Padres Spring Training Cliches

I love these. Once again Rotoauthority has compiled a list of Spring Training cliches chronicling players attempts to gain/lose weight, having laser eye surgery, etc. in preparation for the '09 season.

Only bad thing is that there are no Padres listed. At first I was a bit disappointed not to see someone like Headley add 20lbs of muscle but then I figured that our boys have probably kept their new routines/procedures under wraps.

Now this is pure speculation but here are a few things I believe a few of our guys might have done in the off season. Feel free to speculate yourselves and add on.

Heath Bell - Shaved his goatee in an attempt to lose weight instead of giving up his beloved cookies.

Brian Giles - Started taking Karate lessons to improve mobility, flexibility and core strength. Insists that it was not to better defend himself from his psycho ex.

Jake Peavy - Had laser surgery to remove a "Go Cubs" tattoo that he got one drunken night in Vegas.

Any other thoughts or speculations?

Picked up this interesting little tid-bit over at Friar John's blog.

http://padres.mlblogs.com/

Seems that KT has had exceptional success in years ending with 8.

"Padres general manager Kevin Towers has a history of coming out on top in years that end with 8.

-1968: Sonoma Little League champions with the Bears.

-1978: Oregon state class 3A co-champions in football with Medford High School.

-1988: Pacific Coast League champions with the Las Vegas Stars.

-1998: National League champions with the Padres.

Detect a trend here? It's a good one for Padres fans."

Sounds great to me. I'll buy into that!
