hug before the game.  Looks like any hatchet that they may have had before has been buried.  With Norm's contract up, who knows what is in store for Norm Chow next year.

Pete and Neuheisel exchange pleasantries before the game.  I think the boy in the shot is Neuheisel's son.  What a thrill his son must have had by meeting a true coaching legend.

The USC student body correctly spells ucla with the formal "F" in the front.

The captains meet at midfield for the coin toss.  The ucla captains will cross midfield again when they try to start a fight in the 4th quarter.

Barkley throws a screen that ends up getting caught for a loss.  Shocker there.

Can you say "holding?"

Hands on hips.... running out of gas.... the ucla defense prepares to give up the game icing touchdown.

and Allen Bradford obliges them.  Thanks for playing ucla.

A man that enjoys monopoly.  Reeling in his opponents, and having them in his sights.  For a man that kicks so much ass in trash talk, he has a hard time backing it up in real life.  Maybe he will call a timeout instead of running out the clock allow us to score on a deep bomb.  Nah... only a twit would do that.

Nice for that ucla football player to correctly spell ucla with the formal "F" at the beginning.

Hope you all enjoyed the shots.

Fucla

Doesn't that bruin know that there is no "F" in ucla?

Just wondering
If anyone saw Chow and Carroll hug before the game. I shot a picture of it that I will post later. Could it be that the hatchet is buried?

Hypothetical Questions:

If Norm Chow wanted to return to USC, would Pete Carroll take him back?

If Norm Chow wanted to return to USC, would it be a good thing?

Details of child abuse at Rose Bowl
6 year old forced against his will to root for the bruins.

Till then, I will come here on Saturday afternoons to the swills and thrills of UCLA football. For 19 bucks I take a seat in the end zone -- $5 more for my young date.

"Go USC!" shouts my date.

"Um, it's UCLA," I whisper.

"Go UCLA!" the 6-year-old says with a wink.

Thus, he avoids a lynching and any other unpleasantness that might ruin this otherwise perfect autumn day, one of only two home games left, you know.

Chow not towing the company line

Here are a few quotes from Norm Chow from the article that TJ Simers wrote in the LA times today.  Chow is clearly not in agreement with Neuheisel's choice of playing two quarterbacks on Saturday, and he wants everyone to know it.  Call me crazy, but to me it looks like he wants to wash his hands of the decision to run a two quarterback system.  For Norm to come out publicly, and not back up Neuheisel is a big deal in my opinion.  Its definitely another crack in the coaching ninja alliance.

I would be totally shocked if Norm stayed at ucla after his contract is up.  He and Neuheisel clearly do not see eye to eye on how to run the offense, specifically at the quarterback position.  If you recall last season Neuheisel wanted to pull Kevin Craft out after one of his many interceptions, and Norm talked him out of it.  Prince is Chow's pick, and Chow is sticking with his choice.  Now who do you think is better at evaluating quarterback talent, and identifying which quarterback gives you the best chance to win?  If I were Neuheisel, I would listen to Norm.  He has a much better track record with this sort of thing.  I think Neuheisel is feeling the pressure after the 4 game skid and is looking for a quick and dirty way to fix it, or perhaps just wants to shake things up.  I think that kind of plan is going to backfire.

Notable Norm Chow quotes:

"I guess we need to find out which quarterback, although I thought we knew," Chow said, while going on to add, "I know who it is. I still think it is Kevin Prince.

"Now I'm not going against what the head coach has to say here; he's the boss and I've never fought with the head coach in my life."

"Disagreements are different from fights," said the former USC assistant. "I think it's important to find out for our program which guys are the best, but right now I think it's Prince."

"Last year was the first time in my entire coaching career I had a losing season,"

Better be ready to amend this quote Norm.

Amended quote:

"The last two years was the first time in my entire coaching career I had back to back losing seasons,"
