Minor League Ball Travis Snider Promotion Inevitable?

OF Travis Snider, who is expected to be recalled to fill the vacant roster spot left by the departed RF Alex Rios, has regained his batting stroke at Triple-A Las Vegas. In 42 games with the 51s, Snider is batting .320 (48-for-150) with 12 home runs and 36 RBI.

Snider has been a very good prospect and is still only 21(ish), so he's got a lot of room to grow and should fit into the middle of the Blue Jays' lineup nicely.

What do you think?

Minor League Ball Zep-Chin-Ski

Mark Rzepczynski's most recent start was a pretty good sign for the youngster, IMO.

His line was: 93 PC, 6 INN, 5 HA, 1 BBI, 7 K, 4 ER

The 4th run was allowed when Josh Roenicke allowed the Yanks to beat him up - unfortunate for Zep.

The 7/1 K/BB ratio really stick out to me, that's very, very good of course. What does everyone else think? Post away.

75 word minimum.

Minor League Ball Logan Forsythe

I've come across his name a few times now, and I've heard very little about him. Can anyone give me some info on the guy - he looks like a pretty accomplished hitter at each level. When is his expected arrival date and his chances of making it into the show this, or the next couple, years?

Minor League Ball Dynasty League Trade Question

I'm building for next year in a 5x5 Roto League with a $250 starting salary each year.

The trade...

I would get: Travis Snider ($5), Daniel Schlereth ($7), Randy Choate ($7), and a 2nd Round Pick

for

He would get: Chad Qualls ($20) and Reid Brignac ($7)

All players are kept for two years and can be long-termed.

I'm thinking about asking for Angel Guzman ($7) in addition.

Is Snider going to really breakout next year, or what? What will Brignac amount to with how Bartlett is playing and with what's in front of him? Will Schlereth be closing any time soon?

What do you guys all think? I really appreciate any help, I know people tend to dislike Fantasy-related questions, but I think they're relevant with prospects involved. Thanks in advance.

Minor League Ball WHEN will Buchholz get the call

Anybody have any idea when Clay Buchholz will actually get called up to start? I know it's been announced that he will be the starter in the first game after the All-Star Break, but when will the Sox officially call him up?

I'm not sure if there's any sort of trend in the time of day teams call minor leaguers up, or if there's any other way of knowing when - I hope nobody suggests Twitter...

Minor League Ball Mark Rzepczynski called up

Blue Jays' lefthanded pitcher Mark Rzepczynski is going to start on Tuesday, as they option Russ Adams to make room for him.

Reports have said that he's an outstanding ground ball pitcher. He's also been very prone to keeping hitters in the park, only 5 HRs in 250+ innings - something along those lines. One concern was that he was pitching in A+ for a while, was in AA for some time, and then was only in AAA for a short time. At 23, he's not too "old for AAA" and should be ready to face major league hitting.

Minor League Ball Thoughts on Chris Marrero

I'm wondering what everyone thinks of Chris Marrero. I've had my eye on him for some time and know that he got hurt last year, but I've seen some high praise for him. He was compared to Travis Snider, who I considered one of the best prospects coming into this season, and was only slightly edged out: http://www.theprospectcorner.blogspot.com/2008/01/travis-snider-vs-chris-marrero.html.

He's being groomed to fill the National's whole at 1st Base, and has been widely considered their top prospect by far.

What kind of potential does this kid have and when is he going to start seeing some major league action? He's only in A+ right now, so I would expect a promotion to AA before the end of the season. It seems like he would then at least start next season in AA and be in AAA by mid season, which would lead to a September call-up.

When should he be expected to arrive in the majors? Considering the Nat's hole at 1st base, I would expect it to be sooner than what it looks like...

Minor League Ball Daric Barton?

When is he going to actually be relevant to the A's? He was called up from AAA, but he obviously isn't playing much with Giambi planted at first for the foreseeable future.

Thoughts? I think he's going to settle in at first to start 2010 off.

Minor League Ball Daniel Schlereth called up

The Diamondbacks have promoted LHP Daniel Schlereth, their first pick in last year's draft. The 23-year-old Schlereth, a product of the University of Arizona, had three saves and a 1.42 ERA at Double-A Mobile. He struck out 21 in 19 innings. Arizona optioned left-hander Doug Slaten to Triple-A Reno.

Thoughts on this? He's new to the pro leagues, but how will his impact be? Is there any sort of room for him to show what he's got this year, or next, or is he 3 or 4 years away?

Minor League Ball Buchholz

What's the deal with Clay Buchholz? He's near that age where he's got to move out of the minor leagues and he hasn't been up to the majors at all this year. I know he had a hamstring injury earlier, which is why he didn't take Dice-K's spot, but when is his time going to come?

Obviously he's got a logjam in front of him with how the Sox rotation is, but when do you think he'll be in a Sox uniform, and what do you project out of him?

Minor League Ball Scott Elbert called up

The Dodgers placed RHP Cory Wade on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, retroactive to April 12, because of bursitis in his shoulder. He is scheduled for an MRI on Monday. LHP Scott Elbert was recalled from Double-A Chattanooga.

Elbert appears to be a high quality long-term talent, so what do you think of him? Is he an immediate impact reliever out of the Dodger bullpen, or does he take a month or two to hit a groove?

He's supposed to be a starter, so does he convert at some point, or make spot starts this year?

Minor League Ball David Huff - callup?

MLB.com is reporting that with Scott Lewis going on the DL, David Huff is one of the options for a call-up. He's apparently competing with Jeremy Sowers, Aaron Laffey, and Kirk Saarloos for the 5th spot in the rotation. Lewis is set to be out for 2-4 weeks, and Saarloos' start was canceled - a possible indication that he will be called up?

I've heard some good things about the guy, but I really don't know much about him.

What do you guys think of this news? Explain why you think which choice will happen.

Minor League Ball Bobby Parnell - Mets' RP

The Mets' opening-day roster is set. Outfielders Marlon Anderson and Jeremy Reed earned the final bench spots, and right-handers Darren O'Day and Bobby Parnell secured spots in the bullpen.

I've seen Parnell's name pop up as a prospect in the Mets' organization, but I don't know much about him. I've only really heard about Jon Niese in the Mets' pitching. What do you project from Parnell this season as an RP, and what do you see of his future?

Is he a future back of the rotation guy for the Mets'? How long will that take for him to be there and how effective will he be?

Minor League Ball Do you ride the hype, you choose

I'm in a dynasty league and my minor league draft is coming up. In an ideal world, I will get stuck with this HORRIBLE decision.

I'm hoping that both Dexter Fowler and Gordon Beckham will be available, although that is a stretch at the point in the draft that I have the pick.

Would you rather ride the hype on Beckham or stick with Fowler, who's been rated as a much better prospect.

Minor League Ball Dynasty Trade Possibility

I'm coming up to draft time in my keeper league and have a very interesting prospect of a trade on my hands. It may be confusing, but I'll try to set it straight as best I can because I'm really looking for a lot of opinions on the matter.

Important Note: This trade will be set to take place just AFTER THE DRAFT, so it is a bit of an interesting situation.

This is a standard 5x5 league with 20 teams, so it's pretty deep.

I will be trading: Jason Kubel ($13 - 2 years), Brian Roberts ($31 - 1 year), AJ Burnett ($19 - 2 years), any Catcher I draft ($1 - 3 years), and the 14th overall pick

I will be receiving: Mike Aviles ($7 - 2 years), Jarrod Saltalamacchia ($5 - 3 years), any Starting Pitcher Left ($1 - 3 years), any Relief Pitcher left ($1 - 3 years), and the 3rd overall pick

What I have been thinking for my own team would be to let both Kubel and Roberts go into the auction and try to get them back. That mindset would lead me to really only be trading Burnett and my 14th pick for Aviles, Salty, and the 3rd overall. The only thing would be that if the trade happens where I'd have to be keeping Kubel/Roberts, they would affect my 15 keepers total.

My top available minor league picks would be:

Strasburg

Bumgarner

Cahill

B. Anderson

Feliz

Hanson

Fowler

Hosmer

Posey

Tillman

G. Beckham

Stanton

T. Beckham

Alderson

Chacin

C. Santana

Alonso

It seems that the jump from 3rd overall (Cahill, Anderson, Feliz, Hanson) down to 14th overall (Alderson, Chacin, Santana, Alonso) is a pretty good jump. Not to mention, I have the 6th and 11th overall already.

Do you think I'd be giving up too much to get Aviles and Salty in return with a SP/RP and the 3rd overall?

I feel like I'm leaning towards I am giving up a bit much, but what do you all think?

Minor League Ball What do you all think of this trade offer

I posted earlier about a trade offer and which would be the best offer. The offer has been altered a bit, but here it is.

I have been offered Brandon Morrow ($7 for 2 years), Cameron Maybin (Minors), and Kenshin Kawakami (Minors) for Chris Davis ($7 for 2 years)

The only other two players I COULD get instead of Kawakami are Frank Francisco ($7 for 2 years) or Willy Taveras ($11 for 1 year), but they would both be stretches to get included instead of Kawakami. I don't really see myself competing this year, I've been building up my minor league roster with Rasmus, Marrerro, and Parker.

Do you think I should do this? Any explanations would be greatly appreciated

Minor League Ball Hitters Face-Off

Who would you rather have, Buster Posey or Eric Hosmer?

Both are advanced hitters, apparently, but is Posey's skill and advancement at so much shallower of a position more worthy than Hosmer's power?

Any statistical reason as to why you would pick one over the other, or just based upon projections?

Minor League Ball Rank These Hitting Prospects?

In your opinion, how do these hitting prospects rank? In analyzing their value, take into consideration position, age, team (players in front of them) and any other things you think necessary (minor league all-star team is listed, if that means anything).

Is there a clear #1? A clear top 3? Is there a player or two who has no right being named with these guys?

Let me know what you think.

Minor League Ball Fantasy Minor Leaguers Draft Help

This is a bit of an update from a previous post. I have Colby Rasmus, Chris Marrero, and Jarrod Parker. I have Picks 6, 11, and 14 now and I'm looking to get 1 Hitter and 2 Pitchers, which seems pretty reasonable with the rich pitching crop. That said, I'm going to take the best talent available.

Are there any guys (presumably from the bottom of the list) that I can cross off as not in the Top 20 players on the list?

I'm projecting that I can get (based on this list): 6. Strausburg, 11. Alderson 14. Aumont/T. Beckham

The more opinions on your Top 20 and definite no's for the Top 20 are greatly appreciated. I'm trying to trim down my list to the top 20 players on here.
