quick poll
so just wondering.... is it better to be a single 20-something year old millionaire in miami? or a maried 20 something year old in miami if your wife is lauren tannehill?
TRADING FOR RIVERS
are you interested in trading draft picks and or players for san diago's stud QB? norv turner is likely to be out at seasons end and maybe a couple extra first round picks would be appealing to the incoming HC or san diago's GM. just wondering what you guys thought.
to all those hung up on andrew luck
in 1983 the miami dolphins missed on a "sure fire" #1 overall pick, franchise qb in john elway. all they got instead was dan marino.....4 qb's later.........so quit your bitch'n about suck for luck. i'll take the pride that comes with a win and take my chances in the draft. THANK AND HAVE A NICE DAY :)

what do you think about peyton hillis running for miami?
Peyton Hillis is on the outs in cleveland anyone interested in a hillis/thomas/bush back field next season?
Jay Glazer tells us about Richie Incognito's offseason training
Who will these FA help the most?
The Miami dolphins are aggressively trying to improve through free agency. Reggie Bush is the newest miami dolphin, and with Kyle Orton looking to be the next addition, i started to wonder who would benefit most from these two players. After the jump i will make my case for Brian Hartline.
Nahmdi Who????
Miami could, and probably will, sign 1 or maybe 2 big dollar free agents when the FA market re-opens. I believe that there are two FA that miami would be foolish to pass up on......Deanglo Williams and Jonathan Joseph. These two guys have the ability to make miami a real contender for the divisional crown this year. They wont be cheap, but with Ross's attraction to "playmakers" i dont think money would stand in the way.
i will make my case for miami offseason needs after the jump.....
Charles Clay....Gem of the dolphins draft
I was wondering, who in the NFL, would be a good comparison to Charles Clay. I came up with one name...Dallas Clark. the measurables are almost identical:
Dallas Clark: 6'4 245, 4.67 in the 40 yard dash
Charles Clay: 6'3 250, 4.73 in the 40 yard dash
people like to say Clay is to small to play on the line, perhaps, but you cant put him on the end of the line for his blocking skills! how often do you see guys like Dallas Clark being asked to block a rush DE or LB? he just dosent do it. but what Clark does do extremly well is catch the ball for 10-15-20 yard plays. he maybe asked to cross the middle and get a little push on the LB, but then he scrapes off into the soft spot in the zone or turns up field and catches the ball between the LB and the Safety. This is how Clay needs to be used. I understand that Clay doesnt have Payton Manning tossing it to him, but Clay could be the dynamic TE miami hasnt had in years. he Wont be known for his blocking skills, but when he catches 15 yard touchdowns right up the middle. his blocking woes will be overlookled. this is all dependant on how miami uses Clay. picture a 4 reciever set like this:
Marshall---------Gates------------------------------ClayXXXXX----------------------Bess----------------------Hartline
This would be the type of offense that i think Clay could help the most.
he's got the speed to beat a LB and he has great hands.....what else do you want from a pass catching TE?
I'll be keeping my eye on this guy all season, I think he's going to be a big surprise and a viable threat in his rookie season.
what do you think?
If QB wasnt a need, how would you grade the draft?
Were 3 rounds into the draft, maimi has 4 picks remaining:
they have drafted two rookies who fill needs, they both will start, and both will be an improvment over what we had last year. im hoping miami targets a TE in the fourth. DJ Williams is still on the board, and so are some "speedy" type RBs. Miami has the 14th pick in the 4th rd. there is still good value at that pick.
so here's the question:
If the dolphins went into the draft knowing the werent going to draft a QB. How would you grade thier draft so far?
the kid nobody is talking about.....
There's a lot of talk about who the dolphins will select with thier first round pick in the upcoming draft. my belief is that the dolphins 2nd round pick will be the defining selection for the phins this year. i suppose your saying " what a minute Frosty, the dolphins dont have a 2nd round pick....." I know they dont, not right now anyway. look people... everyone wants a first round QB. I think the more likely scenario is that the dolphins trade back in the first to get a 2nd round pick. there's just too many needs for the team to pass on the option to recoup that pick. with that being said....
I see the dolphins drafting an Interior offensive lineman in the first round. not the most "sexiest" pick, but then again neither was Jake Long.
Now, here's the kid i believe the dolphins should really look into.......Ricky Stanzi! I think this kid has got all the tools to be a great QB in the NFL. and for what it's worth, the kid is confidant and he is a leader ( two things our current QB is missing). to be cliche' "he can make all the throws" and he is accurate on the run. he has played in a pro-style offense at Iowa. he shows some nice touch on the deep pass and can riffle it to the outside on a 20 yard fade rout.
One of the biggest draws to this kid is.... he's kind of under the radar, as of right now. i believe he is a first round talent that is going to slip into the 2nd round. which is super beneficial for the miami dolphins. his 6-4 230 lb frame is a little slight but i bet he can put on 5-10 lbs of muscle and still keep his elusiveness.
again the plus side to taking Stanzi is we can land another offensive starter in the first, wether it be a OG/C like Pouncy or Wisniewski. there's a reasonable chance that one Mr. Mark Ingram may still be on the board. depending how far back the dolphins trade. i have posted a video of some of Ricky Stanzi highlights, when you watch, notice he's not tossing the ball into zone coverages ala Cam Newton, and he's not soley in the shot gun ala Blain Gabbard and Ryan Mallet. he show's some wheels on a QB keeper and throws on dime while in a dead sprint.
well, thats my case for the dolphins first 2 rounds and maybe they're future. let me know what you guys think.....
Carson Palmer demands trade or threatens retirment
This headline could affect the dolphins in a couple of ways. personally, i kind of like the idea of the dolphins trading for Palmer. (for the right price of coarse) but here'sthe thing, if another QB needy team makes a play on Palmer, that could free up a potential first roundQB for the dolphins. with many of the first 14 teams draft ahead of miami needing a QB, Palmer is an attractive pick up. lets list some of the available QB's out there. C.Palmer, D. Mcnabb, K. Orton, K.Kolb, V. Young. thats5 potential QB that other teams could pick up, leaving 5 potential 1st round QB's on the board for miami at # 15. those potential 1st round QB include J. Locker, R. Mallet, B. Gabbert, C. Newton.
Its highly unlikely that all 4 QB's are picked in the top 20. (assuming that a few teams satisfy their QB need via FA) if Miami wanted to trade down into the mid 20's to recoup there 2nd round pick. i think at least 1 of the 4 rookies would be available to them. Although i wouldnt mind if maim picked up one of the available free agent QB's. I think drafting one and spending the money on FA at other positions, is a better idea.
with several needs in offense i would really like to see the phins, sign L. Mankins to sure up the O-line, make a bid on either S. Holmes or B. Edwards and make our decent recieving core a Dangerous one. pick up a pass catching explosive type rb, L. Washington or R. Bush come to mind. resign Ronnie to an incentive laden 3 year deal. and find a faster TE that can get beyond opposing LB.
i know the chance of Miami filling all these needs with star type players is slim, but a combination of them could be exciting for us as fans. how do you guys think Miami should approach this off-season? There is a definite "win now" mantality creeping into the front office. I know the jets just lost the AFC championship game, (which i was very happy to witness) but, look at the weapons they brought in last off-season, i would say that the money they spent was worth it, even if it means leeting some guys go after failing to win the " Big Ticket ". I dont think the Jets will have any problems selling out all their home games next season.
Your thoughts?
P.S. Nahmdi Osmaugh is also going to be available to the highest bidder.....Pipe dreams....I know.....but I'm just say'n
Vince Young an option?
With Vince Young apparently being show the door in Tennessee, how would you feel about him coming to Miami and challenging Henne for the starting position? Vince is a taller faster stronger version of Jake Locker. If Miami was able to sign Jim H. do you think he could make "big things happen" with Vince the same way he did with Jake? if we were able to sign Vince we wouldnt need to spend a first round pick on a QB. and we could land a FOR SURE starter like M. Pouncy from Florida (LG) . then maybe spend a 3rd or trade up for a 2nd round QB (Mallet from Arkansas... Ben Rothlisberger clone) to be the future of this team. i think i could deal with JH calling the Offense and Vince Young at QB. How about you?
making the good, better
what do you guys think about miami spending a 1st round pick on defense? picture this.... Miami takes Dequan Bowers with there 1st round pick(DE from Clemson) . he could move to outside linebacker and provide the pass rush miami needs opposite C. Wake. we could let crowder walk, move Misi to inside linebacker with K. Dansby and have Wake and Bowers on the outside. I think we can build our Offensive line through free agency....(L. Mankins at guard) then move incognito to center. then our O line would look like this...J. long, L. Mankins, R. Incognito, J. Jerry, and V. Carey. with the lack of depth at the QB and RB positions in the the first round, I think Bowers would be an awsome pick. how would you feel about improving on the 5th ranked defense and waiting to pump some life into the offense till the 3rd round?
2008 draft to present, the "tri-fecta", and the future
With all that has played out for the miami dolphins this year.... 6 road wins 7 home losses.....QB controversy.....dead in the water offense...top 5 defense. I have asked myself a few questions about the team as whole.
#1. Are the dolphins as bad as they are playing?
#2. Did the "tri-fecta" experiment make this team better than it was prior to '08?
#3. Are the dolphins "just a few pieces" away from being a serious contender?
#4. what is holding this team back more, lack of talent or lack of coaching?
#5 what are some realistic options, for the dolphins moving forward?
my thoughts after the jump....
sparano defends henning, open mouth..insert foot....
okay, i get protecting your own, but what sparano said has me scracthing my head. here is a qoute from the miami herald. (when asked what he thought of mr. henning and the dolphins 31st ranking in points scored).
“I think that Dan Henning, for Tony Sparano, has been tremendous,” I think the guy has done a wonderful job during my time here. I look at the entire body of work, you guys just look at the last three or four games".
"I look at the whole body of work and this guy has done a tremendous job. He’s the same guy that we were all talking about, ‘Man oh man, he finds the ways to use the personnel to the best of their ability.’ That was you people saying that not me. So I would tell you for Tony Sparano Dan Henning has been tremendous. It's easy to point blame, fellas, and I get it. it comes with the territory. That's the way it goes. I need to do a better job. Tony Sparano needs to do a better job.”
now, keep in mind what brandon marshall said yesterday about about the play of the offense: from the coaches on down. and what some bills players said about the miami offense " playing for a field goal". i think sparano has run his coase in miami. himself and henning turned a gimmick offense into a gimmie-a-asprin offense. i liked the guy until i read this article. i think mr. sparano needs to move on.
if he thinks dan henning has been "tremendous" than how does he think the dolphins have been? tremendous? that doesnt leave a whole lot of inspiration for next year if he thinks a sub .500 team is tremendous. tony could have stepped away and said that he see's a need for a new direction to this offense or he has been dissapointed in the play of the offense or he expects more from this offense, but NO....he said henning has been tremendous... what a joke. 31st in the league in scoring and it's TREMENDOUS!!!!!! what the hell????? with a top 5 defense this team should atleast be in the hunt for the play-offs. our play off hope have been slim-to-none for a few weeks now. how tremendous is that mr. sparano? i dont want either back next year and they can take their defunct QB with them.

NcNabb to Dolphins?
With Donovan Mcnabbs career in washington all but over, should miami pursue the soon to be free agent? how would you feel about McNabb under center for the dolphins? or atleast in an open compitition with Henne for a starting job? there are several other team who will chase him im sure. what if miami signs him and picks up another qb in the draft? i think the comptition would be good for Henne, and maybe donovan could teach him how to pump fake or sell the play action. washington will get out of his contract relativly cheap. Miami could possibly work the same type of contract. either way, way all know miami will bring in another QB this offseason, what do you think about donovon Mcnabb?
Josh mcDanials as OC?
josh McDanials was fired from the HC postion by the denver broncos today. i know he has issues with B. Marshall but do you guys think he would be a good replacement of Dan Henning? he's young and he's a bilicheck deciple. i think he could be an upgrade over the OC we have now. he would bring new ideas and a deep threat type offense to miami. he might just be the fresh look the miami offense is looking for. i say leave sparano at HC, let M. nolan call the defense, and see what J. mcdanials can do with the offense, invest several draft picks in the offense and hand it over to McDanials. it cant get much worse than Henning has given us. what do you guys think?
good points after miami's bad season....
well now that we dont have to worry about play-offs. miami does have somethings that it can do know:
1. jake long can now have his shoulder surgery and take a nice long recovery vacation
2. brandon marshall can nurse his hammy as long as he wants
3. miami can keep moore and wallace in games, to see what they can really offer
4. Carpenter can try to set the record for most field goals in a season
5. miami can loose the rest of their games and no one would think they were tanking the season
6. miami can hope for a top 10 pick in next years draft
7. miami's front office can start looking at replacement qb for next year
8. henning can start packing his bags
9. miami can start writing a big fat check to cam wake
10. the dolphiins will be able to see how good teams win games the next couple of weeks ie: NYJ and Pats
meaningless football in the 1st week of decmber really sucks! im so disapointed after this game...

Fitzgerald to miami?
after listening to the game between San Fran and Arizona.... shush.. (dont tell my supervisor). I learned that Larry Fitzgerald is a free agent fter this season. how do you guys feel about miami pursuing L. Fitzgerald? He would command a contract similar to B. Marshalls. how do you feel about miami having the highest paid left tackle and the highest paid right tackle along with the highest paid middle linebacker and the 2 highest paid wide recievers in the game? would that be enough to put miami over the top? the jets have S. Holmes and B. Edwards. the pats had Welker and Moss. could fitz fix the problem with miami's offense? he would be the speedster we are looking for. with B. Marsh on the other side and Bess crossing the middle who could cover them all? Miami would become the greatest show on surf. I say dump the run, let Henne air it out with B. marshall, L. Fitzgerald and D. Bess. and we could watch the championships roll in. we would have to find a new OC beacause Henning would have no idea how to use our weapons on the outside, but man, it would be nice. I say pull the trigger and watch Henne throw for 5,000 yards.....but pipe dreams are exactly that. Mr. Ross seems to pay any amount to bring a championship to Miami. I think Fitzgerald is a ticket to the superbowl with our curent team. what do you guys think?
trade deadline.....
So with parcells out of the picture, do you think dolphins FO, pulls some triggers on todays trade deadline? here are few names on the trading block list: steve slaton, shaun rogers, shaun merriman, and dare i say it..... Nnamdi Asomugha.
with odrick, and jerry coming back soon, the depth on the off./def. lines returns. merriman would make a nice rotation with the lb's. i think slaton could a dynamic change of pace in the return game and out of the back field. Asomugha would be a treat. but would probably cost more than the dolphins want to spend. \
but think about this......if the dolphins got Nnamdi, how the hell could anyone throw against them? with davis on the otherside, J. Allen or S. Smith in the nickle.
those two on the outside would definatly give wake/misi those extra seconds to bring the pass rush. im not sure if these, or any trades will happen in miami today, but it's something interesting to think about on a tuesday morning. what do you guys think? have any other siggestions for dealine trades?
eliminator challenge
so i was wrong with my pick this past week. i picked the colts over the jags, and by a snow balls chance in hell, jacksonville nails a 59 yard field goal with time running out to upset the colts and exit my name from the eliminator challenge. i had never done one before so i wasnt sure if i could continue to pick games the rest of the season, to see how well i could do. but when i went to log in, appearently i had been kicked out, i guess? am i doing something wrong? i understand the premise of the challenge. but when your wrong are you not allowed to pick anymore, just for s#its and giggls? if not....ow well i tried. but here's my main question: if no one from the phinsider nation makes it through the season, how are the winners of the tickets for next year decided? if we were able to continue to pick we would atleast have a season champion (or person with the highest percentage of correct picks), either way, good luck to all still involved. damn those jags and their 59 yard field goals!
movement by the dolphins...
With players the likes of Marshawn lynch, randy moss, jake grove either signing with new teams or being traded, why have the dolphins done nothing to add some more depth, and help the ST unit? isnt there anyone paying attention in the dolphins FO? i hear j. jones was cut in seattle, to make room for lynch. he would be an upgrade in the return game, and could be a great change of pace back. i think the firing of the ST coach is addition by subtraction. but i believe there are good "role players" available for the dolphins to sign, but we have yet to see any moves.
as much as i hate to do it, lets look at the pats FO for a second. even if they keep moss. they will have 2-1st rounders (1 from Oakland which they got for trading an aging star). with Oakland's pick probably being a top 10 pick. if they do trade moss, rumors are they get a 3rd and a 4th for him. that is how the pats have stayed relevant for the the past 13 years.
so that would be 2-1's, 1-2, 2-3's, 2-4's, in next years draft and it's still October. first rate FO IMO. now look at the dolphins, our draft as of right now looks pretty basic 1-1, 0-2's, 1-3, 2-4's. we have busted on many 2nd and 3rd round picks in the last couple of years. cutting players and not getting anything in return for them, unless you count that Gatorade bath of jason taylor IN A JETS UNIFORM! and on top of that, they have yet to get back a 2nd round pick in next years draft that they traded for marshall. a quick comparison shows 7 draft picks for the pats to 4 picks for the dolphins, thats just in rounds 1-4.
i see lots of talent in the dolphins, and i still think they should win every game they play. (proved by the NFL sunday ticket i pay to much money for for). but apearantly talent doesn't equal production. which falls on the coaching staff and FO. until the big wigs stop playing patty cake and really turn the corner, miami will struggle to be anything more than a .500 club.
im 28 years old and have been watching to phin's with my dad since 1993. I'm ready for some damn playoff runs! this regime rebuilt a faltering team, but they can't become complacent. they have two weeks to make adjustments, get healthy and get ready for a good Green Bay team. lets see what they do............
Bold Dolphin Predictions
With Chicken Little Syndrome apparently running wild in the Phinsider Nation here are a few Predictions of the upcoming season.
Dolphins vs Bucs overview
The game lastnight was highly anticipated by the Phinsideer Nation. we saw some good things and somethings that left us wondering. the rain was dissapointing and so was the commentating. please get nat moore, brian griese and that other guy out of the commetators box! more after the jump.
Caption these photo II
Since we had a good time with the photo's last week, i have posted some more i found. caption these photo's with your best 1 liners and lets see how creative the Phinsider Nation can be. have fun, some of these pics may again be considered NSFW so be careful. remember if you dont have anything nice to say about the jets....use CAPITOLS. have a great monday.
caption these photos
after a long and exciting offseason im soooo ready for dolphins football. but for now, it's time to have some fun. after the jump i have posted several photos relating to the dolphins. i want to see how creative the Phinsider Nation can get. i must warn you.... some of these photos may be considered as NSFW (even though you probably have the SI swimsuit edition laying on the coffee table in your break room) so just be careful. it's your job you caption each of the photos. now remember if you dont have anything nice to say about the jets, use CAPITALS. enjoy the pics, have fun, and give me your best 1 liners. go dolphins

fantasy numbers
im starting my fantasy league soon, is henne/marshall a good combo? i think they both would be available in a (10 team league). in rounds 3-4. i usually pick RB with the 1st two picks. i try not to load up with fin's b/c of available fantasy stars in the same round, but it's hard to put aside my excitement for the fins this year. who would you take? do you start henne over such qb's like Ryan/Flacco/Shaub? last year i would say no way but with the addition of marshall is Henne a legit starter? how about marshall? with miami's run first attitude is marshall a legit starter over guys like Moss/Wayne/Jennings? 100+ cacthes and 10+ TD's is a premier threat in most leagues but can he put up those numbers in Miami? i dont think he hits 100+ catches but passes the 15 TD mark. and for that matter is Ronnie worth a low first round pick? the last couple of years he has been a Gem (to start the season) , but with his injuries.....do i want to get burned again? which combo would you take?
ronnie brown to lion's?
the lions own the 2nd pick in the 2nd round of the upcoming draft. 34th over all. with ronnie on the trading block, how would you feel about ronnie traded to the lions for the 34th overall pick? that would get the dolphins back a 2nd round pick, a better wone than thery traded to denver. miami could then pick up spiller with the 12th over all pick. i dont think bill likes drafting rb's that high, but the option would be there. then address our lb holes with the second pick. i am for drafting spiller i live about 30 minutes from clemson and have seen him live, his speed is impressive to say the least. the lions are intent in picking up a running back. this is a deal that could be done rather easily, ronnine for the 34th overall pick. do you think this is proper compensation for our prized back?
drunk jerry jones says it all
if you havent seen this already you got to watch it! jerry is drunk with some kids and slams parcells and tebow. i think this is one of those moments where a " you wanna get away" commercial comes on. i bet ol'JJ really hates camera phones right now. the lighting in the video is bad, but you can hear everything the dumb drunk say's. but if i was the kids that recorded it i would tried to sell it back to JJ for..... 1 MILLION DOLLARS...Muahahahahahaha
1st pick
now with marshall, could the dolphins still draft dez bryant with the 1st pick? assuming they can get a 2nd round pick from trading back some spots in the draft or a trading a number of players (thigpen, smiley, ginn, camarillo).
if we could get a 2 round pick back. i think you could validate Dez as a 1st round pick. if not Dez, then would they still draft a reciver in later rounds? g. tate, a. benn, d. thomas, m. williams could possibly be available in 2-3 round range with williams possibly in the 5th or 6th round.
what do you think about drafting a reciever early in the draft?
